    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

I didn't realise that the banner image doesn't just show the Great Hall, but also a bit of the Whomping Willow and presumably the portion of the castle that is included in that set. It all looks utterly delightful and I cannot wait for this!

    Harry Potter CMF Guessing Game

Some of these are pure guesses as I had no idea, haha. Going on the assumption that these are mostly based on Years 1-2 like the sets are, and with a little bit of Azkaban, these are my guesses: Harry Potter. (Philosopher's Stone - blue shirt from Platform 9 and 3/4 scene and first journey on Hogwarts Express). With Hedwig and wand. Ron Weasley. (Philosopher's Stone - Weasley Christmas jumper). With wand and chocolate frog card. Hermione Granger. (Philosopher's Stone - Gryffindor robes). With wand and Crookshanks. Albus Dumbledore (Philosopher's Stone - outfit from opening scene). With wand and baby Harry. Vernon Dursley (Philosopher's Stone - outfit from the letters scene). With Hogwarts letter and owl. Petunia Dursley (Philosopher's Stone). With Dursley family photo. Dudley Dursley (Philosopher's Stone - pyjamas, complete with pig's tail). With Harry's birthday cake from Hagrid. Ollivander (Philosopher's Stone outfit). With wand and wand box. Neville Longbottom (Philosopher's Stone - pyjamas from the scene when he gets petrified). With wand and Trevor. Hannah Abbott/generic student (Philosopher's Stone - Hufflepuff robes). With wand and book. Penelope Clearwater/generic student (Ravenclaw robes). With wand and book. Ginny Weasley (Chamber of Secrets - Gryffindor robes). With wand and Riddle's diary. Gilderoy Lockhart (Chamber of Secrets - light brown robes, cape). With wand and picture of himself. Professor Sprout (Chamber of Secrets outfit with earmuffs). With wand and mandrake in pot. Moaning Myrtle (Chamber of Secrets). With polyjuice potion. Tom Riddle (Chamber of Secrets flashback; black and white ghost). With wand and snake. Filch (Chamber of Secrets outfit). With lamp and Mrs. Norris. Fred Weasley (Weasley sweater). With wand and Marauder's Map. George Weasley (Weasley sweater). With wand and firework. Dementor. With Sirius Black wanted poster. Sirius Black (Prisoner of Azkaban - prisoner outfit). With wand and handcuffs/chain. Sybil Trelawney (Prisoner of Azkaban). With teacup and cup.

2018 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The Hospital is AMAZING. All those figures, a really nice-looking building, such a cute ambulance... My town has never had a hospital, so this was sorely needed. There are definitely places where I would have liked walls that could be on hinges or such and open, but I understand that the designers wanted the interior to be easily accessible for playability (and it's easily modified). Just a really lovely set. Do we know how much it will cost?

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

Considering that the designer was discussing sets, I reckon the PoA influence is absolutely going to be in the Whomping Willow set. It will have the Ford Anglica for the scene in Book 2 where the car crashes, but I will be immensely surprised if it doesn't also come with Lupin or Snape or Sirius in dog form for a bit of PoA flavour. It's one of the most important locations in PoA and considering that LEGO probably won't make a Shrieking Shack again, this set is where you stage your Lupin/Sirius fight. It doesn't sound bizarre to me then that Harry and Ron could be in muggle clothing and have regular legs in this set. The details of the Aragog set sound slightly too good to be true. I would expect an Aragog similar in size to the one from the 2010 Hagrid's Hut, coupled with Harry and Ron (short legged versions in school uniform), and maybe one small tree build with an action feature. If we do get Fang with it though, that'd be amazing. I don't think Peeves being in the D2C Hogwarts is in any way outside of the realm of possibility. It's a massive set generally aimed at hardcore adult collectors; having a few obscure, special minifigs is probably fairly likely.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

It may be best to pick up the Parisian Restaurant, considering it's the oldest Modular currently available so it's the most likely to retire at some point this year. I'm hopefully going to get it myself soon! However if the Restaurant doesn't appeal to you, go for the Detective's Office if it's your favourite!

Fairground Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Wow! This set looks absolutely spectacular. There's no way I'll be able to afford it on top of other things though (the upcoming Harry Potter wave, modulars...), so I just hope it stays on shelves for a very long time.

2018 City Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Thank you! When do you guys think we'll get better images of it? I hope we'll see clear pictures of it soon, my town's been perpetually missing a hospital.

Apologies if this has already been covered in this thread, but does anyone know how much the new City Hospital will cost, and when it will be released? Thanks!

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

Thanks Sir von Lego! The carriage price is a bit higher than I thought it would be, so that's a shame. If it had been 20 euro I'd have certainly bought it in an instant, whereas now I'll probably wait a while. The Great Hall price is excellent! Probably my most anticipated set of the year. Can't wait to see the Whomping Willow set! Most likely I'll fall for that too... and the whole CMF series... oh dear, what have I gotten into.

How did you come out of your Dark Ages?

My Dark Ages spanned around 2011 - 2016. During those years, the only LEGO items I got were gifted to me (mainly collectible minifigs). My interest never entirely left me - I never even considered selling any of my collection, thankfully. I could always appreciate the sets - I remember seeing 'The Forbidden Forest' set from Harry Potter while wandering around shops and being incredibly tempted to buy it, but for whatever reason, I wouldn't spend money on it. I'm not sure what exactly prompted my resurgence of interest, but my best guess is similar to lots of people's experience here - Modulars. Somehow, one day I ended up looking around on the LEGO website out of curiosity, wanting to see what LEGO was like now and what themes were still around. I saw the Palace Cinema, and boom. I still initially found it a surreal experience to spend money on LEGO again, but as soon as I had the box in my hands and started building, I fell in love with it all over again. The Pet Shop followed, and then the Disney series, and it's a slippery slope from there! I don't need to spend money on food...

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

It might be, or just an ornament. Or maybe it's meant to represent a chocolate frog still wrapped in foil. Yep! I think so too - Harry Potter has remained hugely popular despite the books ending in 2007 and the movies ending in 2011. Regardless of Fantastic Beasts bolstering the brand, I think it survives well enough on its own anyway. That said, I don't think Lego would make large waves if there was a year without a Wizarding World film, maybe just one or two sets if anything. I think they gave her regular legs so that she could sit at the teacher's table, which I think is worth getting rid of the skirt.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

The other Wizarding World sets, in order of smallest to largest, excluding the Great Hall, are supposed to be: Aragog in the Forbidden Forest (presumably with Harry and Ron, based on Chamber of Secrets) Unknown Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald set Newt Scamander's Briefcase (with brick-built creatures) The Whomping Willow (confirmed in the Great Hall press release; likely to contain the Weasley's Ford Anglica) Hogwarts D2C. As for the CMF series, a list of them was previously leaked that is now doubtful, because that list included Nearly Headless Nick who is instead found in the Great Hall set. So the CMF figures are a bit of a mystery at the moment.

    Lego BrickHeadz 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

As someone who has never seen any appeal to Brickheadz, that Go Brick Me set is absolutely wonderful. So many pieces for a really generous price, and so much opportunity for creativity! You could make yourself, or you could make all sorts of characters. Really great stuff.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

The Toy Fair one is an earlier prototype, the official pictures are the final set. Thanks for the link! I like the sliding stairs function which they kept on the final model, it's pretty sweet but I hope it's not awkward to push around. Glad they took out the table flipping, those gears look awkward and as Mata_Nui suggested, it'd be a bit fiddly with loose food pieces getting caught under the mechanism. They clearly wanted that to be a suggested scene for kids to play out, considering they're posed having their duel in the official pictures. That doesn't suggest that any feature remains in the set however; just that you can pose the figures to re-enact that duel. I understand, but at the same time I'm thankful that we saw anything at all. Lego really didn't have to reveal any of the Harry Potter sets this early, and it's nice to get a glimpse into their design process and see what was included in the original prototype versus the final product.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

For those who are disappointed with the Basilisk, I think a great Basilisk could be MOCed out of the Ninjago Movie Green Ninja Mech Dragon. I wonder if someone has tried that yet.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

Yep, they were! So it's possible that a brick-built Lupin werewolf could happen in the Whomping Willow set, but we'll have to wait and see. If LEGO stick to Years 1-2 for now, I imagine that if this wave is successful they'd move on to subsequent years. So if there aren't any Prisoner of Azkaban elements to the Willow set and it's purely based around the Ford Anglica crashing into it in Chamber of Secrets, at least we could reasonably expect Year 3 elements in future releases.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

Not really anymore - the inclusion of Nick in the Great Hall set rather than the CMF series throws the information we had into some doubt. Either the rumoured lists remain accurate but the figures are spread about in different sets than we thought, or the rumours weren't fully accurate. However, I think we can safely assume that Harry and Ron will be included in both the Aragog set and the Whomping Willow set as they're both crucial in those scenes. Beyond that, we can really only speculate. The only one I feel secure in guessing is the Aragog set containing a brick-built Aragog with Harry and Ron. The Whomping Willow is a wild card depending on whether or not they continue to just focus on Years 1-2 or if they include elements from Year 3 for that set. If they do touch on Prisoner of Azkaban there, I hope for Lupin, Sirius Black, Snape and maybe Peter Pettigrew. I personally prefer the grey, I think the accuracy helps the model (even though the sand green is pretty nostalgic). I'm really excited about this wave too! Yikes. Accio funds. That would be nice. If they do use Year 3 elements in the Willow set, a brick-built version of Lupin as a werewolf could be interesting. It'd be nice to properly convey his height and shape in that form (the previous version of him as a werewolf was fairly comical rather than accurate), or Sirius in dog form. Although with Sirius I could see them just using a black version of the existing dog mold. --- In regards that Toy Fair display, I'm so glad that it seems to confirm that there are Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff banners! So glad Hufflepuff is getting its dues, hopefully we'll see a Ravenclaw torso in the CMFs or elsewhere.

Jurassic World 2018 - Rumors and Discussion

Interior does seem pretty sparse. I think in terms of upcoming themed buildings, it's not quite as impressive as the Great Hall for Harry Potter or the Sanctum Sanctorium for Avengers. That said, the front facade remains good-looking.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

I don't know that for sure, but based on the choice of sets it does seem that Years 1-3 (if not Years 1-2) are the focus of the main line sets, at least. The Whomping Willow could have Year 3 stuff, but considering that it's meant to include the Ford Anglica it may be primarily Year 2 based. The Great Hall mixes Years 1 and 2. Aragog in the Forbidden Forest is from Year 2. So actually, now that I think about it, it's possible LEGO is only focusing on the first two stories for this wave of sets. However, the D2C and the CMFs may include things from later films/books. We'll have to wait and see.

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

I always thought Ravenclaw would get a torso before Hufflepuff ever did, so it's surprising that Hufflepuff is going to be represented first! Still, I reckon a Ravenclaw torso is bound to follow soon enough. Hopeful that Luna in a Ravenclaw uniform will be part of the CMF series, considering that the list we had for CMFs now seems a bit doubtful. However, if the CMF series sticks to the Years 1-3 timeline we're seeing in the sets, perhaps not Luna. The stickers are a bit of a bummer, but I agree, this set overall is absolutely delightful. I believe the Whomping Willow was confirmed to attach to this set. The UCS Hogwarts will likely attach also. Oh wow, didn't see that! Damn, this set only improves the more you look at it. I have to say I prefer the older Hagrid, but that umbrella and the lantern are sweet. I wonder if LEGO are doing Years 1-3 for this wave to bank on nostalgia, and if it's successful they'll expand into later years in another wave?

I just read Kotaku's article, and they specifically say "reversible" banners, so yeah I think they must be! I love this set more and more.
