  1. The 1x1 bricks are on the outside of the curve so that wouldn't affect anything, but I'm sure there are ways to tighten it up. Round 2x2s instead of square 2x2s would help. Bear in mind that the cars are longer so you can't think of it like the train bogies.
  2. Yep, nothing feels forced. I'm sure you could do a tighter radius if you used this instead of regular 1x2 bricks on the inside of the curve.
  3. Here's my first experiment. It's 31 2x2 sections.
  4. I would like the raised baseplate if they had studs on the sides or allowed for the big ugly rock pieces so you could make them look a little custom.
  5. Its always wisest to pick up the oldest set you can. See if there is a user group near you and try trading your Palace Cinema for the Pet Shop/Townhouse; the Cinema is newer so you will have more time to rebuy it. The thing is, while I own the Cinema it's fairly mediocre in my eyes; I think Parisian Restaurant and Detective Shop are much cooler and interesting. If money were an issue I would have no problem skipping the Cinema in lieu of the other sets.
  6. Not to resurrect an old thread, but how large is a 90deg curve? Does anyone have brick count for that curve? How many baseplates does it span?
  7. You could also have an ongoing piece on developing a layout.
  8. I think having them all the same height is boring.
  9. Similar to the Jabba's Palace/Rancor dungeon sets, you need to design it so it can rest on a separate basement level with the containment facility. Extra points if you can make a roof with the explosion/ghosts escaping.
  10. We currently live in a very small house so I usually build a set, display it for a bit and then break it down and bag it before building the next one. The benefit of this is if I don't have any new fresh sets, I can just build an old one again.
  11. Speaking English well and practicing good manners, do not come naturally to everyone. So how should someone offer a correction?
  12. Here is a question... are you interested in corrections as a method of learning English? But yes, accusations of laziness are rude.
  13. Why not build them like this?
  14. LOL nothing. People are making star wars ships and incredible boats. Crowkiller is as good at cars as he is because he kept working on and refining his designs; how far have you refined one of your designs?
  15. Make something you haven't made yet. Think of a set you liked, and do a better job. Make something unlikely. Make something as cool as that forklift.
  16. And you didn't burst into laughter why? I would suggest that 80% of Lego is the childish side of Lego.
  17. There is no way printing at home will be cheaper than mass producing bricks in a factory. Are you really going to be able to match the colors exactly? People get tweaked about slight color variations in their bricks, imagine introducing even more variance in it. AFOLs already buy bricks when they feel they can create something better, but will still buy a set if they like its design. I doubt that is going to change. As suggested it will mostly be useful to make custom pieces.
  18. Unless there is some detail we are missing, I can't answer that without sounding like a smartass.
  19. Just search flickr for layouts and do similar things.
  20. Its a good thing they say "train" on the front or you might have no idea.
  21. How do they feed the catapult up on that tower?
  22. Really nice. I like the white teeth at the base of the waterfalls.
  23. No reason why web-specific content can't be in the web version. If they are printing from he web they already have those links, you would just need the style guide to determine how that content is handled. If you use a URL shortener that you control, then the print magazine can just have a single link to the online version. Something like www.shorturl.com/123. Web and print offer different benefits so don't try to fit both types into print. The web can contain more details and updated info on the article. I worked in magazines for a while so I'd be happy to help. Just PM me if interested.
