[MOC] NEW UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'
gotoAndLego replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Do you really see so little value in the effort he spent designing and making this that you want them for free? -
So you're trying to tell me that you made something you wanted out of a collection of bricks? Its almost like that is the point of Lego.

Question: What term do we all call ourselves?

Yeah but then we would need to hoard lint and eat cats. -
Question: What term do we all call ourselves?
gotoAndLego replied to Paul B Technic's topic in Community
Mike, it depends on the person. Some people collect and keep them pristine, others collect but play with them. The difference I think between a collector and a casual buyer is that collectors try to get everything they can of a specific type of thing. -

To say you are a collector, you have to try to be fairly complete in what you collect. Its fairly impossible to be a Lego collector, but you can be a Modular building collector, Harry Potter collector, a UCS Star Wars collector, etc. If you just get whichever sets you fancy without a plan or goal of completing your collection as your budget allows then you are not a collector, you just like Lego. You don't need to collect the boxes to still consider yourself a collector, unless you are a Lego box collector LOL, but if you do take the sets out of the box to build/play with that doesn't make you less of a collector, it just lowers the street price of your collection. IMO of course. -

Hogwarts Caboose (4841 Alternate Build)
gotoAndLego replied to gotoAndLego's topic in LEGO Train Tech
To be fair, Hogwarts isn't real either. The British called them the Brake Van or Guard's Van. -
I read it as Imperial Hotel, which is way more interesting. We have vacancies in the Vader Suite.

Did you try making the plates above the lower level widows in red?
-
I think it would be cool if you joined the Upper level road plate sides with tall bridges.
-
If you are worried about scale, there is nothing stopping you from modding/building a 6w plane using bricks.
-
If you are doing a bike path, I think it would look better if you didn't use 2x2 tiles so there is a contrast in texture.
-
Caboose built using just the parts from the engine and passenger car.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Change the color of the banisters. -
Looks impressive but... 1. At the very least your roof panels should not be identical, randomize the pattern of light and dark. 2. I think you should have two separate screens on the first floor instead of a single big one. Would be more realistic that way. 3. I think it would look better if you combined the facade sections so instead of four arched sections on one side you had two. 4. Try to come up with a way to enclose the back of the corner tall roof. Can't wait to see more.

[MOC] Escape from the Goblin Tunnels

That title is way more exciting than "Running down a hill". Beautiful work. -
Assuming it is done well, the Balrog is way cooler than a cave troll.

1930's streamlined 4-8-2 steam locomotive & passenger train
gotoAndLego replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I think it should use curved grey slopes instead of angled ones. It needs something to fill that grey gap at the front, maybe a corner 2x2x1 roof slope.- 22 replies

Just so you know, courses has a "u".

I have to say that I have gone through periods like you described, and the same thing was/is true for me.

The bottom floor is 7 wide, the roof is 8 wide, and the top floor is 6 wide. You could print up a sticker for the sign, but what about the awnings?
-
It's easy to see the size; building is 6 and the roof is 8.
