  1. yup.....I have no direct knowledge here... but agree with @Didumos69 - when the celestial stars go away.... I think the red will too......
  2. Perhaps I got a bad batch? Dunno. I do remember a conversation about these tiles though, I think, but am not sure, on BL years ago. When around Christmas time they allowed PAB cups in the stores as part of a promotion. In the US they had these pieces all over the place and people were getting them in droves. Perhaps it was because they were in bins and so many people were rummaging through them, but there were many complaints of these breaking. I think you are mostly right. Dispersed across so many should make it work. However, the reason for my caution is that even though the turnable is huge, I still think there will be some bobbing back and forth as this thing more, functions, or places any weight in the bucket. As it does so the weight will not be evenly dispersed, and the weight on front versus back etc. tiles will increase/decrease big time if there is bobbing. Probably everything will work great. I hope it does. Just would definitely take the turnable design, just like it is shown in the pictures above, and throw a bunch of weight on top of it, like the OP has done with the rest of the chassis, just to make sure there is no breaking/cracking. If the whole thing gets built, and begins functioning great, but has one of those tiles break --- that will really stink. @shineyu - Excited to see stage two!
  3. Another thing that occurred to me is those tiles are incredibly fragile. they often are either already broken out of the package or break upon first application. it would really stink to build the thing and have one break in the inside of the tracks. it would gum up the whole turntable.
  4. Great idea. I will follow as well. Couple of things.... -- -although certainly aspirational....if things become too heavy for Lego bricks you may want to leave yourself open to third party elements. I have paid attention to some of your other projects and I know you use third party tires. So hopefully, if it comes down to it.... third party elements might have to be used. Not saying they will.... but if you spend tons of time on this project and are really stuck at some point because of the inherent limitations of ABS, you may want to consider third party elements..... -- THe turnable looks great, however, although you have some spacing on the "bearings" (round 1x1 tiles) they may bind. If so, consider lube. When weight is on the turnable, I will be interested to see if your configuration with the tiles as bearings works.....
  5. Superb job. especially happy you took the time to take some outdoor pics with a nice background fitting the vehicles. thanks for sharing.
  6. Agreed. in fact, in regular system building this might be referred to as greebling. looks wonderful.
  7. As others have said, this is terrific. thanks for sharing
  8. This will hopefully expand our "tiny collection" thread and help make submissions more functional
  9. Yup. But, again, I think that this time, the crash was a different type. Seemed more prolonged and severe than before. I think it is high time that I begin looking elsewhere to host my pics. Which is a shame because aside from the poor quality of the hosting site, I rather like Mocpages.com (below is my interpretation of what is going on with mocpages servers)
  10. That is what I thought. That it was kinda of a "linchpin" in the community. I know there were some posts that went back to 2003ish. Hopefully, this or other posts will gain some traction and we will at least get some response......
  11. No. Nothing yet. Which in fact surprises me. There are some big names that post there. Sariel, Anio, Lipko, are just a few. I understand that it was not the most popular place to post..... but it did have some great options. I would think this would be a larger concern for the Lego Community. I just reposted in the Technic Forum. I would like some answers....... if it is time for me to move to Flickr or something I guess I should do it now........ I dont think it is a problem to discuss other options here. This will allow the topic to get bumped and perhaps gain some traction..... As I mentioned to Greg, I would think this is something of a Lego Community concern. Perhaps it is not.... I dunno. Flickr seems to be the default option, but there are many options that mocpages allowed one to do that Flickr does not. I know brickshelf and bricksafe are other options.... but again, they don't offer many of the options like mocpages such as posting video and discussing, groups, and others.
  12. I understand this post is better perhaps in the "Community" forum, but I already posted it there. Couple of responses..... little information so I am reposting it here. I know there are many who, (like me) rarely go to the community forum and therefore may never even see the post I placed there.... so forgive me if this is redundant.... Jim, if you want to delete I understand. But.... perhaps someone has some answers. But..... does anyone know the status of Mocpages.com? It has long had its fair share of problems, and please no responses regarding how much they hate or love the site, this post is not fur that purpose. But although it goes down frequently, this time it is down longer than ever before. In addition, the error message one receives when they try to visit the page is different than ever before. Does anyone know..... is the site down completely?
  13. I am well aware of the history and pros and cons of mocpages. So, lets avoid the fodder of discussing such regarding this post. This is not meant to be a post about discussing how poor, or great, mocpages is. My question is simply, does anyone have information regarding the status of mocpages.com? I knnw it goes down somewhat often, but the latest unavailability has been longer than ever before. Also the error message one receives when trying to access the page is different than it has been in the past. Anyone have any information?
  14. It will be interesting to see how many of us dredge up old projects to use this in. no doubt they're will be new projects out, but using this with old builds will be fun too. I know I will be using it in both old and new stuff
  15. Indeed good news. I do hope I get mine by Christmas. I will have time to finish something with it.
  16. Lol......if it were not for all the spikes it would actually look comfy. gives the appearance of much cushion
  17. Clever. C builds are more difficult than I think people realize. Tracks for seats? Creative. -- the design is almost futuristic, almost like a concept build or something.
  18. Interesting and good looking. I especially like the orange 1/2 bushes for the paddle shifters. Question: when you say "dyed" - how or what did you use for the dye?
  19. "only two topics"?? - I don't remember this being the case. If I remember correctly, this has been an issue brought up before @M_longer. Sometimes the way with which you respond to others' posts is incredibly curt and can appear to others as flat-out rude. To conceal yourself behind the cloak of "offering critique" doesn't improve the situation. Usually, the phrase, when critiquing others' work or trying to offer help to improve others skills an any area, is referred to as "constructive criticism" - and connotes some element of being constructive. Which, (I think is being pointed out by others), your comments rarely are. Critical? you bet. They are plenty of that. But constructive? Not really. You may argue "well what if I can't see anything to be constructive about" and if that be the case, then fine. No problem. But perhaps best then to just keep the comments to yourself because they simply will not be taken in a good light, no matter how well intended. . Let me show you an example of constructive criticism: M_longer - I have always enjoyed your builds. In fact, I remember when I was coming back from my dark ages, using some of your builds as inspiration. You are talented and a great asset to the community. However, when you offer feedback to others it is often too abrasive. Too harsh and the wording is very unpolished. If you are to offer feedback, then also find something to build on (even if it is nothing more than the simple fact that the builder shared that he had fun what he was doing). That is being constructive. That.... is constructive feedback. On the flip-side, there is what it looks like, and feels like, to receive just plain critical comments. With nothing constructive: @M_longer - your communication skills suck. I know that sounds really harsh, and not trying to be, honestly. It is just perhaps a little taste of what it feels like when the latter approach is used. For what it is worth, I really do offer the first example. You are a great member to the community, have great building skills, but if you are truly to maximize your impact with your comments, you might want to think about offering constructive stuff as well as your trained, professional eye.
  20. So that is where all the red 3L axles went - throw me into the "I like" camp of the method covering flex axles with liftarms. This car perhaps uses this technique more than ony other model I have seen, and I think it looks great. IMO, bag all the "legal versus illegal" mumbo jumbo in building.... as long as pieces are not modified then it is all good. Wonderful job on this one, looks beautiful.
  21. Your models are always great, so take those with a grain of salt but I agree with this. the chassis also looks underdeveloped. end sprockets aren't even touching the ground
  22. Also a big fan of set modification. usually we see this with larger sets. first time I have seen anything serious with a smaller set. very well done
  23. I will also add that third-party controllers and adaptive electronics for LEGO motors are still more likely to produce something more valuable and functional than PF 2.0. Which work with PF as they are now. Look up BuWizz, or Smartbrick and you will see what I am talking about. Using these will add power and playability and can be used with PF functions as they are now.
  24. Although I have been a member for a while, this is only the second contest I have participated in voting for. lots of fun, thanks everyone for the entries. I also think it would be interesting to know more how people voted. What criterion they used. looks? functioning? creativity? I know it is probably a mixture of all three plus more, but having an idea might help future contestants. say....for example, to know of looks is more popular with voters than creativity that would be good to know.
