Stunning model and the photos are unreal. I love the black background with the yellow and blue model. Led lighting is captured perfectly.

Forgive the poor pictures, and the unfinished structure. This was my very very first project back from my dark ages, and I enjoyed the scaling so much but never got interested in finishing the aesthetics of the build. Scaled Sears Tower, not only the tower as a whole but also the nine columns that comprise it. Scaled to nearly 100% accuracy. Fun little project to return from one's dark ages. Full details, numbers, etc. located at: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/355109

Not really. I do have this small pic: But I can take more pics. I still have the models. But @That_LEGO_Guy already posted some good pics really. The cogs on the outside of the rims don't allow a perfect, flush, mate between the tire and the rim, but I have found it secure enough. Driven some models on some pretty rough terrain (videos on my youtube page, if interested) and never had the tire slide off the rims. Even when going through water. Driven not just my PF XL motors but very strong pneumatic engine as well. Like @That_LEGO_Guy this setup has pulled weight with no problem. No sliding off the rim whatsoever.

Love this submission. The older look isn't something we see often. I see a lot of Porsche parts here. How much of the bodywork are panels, lift arms from the Porsche?

Excited and will follow this. Love adding lights to my models. Solid user of lifelites and pf lights. I think adding lights also increases interest in Lego photography. Don't care much for sound though. -
[MOC] AC Cobra 427
nerdsforprez replied to shimon's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
We have a little trend going on of smaller, more compact buildsize, and I really enjoy it. This submission is a great little addition to that trend. -
Forgive me if this has already been addressed.... I have tried to keep up with this thread and I don't remember this being discussed anywhere. But when I try to connect my BuWizz it asks for a pin number. Recommends 0000 or 1234. Neither works. I have tried to re-install the app and restart my phone with no luck. Any recommendations?

[MOC] Drift Wagon
nerdsforprez replied to Attika's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Couple of things.... 1 - Ken Block would be so proud. 2- your sins are forgiven 3- The brake mechanism is so cool! Not sure I have seen it before in a Lego Drift car. Most Lego versions appear to solely rely on motor strength for drifting -

This is very useful. Thanks for the reference. And just for clarification, the Porsche rims do fit rather well with 2.2 tires, but I have not actually tried them on a motorized build. So, with pressure, torque, etc. not sure how the Porsche rim will hold up. However, these two pieces, interlocked together, work very well on 2.2 tires. I have tried them on multiple builds and they have worked very well.

General Part Discussion
nerdsforprez replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sorry, I should have been clear. As posted in my initial comment, I meant the 3L pin only; not the 3L pin with stop bush. Hopefully the other pics make clear what I wanted to say. The 3L pin has a "stop" - but no bush. THis "stop" piece of plastic is what I was referring to. In reference to my build, the orientation of the "stop" is very important, other than the obvious reason of how it can be removed. Not sure I have ever seen anyone reference to it this way before.....- 5,504 replies

Not sure it's kosher to make a whole new topic for a moc that u already have a wip thread open for. I am sure it is tempting bc u likely will get more clicks, but best to just post this under your wip thread

General Part Discussion
nerdsforprez replied to Polo-Freak's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I sorry for interrupting the current discussion on part coloring..... but I think this is the best place to post this ... as it is a general topic/discussion on parts. I have not seen this in a discussion before, so please forgive me if this is redundant... but has anyone ever needed to use the 3L pin with the ridge in any particular orientation other than for convenience (ridge off to the left of image below, not the smaller ridges lengthwise)? What I mean by this is that the orientation of the pin allows one to easily pull the pin from one direction but not the other. But has anyone ever needed to orient the piece in one way or another other than for the obvious reason of convenience? I recently have had to, and just found it interesting for a use of the piece that I have never needed to use it for. I posted a WIP in the star wars forum..... when perhaps I should have posted it in this forum. It has not generated much discussion.... perhaps it is just not a good project but perhaps just in the wrong place (it is a WIP for the U-wing ship in Technic) If the below is not clear, check out the discussion for pics and more clarity. Briefly, the U-wing has very distinctive, long, narrow wings. Gravity pulls these wings down and I am trying to make the sweeping wing action functional. This has been difficult with the length of the wings and gravity pulling on them. Some wonderful MOCs have been produced but no one has really solved this problem and it makes a mechanized action of the wings difficult. Old design is below..... and will suffice for this discussion (although I have redesigned them to look more like the actual wings of the U-wing) As gravity pulls the wing down the first set of blue pins in the 40T gear pressure is on the bottom, for the back set of pins in the gear the pressure is towards the top. I have made the wing very stiff, but there was still bending, nearly all at the site where the gears are connected to the wing. I tried several solutions to try and make the connection more secure ... but nothing really worked until I discovered the following. The connection above, with the pieces used, is just fine, IF I use an opposing orientation of the pins in the 40T gears. To explain the picture above, the back and front pins are oriented differently. The ridge is centered at the site of the pressure (down towards the front of the wing and up towards the back of the wing). This amazingly fixes my problem. As can be seen, the little ridge creates distance and keeps things in line, if the 3 L pins are oriented differently the wing bends much more because there is not the little amount of plastic separating the gears from the connectors. Usually, this ridge in the 3L pin does not matter, because it is hidden in the pinholes of liftarms, connectors, etc. But.... with me using them in the gears, there is no room for that ridge - therefore creating space, which is good for my MOC. This helps the wings of my U-wing remain straight. Just a fun finding that I thought I would share of an otherwise, fairly mundane and boring part.- 5,504 replies

I don't have much to add to the discussion on the pin with pinhole, despite it also being one of my favorite parts. I don't see using it as "cheating" - and think that the history of Technic building is interesting here as the progression of pieces changes how we build. Things that once were built one way are bound to change and pieces are updated and revamped. I think over time this feeling of "cheating" is bound to occur not because of actual cheating but due to a simple evolution of pieces. One piece that I would like to add to the discussion however is the 3x3 perpendicular pin connector Not as strong as a 5x7 frame, but offers a perpendicular arrangement of pins and connectors with a different arrangement than the frame and potentially in a smaller spot. I find it particularly useful when liftarms need to be at 90 degrees to eachother without adding another level (like the use of other connectors will do)

The first and second stages of the engines are now done. Second stages were shared before, and now at least the concept for the first stage is complete. I think I will still add one more plate to the bottom of each appendage so they are little taller. As can be seen in the pic below, I want a little more height difference between the first and second stages. Side Shot of just the first stage (the cut-away is there because I am still awaiting a BL order and currently don't have enough parts). When all finished of course it will go all the way around: A cut-away of the first stage reveals that it actually has internals. As a Technic Model.... I want to remain true to focusing at least a little on functional aspects of the build. Bunch of fan blades just like what might exist in such a hypothetical engine. I know these engines are quite a bit different than other MOCs out there or what is in the official set. But this is what I was going for. The official set and even great MOCs out there the engines are made out of large, single pieces. I wanted to build engines out of many pieces. Each engine, as constructed here, have nearly 200 pieces each. That means I am using nearly 800 pieces in the engines alone!

Impossible LEGO
nerdsforprez replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yea, as mentioned in the video it is a feeler gauge. And I have bent mine, but only minimally. The one used is very old and I have several so it is not a concern. Knives can also be used, but as mentioned I found it is easier on my pieces -
