Yes, the main idea was that, but the problem was the scale, because the tipping bed must be 5 studs tall, and i couldn't do that with the panels because they wouldn't tilt because of their shape, the previous version of the tipping bed had the panels but it was 6 studs tall and it made the truck look too oversized, the only way the the panels could work is if they wouldn't have that rectangular shape, this way they wouldn't lock with the other parts and they would work perfectly, but something that i have learned about making models is that nothing is permanent, so i cant tell whether or not i will use the panels.

Some updates in the Uni-Moc, i have started to make the doors, i made them studded, this way i can give them the right shape but they are enough strong so they wont pop out easily: The rear mudguards are finished, they dont look as the real life ones, but because the rear wheels will steer almost the same as the front ones, i needed space for the turning, this is why the mudguards are very separated from the tires: And this is the first attempt to recreate the round shaped hood of the U500, it is not easy to make it when you only have a few of round shaped parts, but in humble opinion it doesn't look too bad (so far): So far the remaining things are the cabin, the tipping bed locking mechanism and the rear end with the lights and the plates, etc, etc, but i am glad with how this is turning out, more updates will come soon.

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Imanol BB replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am actually making a project that i called Uni-Moc: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/141812-imanolbb´s-moc´s-and-mod´s-and-possibly-good-ideas/ And talking about Thirdwiggs Mog, i think green will be a very nice color, as Kikotube said, orange is used very often, so for me any new color is welcome: I am pretty interested in how the hood will be created, at least it has a very rectangular shape and doesn't have those round shaped parts like an UGN, which is a pain to recreate even with studded parts, and looking at the chassis and comparing it to the real life Mogs, i like the scale too, the chassis looks robust and reliable, and despite it has no portal hubs, i am pretty sure that it still will be a good offroader. -
Those vehicles look amazing Madoca, i am looking forward for the trial, seems like there will be many cool vehicles there.

I wouldn't think this is a so "illegal" solution, torsion bars are used in real life for many kinds of devices, so why not to do the same with Lego?, for me this is a completely acceptable use of parts because you aren´t "hacking" the parts to make them work, i really like who smooth and perfect it works.

Is so bad that there is still people who who just rips the videos of other users with no reason more than to get subscribers and likes (which they don´t get), about the pinned topic, will create it? i ask this because i would like to avoid posting a topic and realizing there was another one posted at the same time (at least that "pinned" topics can only be posted by certain users and not by everyone).

I think that you have found the perfect body for the chassis, even the color is the same, i will start to make it more similar to it, but it will be later or maybe tomorrow, because this day i have to do something very important, but i will surely try to make a similar body to that one, thanks for your help.

[WIP] Iveco Trakker 8x8
Imanol BB replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The side loader version would be pretty cool, i have seen something like that before, but at this scale it will look very cool, this is one of the videos i saw some time ago and i think it is a fantastic work, it was made by Dokludi, i hope it can give you some inspiration: -
Some more updates of the small 4x4 chassis: Here it is with the IR receiver at the rear, at this point i think it is a fully working chassis, something that really impressed me is that despite having the buggy motor and the servo, i have a considerable free space in the chassis, enough to add 2 seats (i must put other color for them) After this i started to create a body for it, note that it is not the final body, it is just an example, i first wanted to make it more round-shaped, but i have a lack of inspiration at this moment and i might do that the next time, but so far it doesn't look to ugly (Not as much as i was expecting): I will try to make more improvements on it.

Very cool truck, i am very amazed with how many Pf components you have added (and hidden) inside it, the functions appear to be enough good, and the 8x8 transmission is just amazing, the turning angle is very good and i think it must be a very good offroader too with that XL, very cool model, i hope you can upload the video soon.

The idea is that the 5.5 axles must be fitted to the cross-axle bricks in front of them: when they are in that position they act like leaf springs and they work considerably good, i designed this kind of suspension many years ago, when i only had bricks and some spare axles but i hadn't a very decent collection of Technic parts, the lack of any kind of shock absorbers and the limited space made me create this, and of course this model has shock absorbers in the front axle, but i couldn't fit them in the rear axle because they would need much more space above them and the bed would need to be lifted too much, this is why i didn't use them in the rear axle, but if you want to modify it to add shock absorbers feel free to do it. I also appreciate you like my MOCs, thanks.

Hello, since the Uni-moc is growing slowly and i think i need to rest a little bit from it, i decided to start a new project, it is a chassis for small size 4x4 vehicles, it already has live axle suspension in both axles, it is steered by a servo motor and driven by a buggy one, with a gear radio of 5:3 for torque or 1:1 for speed (depending of the gears in the axles), the motors are powered by AAA or LiPo battery boxes and will be controlled by a normal IR receiver, but for better performance there should be used an SBrick or a Buwizz: The idea that i have for this chassis is to make it similar to Sheepo´s MAP chassis an standard chassis which can hold several bodies styles, it will have few connection points for the bodies, so it should be a good base for rally-like vehicles, i hope you like it, let me know what you think.

General Part Discussion

Nice discover, i think that the panel could work perfectly for turbine like builds, that curved shape could help in those cases and even in other builds.- 5,466 replies

I think this also depends in the pieces you use, i have found that if you connect pieces of different times (specially when there is a lot of time between them) sometimes the connection can be very sturdy and with a moderated friction, and other times the connection can be very slack with no friction at all, and in my opinion the new hubs could give a little bit of help in this problem, because you can put different connections instead of the old one which needed to be connected by ball joints to steer, for me this new hub is more "versatile" than the old one, and you can solve the problem of "too much friction" or "too much slack" by changing the connection pieces in the hub, but this is only my personal opinion and i also dont own any of the hubs (neither old or new one), so i think that more people that have these hubs should share their experiences or thoughts about this new piece to give you the best information.

[WIP] Iveco Trakker 8x8
Imanol BB replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This truck is looking very nice, is huge but the axles seem to be enough strong at least for moderated off-roading, so far it is looking very cool, nice work. -
General Part Discussion
Imanol BB replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think the same as letsbuild, overriding and forcing the motors for long times can cause serious damage to them; but you could also solve this problem by creating a disengaging feature for the motors and the drivetrain, it would still have all the motors, but they would be disconnected from the drivetrain, that way your daughter can push the model as she wants without forcing the motors, and once she has finished with it, you can simply engage the motors to the drivetrain to use it as RC.- 5,466 replies

Thirdwigg's MOCs
Imanol BB replied to Thirdwigg's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks really cool Thirdwigg, those tires look amazing, and a U90 is definitely a not very common Unimog, if you make it it will a very unique model, for me this is a very good idea, and the scale looks good as well. -
[MOC] Wheelchair
Imanol BB replied to legosamigos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is really cool, it looks realistic and has good proportions, maybe if you put some motors on it there could be a wheelchair race soon. -
I didn't knew about the system the engineers used at that time, its a very interesting information, i also know that modern landing gears use air or oil to avoid rebound like most of the cars do, which work by adding some dynamic friction and that way the suspension wont be jumping up and down for too much time with every obstacle in the road, and this is the problem of most of the non-maintained vehicles, when this dynamic friction of the suspension is lost, the car will jump a lot with every obstacle, and people may think it is a air-ride vehicle, but it is not.
