Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I find it kind of funny that Itaria keeps weighing in on this topic, yet has what looks like a warrior in the avatar and a British military "beefeater" head below the demo info...in addition to having a tagline about dispensing indiscriminate justice...kind of hypocritical to his/her pacifist statements, but I have to agree with him/her on the point about the poll. Thanks SMC for posting the link to vote on the info...still for a military line myself, but satisfying my crave with the old stuff I can pick up and potc cannons and the like. I have found you can do some really cool naval things with what we have been given from TLG. -
great review and great set, green spacemen? that is very cool, had been waiting to see how this turned out, glad it turned out well, now just waiting to buy

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am not sure what you are reading, the majority is for a military line, but understand TLG is not going to make one even though they have touched on it and worse already. Bottom line is that war has been a constant of my children's lives since they were born since they have relatives in the US Army who are deployed right now in Afghanistan and there are tons of war toys in the US and around the world. AI CZ and Strelki and Aanchir make great points on this page alone...Itaria you have stated several times that you say no to this topic, thanks for your opinion, others will continue to weigh in though for or against, which is great. War is a constant in our world, whether or not TLG does make an actual military theme will remain to be seen as leadership changes in the future at the company. -
As reviews go, yours was excellent, nice pics and commentary, it's the way reviews should be done...the main thing I am reading all over many sites is that folks wish this set was bigger, more on the size of the VW Beetle, a view I share. You did confirm for me what I thought, that while the price point is below that 10 cents per piece threshold, there are a lot of pieces that are overvalued here as they are smaller in size so that the pieces I would consider are worth more than 10 cents do not counteract the multiple pieces that are about in the 4 cent range so this makes the value a bit weak for the money regarding piece count in my opinion. If anyone is going to MOD this into a double size vehicle, I would love to see it, I really liked the convertible option that was done earlier but just feel this mini is too mini, alas that won't stop my checkbook from opening, just will be cringing from doing it.

took a look at your pinterest board, have to say the mid 21st century Cali House is amazing, that is my favorite of what I saw, again would buy that in a heartbeat, the one from dwell and also from davekaleta are also amazing. I agree Spencer's tower should be shown to a lot more folks if possible, that is why I like the architecture line so much, guys like y'all that can do these MOC's and have such high quality, wish I was that good and creative

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Thanks Rick, I know about nonnative English speakers, for even though you assume I am one, well you might just be incorrect. If the site is going to be done in English, then those that are non native English speakers should understand English syntax...trust me it takes years to figure it out, but it can be done, that said if Dharkan said no insult was meant, then I will take that at face value, it certainly comes across that way though, sometimes no comment is better than having to chime in. -
I have seen this building a few times, you did a great job on the MOC, I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think this would be great and really it fits in with a big city type block that I feel they are doing. Sort of the brownstone house feel they have in NYC and other places. Could easily do an art gallery on the bottom and living upstairs. The US used to have lots of this kind of thing prior to the big box stores coming in, actually one of the best things they could do, but I know they wouldn't and I know why and all that so no reason to rip on me for this like a lot of folks do to others, but almost every town like the one that Lego is building had that corner bar where folks would go after work. That would be cool, but alas, never done. Half modular would not be $75 though based on what I am seeing, the trend is more little pieces with a bigger price tag like PR. I would guess half modular for $85 - $90. Dharkan - when you say providing people in your mindset a cheap modular like set, what do you mean? It is not clear, sounds like you just called him cheap to me, this is not what we want posted on the site. Please refrain from the insults and stick to the topic. If you knew what he meant then just leave it at that. Thanks -
I find this comment to be dead on, I really don't care if I am in the Lego aisle or Lego store by myself or with my kids. I see folks of all ages, even upper 60's, in the Lego Store all the time and they are now retired and having something fun to do...one guy told me he hated golf so he fills his time with what he enjoys. I think I was in a dark age more because of having kids that were young and not into it, and also building my salary level. The disposable income wasn't there. I wish I had come out of it a bit earlier though. I made a huge mistake too, I had gotten all of the early Star Wars lego but when my daughters showed no interest I sold them...every single first 2 waves of Star Wars legos, every set from 1999 and 2000...and the kicker is I sold them at cost. The good news if there is any is that I know the kid I sold them to and have offered to buy them back if he wants to sell, sad thing is he threw away the boxes and only the good Lord knows if the instructions are still there, but if I could get the pieces I can figure out the instructions.

really like the convertible option you did, sadly this is about the size of the Mini I expected to see, I really wish they had made it twice this size...for $100 US I do not feel this is a super value, sure it is still below the 10 cents per part, but I see a lot of 1x1 pieces there, which to me should be no more than 2 cents per piece This is like opening a bag of chips that is half air...sigh. Still, I will likely pick it up, so I complain and yet go against my complaint.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
what is the feel that TLG could do 2 modulars a year instead of just one? I think they have the talent in designers to do it, just not sure if they would want to do that many since the price point is higher, would like to see it, the only issue I see is they might run out of ideas, at some point I would like to see a lower priced city park made, fountain in the middle, cool stuff done on the park like trees, flowers and such, maybe a dog catching a Frisbee, something like that -
that is too sweet, wonder how much that will cost me on ebay, very nice set I would like to pick up, but not getting to Billund any time soon unfortunately

Why is the Series 1 Zombie so expensive?
Herky replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in Special LEGO Themes
there were a lot of zombies in the Pharaoh's Quest line, but I too am wondering about the gunner zombie...I know we had Pharaoh's Quest and Monster Fighters and the minifigure, trying to recall what other sets might have had zombies, are there any "classic" zombies from the old adventure sets?- 43 replies

I was hoping to see the Smaug set for the Hobbit as well, but maybe I got the date wrong, isn't that supposed to be this year as well? Could be this is only what Germany is getting and there are different sets for different parts of the world. I am not sure why TLG does that but we know it happens.

I like the new poly but I have been looking for the last one, 30114 beach lounge, anyone in the US seen this one?
-
milan - have you ever seen the VW Charlotte Beetle? Now that is the best car Lego ever made, it's big, and the details are way more amazing than the van or the new mini, that sad I would put the mini right in line with the VW van, a bit disappointed in the size, but will be on my shelf, I wonder if TLG will do a mini model like they did with the van.

has to be with the press release on it today -
too small, I wondered about the scale, had hoped for VW beetle scale, sadly they went VW van small, oh well, will be getting it, and yes more stickers! the logo on the front hood was obviously a sticker that stuck out in the video, I assume the back "mini cooper" rounds are stickers as well. I agree on the steering wheel, you better not be a big person to fit in that seat and drive, overall a good set, but could have been so much more, now that it is official though, we know what that July VIP presale is for sure

Monthly Exclusives for VIP members Discussion
Herky replied to Herky's topic in General LEGO Discussion
then again for the US and Canada anyway, it could be the Architecture Trevi Fountain since they just posted a release date of Aug 1 on that one, 60 days after the release to everywhere else, but I do hope it is the mini cooper myself, the tumbler is really a good set, but I would go mini before it, anyone have a pic of the mini? I just hope it is on the VW beetle size and not the VW van size, it deserves to be a bigger model -
I looked to see if there was a thread on this but couldn't find it, if there is, moderators please merge. Just saw July 2014 will have an exclusive VIP on the 18th for VIP members in the US. We know the May one was the UCS Sandcrawler. Maybe this thread can be a way to track the info on when these come out and what the discussion is on what the exclusives might be... I am hoping this is the mini cooper, but I am not holding my breath on it. Anyone know any info on what the July exclusive will be?

Steve, I would wait, you know it will get to the stores sometime, very disappointed in TLG today though, but they are like any other big corporation I guess, you get what you get the way they want you to get it. If you really do want to import it, you can switch the Lego Shop to a different country and create a new name and all, not worth the trouble to me, the set will make it here at one point. Agree with RollerMonkey, very lame, guess they did not want to interfere with the Ghostbusters release here in the US, not sure if that released to Europe today or not. My daughter was also hoping new Friends would make it, but really the only thing was GB and 3 Guardians of the Galaxy sets

Trevi is not for sale in North America apparently until later this month or July, talked to the manager today when I picked up the Ghostbusters, but they said yes, available all over Europe today and I verified that on the Lego Shop but nothing for the US or Canada yet. Frustrating...
