Hi David, welcome to Eurobricks, i first saw this model earlier in Facebook, and i first thought it was a very big scale metal crane or some non-lego thing, but when i saw closer images i couldn't believe it was actually made of pure Legos, its extremely cool how big and detailed this model is, and also the functions it has, it is truly amazing, i also think it deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame, i hope that the Liebherr company could take a look at your model, nice work. -
Hello, Here are some updates, first, following RM8's advice i have modified the G300 drive train, now it is able to use the 28T differentials, the rear axles have a pretty basic transmission system, which obviously has a lot of power loss, but this was due to some lack of inspiration, maybe in a future it will be better, i have also added a 3 point link suspension in the rear axles, is not the same used in the real thing, but it should do the job, here is how it looks so far: I have also made some minor improvements to the Mog axle, i tested the integrity and the strength of the axle, and it is surprisingly good, i wish i had a servo motor so i could fully test it, but it works pretty good when manually steered: I have made some other modifications in the Zetros, but i will upload them later, when they get a better look. And i have also started to work on an old idea, a Portal Planetary Axle, and i have just discovered that Tatra has used this idea in their T 810 truck (pretty nice, actually), so i am trying to make the super heavy duty version of it, to fit large sized vehicles, more details will come soon:

I think that a good modification to solve this problem would be to add differentials to the outriggers drive train, so even when an outrigger has reached its maximum length, it wont start to skip until all the remaining outriggers reach their maximum length too, i will see if i can get the LDD file for the model and test this modification.

It might be a gearing issue, you can check the gear arrangement on all outriggers and make sure all of them have the same gear ratios, basing in the description of the problem, the difference of the gear ratios between the outriggers would cause some of them to complete all their movement before the others, resulting in that "skiping" noice.

Hi @Svart, welcome to Eurobricks, the Lego pneumatic parts usually do this, as it uses air, it needs a bit of time take enough pressure to operate the various cylinders, and the grabber can even take longer, as there are more hoses thus there is needed much more air to achieve enough pressure, and also because it has an small pneumatic cylinder it can take longer to move, about the solutions, i would recommend you to first build all the pneumatic system separately, just connect the pump, hoses, cylinders and valves together, check that there is no major leaking of air (you should look for any important leakage inside the cylinders and valves, and also check that the hoses have no punctures or leaking), and once you are sure everything is working as it should, build the truck completely, and once you do this check the pneumatic functions again, if everything works fine, and you are sure there is no leaking, you can now work on speeding up the pneumatic pump, a simple gearing up can help you with this, and an small tip i can give you to make the grabber move faster, you can maintain all valves closed and wait for the pump to build up enough pressure inside the system, once this happens you can open the valve for the grabber, this should make it open pretty fast (assuming that there are not additional problems), i hope this works for you, if you need any more help feel free to ask, you can also upload a video showing the problem, so it is easier to understand what else could you need, good luck with your Arocs.

As i can see, you can easily achieve drive in the axle by using CV joints, it wont affect the turning pivot, but the only problem would be to stack gears in the 7x5 frame, as it would require to move the half axles pivot point 1 stud up, which would affect the clearance a lot, but for me, that scale is perfect for a driveless suspended vehicle, specially a Tatra. -
@jrx, i have just seen a video of some models in a expo, including this red Zetros you made, and a very similar one but in black, is it yours too?

What about using torsion bars?, in the case that your model wont have a drive train, you could attach the half axles directly to the cross axle and the pivoting movement would be "suspended", or place those rubber parts above each half axle. -
I have made some research, apparently 395/85 R 20 are also compatible for the truck, as well for 560/60 R 22.5 and 600/55 R 22.5, which are used in agricultural operations or similar tasks, other options include 315/80 R 22.5 and 385/65 R 22.5, which are likely to be used in normal road operations and light off roading, i know about many other tires which should fit nicely even when they are not officially included. Here is an example of 16.00 R 20 (front) and 24R 20.5 (rear), i must say it looks amazing: BTW @jrx, how well does your model performs with the brick built planetary axles?, i have been designing a similar Zetros axle, but for a scale of 1:12, it could be reduced to your scale too, i haven't fully tested it because of the lack of parts and motors, but i have faith it could work well for this kind of models.

I hadn't seen this model before, its really cool to see a Zetros over here, i like all the details, the performance and the functions are really amazing, BTW, about the tires used, as far as i know, the Zetros can use various tire configurations, the 10.00 V 20 (and possibly 13 R22.5) tires, which might be some of the smallest compatible tires, there are also the standard 14.00 R20, which are used in single-tire axle configuration to give the maximum load capacity per axle (9 tonnes), these 14.00 can also be used in twin configuration for the rear axle(s), typically for big trailer transporting or similar tasks; and there is also the possibility to use 16.00 R20 on all axles and 24 R20.5 in the rear, which are the biggest tires allowed for this truck (officially), of course that tires which are within those dimensions and capacities should also be compatibles.

Hello people, after some inspiration and enough enough spare time i have made some improvements to the new front axle, i was able to test it in real life and it was surprisingly strong, and despite i didn't have a Servo motor to test it, i have faith that using a Servo will make it work perfectly, and here it is: I made some pretty weird drive system, despite is not enough realistic as the one used in Unimogs, at least it looks similar at first sight, and most importantly, it works, it has a gear reduction of 9:1, the portal gears can be changed from 8/24 to 16/16 (with some small rubbing), the small wheels placed in the steering pivot are used to avoid the movement of the tires, because they are held only by a 5L axle and sometimes that's is not enough robust with weight, they can also be removed if needed, but i use them to get a more realistic look without the tires tilting in, they could be changed depending of the width of the tires used: Next we have the steering, nothing very complex, it could be said that this system may force some parts because the steering rack and the parts connected to it are compressed against the axle while turning, but since the displacement is not enormous, the flexibility of the parts allows this without problems, a reinforcing bar in the front is used to make the steering a little bit more robust a Servo motor is used to power the steering system directly: And here are the different systems arrangement, including the diff-lock (the same as previous versions): Rear view: And last but not less important, the LDD file, the different systems are already grouped, i hope you like it: https://bricksafe.com/files/imanol/unimog/new-axle/New Axle.lxf Any suggestions are welcome.

Yes, there is plenty of space under the hood of this set to place one XL or 2 L's, and the servo can go in the middle of the chassis between the seats.

Looks like a very promising project, i like the scale; considering its size, you could try to make it manually steered and driven, and keep the PTO and other functions motorized, and see which kind of tractor would be the best option, decide which would be the best combinations, articulated or with steered wheels, equally sized tires or the rear ones bigger, tracked or wheeled, to have rear PTO, front PTO or both, this may also have some effect in the final model, so far it looks good, i am looking forward for more updates. -
Hey, i have made some more progress on the axle, now i can stack the chassis 1 stud lower to make this model even more realistic, now it uses 2 6.5 studs hard shock absorbers, this reduces the suspension travel, but it is still able to move a enough, and after some thinking, now i want to place a servo for the steering, which is not easy task because of the limited space, and i also lack inspiration for an enough good system, here are some pictures ans the current LDD file of the model: LDD: http://bricksafe.com/files/imanol/unimog/new-axle/UNI-MOC V2 Axle 09-12-17.lxf I hope you like it, any suggestions are welcome.

I am pretty interested in this project, ever since i got my 8110 i have been trying to make attachment for agriculture, i tried to make a PTO powered rotary rake, which is used to align the cut material in a row to make it easier to collect, but i have also seen that making these kind of attachments can also be a hard task, because nothing works the same in a scaled model, that's why most of the things i made didn't work, despite being very similar to the ones they were based in terms of dimensions ans functions, everything from the material used to represent the "cut plants" (i don't remember the proper name), the friction with the air, the density and even the gravity, everything can change the result, but i hope you can get fully working attachments which can process a representative material, i would really like to see what you come up with, and i am looking forward for the pictures, good luck.

Tire and Rim Compability

The tires are fitted between the outer gears of the turntable, and they fit very well, here is an example: There is also the possibility to place normal rims attached to the turntables using this design: EDIT: I forgot to say, this only works for tires with an inner diameter of 1.9", this includes most of the 1.9 RC 3rd party tires (like in the first picture) and the tires of the 8110, 9398, and possibly the tires of the 42054 (not sure if someone tested it with these ones) -
Who likes portal axles?: It has an overall clearance of 5.5 studs using these tires, and might be 6 studs with Xerion ones, i have also started to make the rear platform: The previous axle design still fits for a more "conservative" style:

I am surprised of how many different and nice color schemes fit in this set, the one i like the most is the red/white one, as Kmuffin said, it would be a perfect ambulance, BTW, after some inspiration watching some Unimogs and RM8's FJ40, i had the weird, but possibly nice idea to give this set some "attachment points", i have made the front one, it is driven by a motor which would drive the winch. The current design of the attachment point is in WIP state, but it might be very similar to the one used in the 8110 (the bumper should be improved too), you can also see my own designed winch, which is capable to lift an 8110 and has a free-wheeling option: I am also thinking to convert this model into a chassis-cab version, why? because i have the idea to add a transport platform, like a container transporter, this way a container alike cargo could be attached to it (including a camper): And this is where i got my inspiration, Blissmobil, imagine if the same concept is used in a smaller scale, could be perfect for this vehicle;

Hi Teos, I actually placed L-Motors as they were of the more comfortable dimensions, but dont worry, i am sure you could place almost any motor instead of the L's, actually, this hasnt been tested in real life, so i am not sure if the gear selection is right, but i am sure that you could use almost any kind of motor if you put the right selection of gears, M-Motors may need more reduction than XL's, and if you build this in real life, i will be very happy if you share any pictures and/or videos of it )to see if it works as it should), and feel free to give any suggestion for improvements or ask anything if you need help.
