  1. The Bureau of Unexplained Phenomenon's train does not officially exist and you never saw it. All photograph's taken of this train are mangled by some unknown force while still in the camera, and it never seems to stay still for long enough to get a glimpse at the engine crew. The passenger cars are are only marked with the Bureau's logo on the sides for a clue to their ownership. The 2-6-0+0-6-2 Garratt steam locomotive pulls a four car train, consisting of what seems to be a baggage car, a sleeper, diner, and observation car. All four cars (and the engine) are marked in a dark blue with light gray accents and the Bureau of Unexplained Phenomenon's logo on the sides (not shown). According to the scattered reports of varying age, the train's scientist crew catalogs the odd happenings around the USA since the Bureau's founding by Abraham Lincoln in 1863, such as un-dead uprisings in the 1970's, ex-confederate vampires in 1875, time travelers from the 1980's in the 1880's, attacks by mutant giant ants in the late-1940's, and an entire town being held hostage by a giant blob from outer space in the early 1960's, just to name a few of the more prolific cases that we know of. Other reports suggest the train is not merely cataloging the happenings, but tracking them via a rip in space-time continuum in the Pacific Northwest that is waiting to be opened to it's full inter-dimensional potential. This man on the far left is supposedly one of the senior operatives of the mysterious Bureau, a Mister Graves. Mr. Graves has more recently (as of 1926) been keeping tabs on Lord Sam Sinister (far right) Senor Palomar (second from left) and Alexis Sinister's (second from right) plans for the inter-dimensional portal that is located in the pacific northwest of the USA. Mr. Graves has ingratiated himself into the evil trio's inner circle but is keeping deep cover on his plans for the portal. Rumors suggest the three are looking for the portal to release a being of immense power into our world, a event that Mr. Graves is no doubt trying to secretly prevent at all costs. This steam locomotive was originally designed by Anthony Sava but with fake pistons and with small-size friction bearing wheels. I added working pistons and Big Ben Bricks medium flanged and blind driver wheels as see here at Ben's website. In my model, gear wheels are used as stand in for the custom wheels that are not in LDD. Even with the added pistons, the engine easily can go around corners and switches. The rear of the loco. The baggage car is supposed to contain all kinds of mobile equipment for tracking strange type of hyper-matter and ecto-plasmic energy fields, among other things. (In reality, all these cars are empty) The dining car and sleeper. This is where the on board crew sleeps in one car and eats in the other. This car is called the war room. In reality, it's a remodeled business car, turned into a room full of charts and chairs and devices for listening for Sasquatches and detecting dragon smoke. It also messes with enemy listening devices and destroys track-side cameras of passers-by. Can't be too careful with the future of the world on the line! NOTES: In reality, I just wanted to build a small passenger train out of dark blue pieces to match the engine I posted a couple months ago to Flickr. I thought at first about making it for the president of the railway line, but a fictional secret government agency from the 1920's works just as well. Comments, questions, and complaints are always welcome. This train could possibly be built in 2019, but I'll have to see.
  2. Hi everyone! Hopefully, this is ok to post here as I'm not really sure where else I'd post it. So recently, I had some time to build and I decided I'd build something ridiculous and absolutely absurd. So here it is: My basic idea was that it is a mobile base made for a few people after an apocalypse or something. Made from nearly 1250 pieces, it features a full interior living space for 2, crow's nest with a machine gun turret, 2 giant propeller engines, and the theoretical ability to float (Since this model is only in LDD, I have no idea if the boat hulls making up the pontoons would be able to hold the weight of the plane or not). Another view of the plane. Another goal of this build was to try and use specialized pieces in odd new ways. For example, using a helicopter blade and fence parts as wing detail. A closer look at the crow's nest. The door and ladder to get in and out, which is mirrored on either side. The small kitchen and dining area. There is also small storage areas with boxes and a chest. There is also a small bedroom in the back with bunk beds. I think my favorite part to build was the cockpit. It just has so many buttons and things to do in, plus it gives the plane it's unique dual windscreen look. I know it isn't perfect or stable, but it was really fun to build. I think it will go down as one of the most bizarre builds I've ever done. If you would like the LDD file, let me know. Thanks for looking!
  3. The awesome tank engine Dutchiedoughnut is assembling inspired me to get stuck into my next project. I destroyed my new dark blue Creator Jet but used the wonderful parts to put together my first Saddle Tank 0-4-0 shunter. Lights by Canvas Rails, on Flickr The Details: Freelance design, there is no DB prototype as far as I am aware (The DB doors were the last ones I had) 6 wide chassis, 7 wide at the saddle tank. All power functions components on board Two working lights Minifig driver (I cheated a bit here, he has no legs on account of the extreme cable situation in the cab) 0-4-0 wheel arrangement of standard Lego wheels fitted directly to a train motor Cranks for the side rods have been kragled to improve reliability at exhibitions Cranks have also been shortened (sorry purists) to work on 12v track geometry Power button activated by pressing the sand dome PF receiver is in the bunker with 1x1 round plate coal LEGO Power Functions Saddle Tank Locomotive in Dark Blue by Canvas Rails, on Flickr LEGO Power Functions Saddle Tank Locomotive in Dark Blue by Canvas Rails, on Flickr LEGO Power Functions Saddle Tank Locomotive in Dark Blue by Canvas Rails, on Flickr LEGO Power Functions Saddle Tank Locomotive in Dark Blue by Canvas Rails, on Flickr I really love this dark blue but it does not photograph well with my lighting setup. The colour in the first photo is closest to how it looks in real life. Does anyone have any suggestions for photographing dark blue? I am considering Bricklinking some more 1x1 dark blue bricks for the cab but then again the black is a nice contrast and is growing on me. I would be most interested in your thoughts. Cheers, Rob
  4. The Merchant Confederacy is vilified group of human-hybrid traders throughout the galaxy. The offspring of enslaved humans, those fortunate enough to escape their bondage banded together in a loose confederation of traders, merchants, pirates, brigands, and colonists. Their biological makeup varies widely and causes great unease to the elites in the A.L.I.E.N. societies. A well renowned leader within the loose confederacy is Captain Bridge Callahan. Upon hearing rumors of a coming invasion, he has pieced together and commissioned a scout ship, "The Libertine," to investigate the G.A.T.E. C&C greatly appreciated.

    [MOC] Lance Ship BRY-798

[ A new, bigger spacecraft done in the same style as a previous one but with the aid of more experience and Bricklink. I retained certain design elements but was able to expand upon the original style in a way that makes me feel better about the whole thing. This new ship doesn't fall apart nearly as often when handled, and to reduce the amount of handling I have to do it comes with its own display stand, modeled after the Action Base accessory kits that are sold alongside Gunpla plastic model kits. In addition, I was able to increase the amount of lime green, dark blue, and trans-neon green, which meant I didn't have to rely on gray greebles as much to fill in the empty spaces. Finally, this ship has much fewer visible studs than the previous and what would have been wasted detail space has been used to great effect (in my opinion)! A bit of lore: While the previous ship in this style serves a scouting/general presence role, this ship comes equipped with two particle lance cannons and a larger particle drive system. This particular variant of the basic drive system comes equipped with a larger particle-reactor core and additional deflectors directly aft of the main particle emitters, as well as a modified particle guide vane geometry. The ship comes equipped with extra secondary particle emitters for better maneuverability as well. Whereas the previous scout ship's particle drive is engineered for long-range endurance and its guide vane geometry is optimized for a higher slipspace speed, this ship's drive system allows for sharper trajectory curves and a wider range of speeds, while also providing the output for the particle lance cannons. Pictures show more than words, so here's the rest.
