Winter Trial Truck Help
Imanol BB replied to Alex Ilea's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think that the best option is to use the larger, wider and softer tires you can afford, try to avoid using narrow and hard tires like motorcycle ones, another thing to consider is the torque and the weight, if you are able to make a very robust transmission and axles and using strong motors (XL's, NXT's) with a light chassis-body, you should use large tires and a descent torque, not too fast, so it wont stall with the lack of torque, and not too slow so it wont be a snail, but in the case that the truck is too heavy or there is a problem with the robustness and strength of the functional elements like axles, transmission and motors, your best option is to go for the highest torque possible and making the vehicle at a small scale, you could also see some arctic vehicles which have these same characteristics: large and wide tires, relatively low weight and descent torque, i hope this information results helpful. -
Didumos69's Breadcrumbs
Imanol BB replied to Didumos69's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think they look and work perfectly, i am thinking to make similar seats in some of my future models because i think they add a lot of realism to the models. -
Hello everyone, has been a while since i have posted here, i was moving from home so i had not too many time to make any advances in my models, but now i am ready to continue, so, here is some advance in the Uni-moc, i have made some work in the cab, it is supposed that the exterior structure is finished, only some details need to be made, like the mirrors and the rear air intake tube: Another thing that i have made is a kind of mudguards expansion, which is good if i would like to put some wide tractor tires and make an "Agro" version, good thing is that they can be easily attached to the standard mudguards: But this came with an small problem, i needed to make the dump bed wider, so the dropping sides wouldn't collide with the mudguards, the solution was to make the dump bed 25 studs wide, so it should work properly, this widening (like the mudguards) can be optional, it can be done with some extra spare parts: This is some of the work i have made so far, there is more, but i will be posting it by parts and depending of how important these updates might be, thank you for your waiting, i hope to share more and possibly better models soon.

[WIP] Iveco Trakker 8x8
Imanol BB replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It looks very neat, the construction design is very similar to the official Lego sets, it reminds me to the VW's and the Mini Cooper, very promising. -
Motorising for exhibition
Imanol BB replied to quilkin's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
As kieran said, one of the biggest problem in a long lasting exhibition model is the wear of the parts, is a very common issue in GBC's and trains, you could put a little bit of lubricant oil in the functional parts to avoid most of the wearing, about the motor, if it is supposed to be running for a very long time, you could try to use the controller that LvdH said, i think is this one: -

That bumper looks very realistic, you are making an excellent work on it. -
Crowdfunding would be a problem because most of the people possibly would think that it is better for them to keep that money and use it to buy their own sets, and also if the people crowdfund him, it would be like an obligation to Sariel to make the review, which is not a comfortable situation, so for me it is OK how he has been creating his reviews, taking the needed time, and most of the time using his own resources to get the sets or pieces, and i really appreciate that he takes a lot of his time to share with us most of the official sets and some of his MOCs, and another thing that we need to do is to accept that whether or not we like it, most of the old or classic sets will become more expensive with the path of time, because they will be harder to find and to get a "good condition" one, so remember that when one of these sets are reviewed, but we could help by searching for some of these sets, and we might find very cheap but well/maintained sets, and we could be the link between these sets and the reviewers, this would speed up the process of searching and also the sets could be gotten at a very low price, this solution could work, but i know that you must have better ideas and i am happy to look at them, all in all, we must help each other to reach a goal. By the way Sariel, have you ever tried to make a video with closed captions that could be edited by the people? i had the idea for this some time ago, and i thought that i could, for example, make some subtitles in Spanish, so the videos would also be seen and understood by the people who only speaks that language, and this could be done for every language, what do you think?

As Agrof said, we must start to spread the words and advice the people why buying these clone toys is affecting both TLG and all the Lego customers, because if the new generation of customers accidentally buys one of these clone models, they will be disappointed which its quality, and they will think that all the Legos are the same thing, the problem of these companies copying customers mocs is a whole new level of evil, right now it might be only a few models made first by some well known builders out there, but i am sure that those builders arent going to share more of their ideas for a long time, which means that the clone brands will go after more builders, at the point that no one will want to share anything, and all the customers and members of the different clubs or forums will just stop sharing their models or ideas, everything will colapse until finally no one will want to buy neither original Lego models or clone models because there will be no point in making something great when you already know that someone is waiting to stole it, that is the problem, we might wont see it at this point in a long time, but it is not a question of if it will ever happen, the question is when will it happen and how it can be avoided, the answer is the same thing that i said before in this post, and in my previous post in this topic, we might not be able to completely terminate these clone brands if we only want to sue them, but we can teach people about these companies and what they do to all the costumers, and which will be the result if they support them, again, the answer is to spread the word to everyone.

[WIP] Iveco Trakker 8x8
Imanol BB replied to KikoTube's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is looking very good, i actually like that you have put the motors directly into the axles, almost 0 power lost there, and judging from the video it is working really good, the doors are looking very nice, and i think it should be easier to make the 'decorative' parts like the cab, doors, etc than first designing them in LDD (in my experience, doinf them first in digital is a pain), this is looking very promising and i hope too see more updates soon, nice work. -
Agree with that too, every single page or company which was designed to sell original Lego parts (and maybe 3rd party expansion or custom products) must start to make a filtering campaign, to know which users are selling 100% original Lego parts or customized parts, and ask to every single user to for the originalism of the parts and to assure that they are not selling clone and cheap parts, these actions must be executed by all the respected pages which do this, and we must explain them why, to make new rules and be tougher with clone brands sellers, to be sure that there wont by infiltrated parts over there.

I am totally agree with everything you have posted here Rm8, if the case was that these companies (wherever they come from or who they are) make products designed to expand the possibilities then I surely would give them all my respect and support, as you said, if they develop compatible motors, or tires, new pieces, (or even if they start to make replacement for pieces which are just impossible to get), then it is okay, but this must be product of your effort, your hard work and your inspiration to make Legos even greater than they already are, that is totally acceptable, but if you just want to make easy money by just ripping off every single design of official sets, prototypes or MOCs, then I would tell you to go right straight to hell for being and idiot and an abuser, you don't deserve to make money from another's people work, and even if they have taken a lot of stress and hard work to do something from total zero, and you are just going to take that, make a cheap and sh*ty version of it just to get money and take all the customers of the original idea, this problem has no countries, I know the admins are concerned about people pointing to an specific brand, company or country, and I will say that these clone toys can be from China, or Russia, or Germany, or USA, or Venezuela or from North pole or the moon, I doesn't matter from where and from who these thing came from, what matters is what can we do to make them stop doing that, or at least to convince them to aim their products in another way than just making the exactly same things that Lego does, convince them to make expansion products than replacement ones, instead of making the same pieces and sets, make your own ideas, start to think, get inspired and make a so cool piece or fully customized set that many people will want, and also people will want to get that part or model and also more original Lego parts to complete it, this would be a collective help, because you are indirectly helping you and helping Lego, if you are going to do this, you have green light to fly and make everything you think that will expand the possibilities, then people will know that you are not one of those shameful copiers but they will think you are a genuine thinker, an expansionist, a pioneer aiming for better models, pieces and/or ideas, this is what these companies should do instead of just copying everything. My suggestion to everyone in or out there of this community and all of the other communities and/or clubs around the world is to share a message to everyone, we must tell to all the people what these copying companies are doing and how they can help to stop these companies from doing that, we must tell them this: "if you see that the product is designed to increase your satisfaction by expanding your Legos, feel free to buy it, that is okay, but if you see that it is the same thing, a cheap copy, and it was made to replace your original Legos, please don't buy it", this could be the primary campaign for all the well-known builders and reviewers of Legos and all of the customers, we must share that message, we must advice the people about this, if we are together and we want to make something to change anything, be sure we will.

[MOC] Avtoros Shaman 8x8
Imanol BB replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hey Rm8, thanks for making that new topic, it is very needed right now to organize as much as we can to do something about those companies, it is very sad that all this is happening and even worst to know that must of us are powerless in this theme. About these 3rd party parts in Bricklink and any other Lego stores, don't even doubt that some people has already bought cheap clone brands sets, and are ready to sell the parts at original Lego prices, I am very sure of that, because is a perfect business for these sellers. -
[MOC] Avtoros Shaman 8x8
Imanol BB replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
maybe it would be right to contact Shaman and see if they can do something to avoid this shameful company from selling this Mac, and Madoca, don't feel bad, don't stop making your great Mocs, this is just a reason to be even tougher and better, maybe we all should start to filter who can get the instructions, we should talk to Rebrickable too, we need to be all together and be sure that no one will take advantage of us in this community, we need to advice the people of who are the Mocs, so they won't buy a cheap copy from one of these stupid shameful companies, please Madoca, don't stop your nice work, you are a great inspiration for many builders out there (including me), you are very important for this community, so don't feel bad because of all this, they will pay for this some day, divine justice is like a torpedo, it might go slow and take a lot of time to make an effect, but when it hits its target, it hits very hard, so this is just matter of time until this solves, we only need to wait for it, everything is going to be fine. -
My bad, i thought he was needing it for LDD, sometimes i don´t pay enough attention.

[MOD] 42037 ultimate
Imanol BB replied to agrof's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cool MOD, you are giving me some ideas to make my own modifications, i have an idea to add a buggy motor to it, nice work on your own MOD. -
Thank you both, here is an small update in the cabin, i have made some minor changes in the hood and i have started to make the roof, i now need to make the rear part of the cabin, after that i will only need to make the steering wheel system and the seats and the cab should be finished: I am planning to make a vario steering system too, so i think this unimog will have only 2 seats because of the console and the controls, this is what i have in mind: And possibly if i put only 2 seats i will be able to make them suspended, for even more realism, any suggestion and information is welcome.

I hadn't uploaded it before because no one answered for it, but here it is: http://bricksafe.com/files/imanol/unimog/uni-moc-u500/UNI-MOC U500 10-29-16.lxf It still needs some improvements and finish some spots, but it is almost finished. Have fun with it.

[MOC] Avtoros Shaman 8x8
Imanol BB replied to Madoca 1977's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is exactly what i think, the original model made by Madoca is a complete artwork and is very cleverly built, and it is very frustrating that this company has just taken that excellent design and just changed a few aesthetic parts, but i am sure that they have kept the drivetrain and all the functional elements of the original model (they even kept the color scheme!!!), and like Majkl said, even if they would give you something for the intelectual property (which in my opinion is not going to happen), it has no worth at all, because the thing they are going to sell will be a huge S***T and i am sure that it wont even move, it is so sad that these nice models, which were designed and built with a lot of effort are just stolen and then cheaply sold by these companies, i hope that there could be justice in a near future, and this things don´t happen again, this greatly designed model doesn't deserves that. (By the way, i don´t want to convert this topic in a conversation about this company, so i recommend to not make too many comments about that in this topic) -
Here is another update, this is how looks the current model: You can compare it to some of the real life Mogs (This one has the same angle for easier comparison): I hope you like it, i will keep making more improvements.
