    [MOC] Modular Book Shop

A great bookstore that very much looks like the original. Inspires me to visit Amsterdam for the architecture.

    MOC Museum of Civilization

It is. My kids got it for my birthday for just that purpose. A wonderful present that keeps on giving. And I still have hundreds of tan cheese slopes for more MOCs.

    MOC Museum of Civilization

It could have a ghost problem, good catch, but the real reason is I tried using fleshies for the patrons and I don't have too many of them.

    [MOC] The Three Little Pigs

I feels like it belongs in a story book. Great work! You could add the wolf from CMF Series 14 to try to blow the houses down.

    MOC Museum of Civilization

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I had fun with the cheese slopes and used all the blues that I had to create the wave. Coming up with a somewhat realistic totem pole design that fit the space was harder than anticipated. Each of my kids like different sections of the museum as well so I am happy that different people like different exhibits. I like doing the interiors of buildings as much as the exteriors.

    MOC Hudson's Bay Christmas

Thanks. I made it even more dark red, replacing the orangish tan brick layer with brick facade dark red bricks so there is less of a layered effect. I really like the muted candy cane vibe.

    MOC Hudson's Bay Christmas

The North Pole is a bustling place around Christmas. Hope you like the expanded North Pole scene. I have incorporated builds from my daughter's City Advent calendar this year, there is skating, skiing, snowboarding, and caroling going on as well as many snowmen that the elves have built with the snow that only seems to be at the North Pole this year (at least not much snow here in Ontario this Christmas season). Rudolph is practicing his flying. The elves needed a place to sleep so I added a bunkhouse for 2 of them to my general Christmas scene. I really liked Aliencat's Winter Village cottage so the bunkhouse has ideas inspired by that design. The elves of course have Hudson Bay blankets on their bunk bed and the fireplace lights up to keep them warm. The loft area has a quite reading area. Happy Holidays. [MOC] Ralphie's House From "A Christmas Story"

Wonderful job, it looks just like the house from the movie. So many possibilities for scene additions like dogs making off with the turkey. Love to see the interior when done.

    MOC Hudson's Bay Christmas

Thanks for the comments everyone. I loved Christmas window displays when I was a kid. I got to see the HBC windows in person for the first time this year and they have a very magical Christmas feel. I wanted to recreate them in Lego miniature for my home.

It reminds me very much of Edinburgh. Great work on the inside and outside. I really like the double wall so there is colour inside.

Winter Village: HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe

Thanks for posting the real Hudson's Bay Christmas window and everyone else for their comments. I have posted my complete MOC of my rendition of 3 of the Hudson Bay windows combined into one building in a new thread. Cheers
  23. For the past nine years the Hudson’s Bay Company flagship store in Toronto has displayed a beloved series of windows that depict Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves getting ready for Christmas, and other Christmas scenes. My winter village entry is a rendition of two of the five HBC windows. The first scene has elves feeding the reindeer and preparing Santa’s sleigh outside of the Toy Shoppe at the North Pole. The second scene is inside the building where the elves are busy making the toys as Santa goes over his list from the many letters he has received from children everywhere. I have tried to include most of the elements but have altered some of the design. The clock is the central feature of the piece and the elves are busily at work, while Mrs. Claus is helping out by bringing treats. Santa is checking his “Naughty” and “Nice” list after reading the letters sent to him by children around the world. Lego HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe3 by Karen Metz, on Flickr HBC poems that are in front of their windows (I have included one with the display): "With Christmas approaching young children are hoping that their presents will reach them according to plan, all wonderfully donated by a wonderful man. So Santa’s little helpers make sure is all right so that nothing will go wrong on that faithful night. They work with much diligence and a great deal of pride thus ensuring that Santa will have a smooth ride." Lego HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe2 by Karen Metz, on Flickr “The clock is ticking and the hours are dwindling The toyshop is bustling as the elves are preparing The list is revised and a plan is devised There’s no time to pause for old Santa Claus” Lego HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe5 by Karen Metz, on Flickr Lego HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe4 by Karen Metz, on Flickr Lego HBC Santa's Toy Shoppe8 by Karen Metz, on Flickr If you check out my Flickr page I have photos of the actual HBC Christmas windows. I have also created a second story that can be added to my MOC that depicts the last of the five HBC windows with the elves and Santa relaxing to a fabulous meal after all the the presents have been delivered around the world. I have posted pictures of this floor/window as well on Flickr if anyone wants to check it out. It is not quite finished (need to change some parts). I haven’t included this level for the contest since I would have greatly exceeded the size limit. Happy Christmas to all! P.S. The Hudson’s Bay Company is the oldest company in North America (founded in 1670) and is known for its iconic white wool point blankets with green, yellow, red and blue stripes.
