  1. It is hard to tell what these buildings will really look like without knowing piece count, I hope these aren't small...time will tell.
  2. now that is a surf shop, I can't imagine the rumored detective agency modular would be any better, would buy this in a heartbeat, great build and thanks for sharing with us
  3. Thoughts on week 1 NFL, the NFC West is where the best teams are, 49ers, Seahawks and in some respects, the Cardinals...Denver seems the class of the AFC again with some other teams wanting to climb that ladder...weakest division by far is NFC East College - I do not disagree with FSU #1 right now but Alabama might be the 4th best SEC team with Auburn, LSU, A&M in there, Oregon looks very tough, USC as well, Va Tech might be back as well as Oklahoma. I have to say top to bottom Pac 12 and SEC are tied for best conferences so far with ACC, Big 12 then Big 10 as far as power conferences go. Fun games every weekend in the college game, Mariota is your Heisman winner if he keeps it up, just can't see Winston or anyone else edging him out unless he goes into a downturn.
  4. With the front page article on the reboot of Bionicle, I do wonder if they will have that as the key announcement...Lego is sealed up too tight now, we need some leaks
  5. very cool, my wife grew up on Doraemon or as she knew it, Xiao Ding Dong (Mandarin Chinese) and now it is on Disney and my kids and I watch it. Kind of kooky but a lot of fun, you did a great job with these
  6. the facebook one? I guess I didn't get that this was a new reveal, if it is, great, will be nice to have some closure on this...if it is the modular...I like the elves set and the confirmation of 2x points, which we sort of knew anyway, and then set 2 from the elves last year was black Friday We do have the Lego Halloween sets at our store right now, and folks were buying them like crazy, one is a nice cake topper with Dracula and a coffin and the other set is a bat...my queries on modular again went unanswered today since no one seemed to know. Will be fun to see what it is.
  7. I was looking at the October store calendar...maybe I am slow, where does it list that a new exclusive set will be revealed? http://www.bricksandbloks.com/october-2014-lego-store-calendar-sales-promos-events/
  8. well, it's just a rumor at this point, so no one knows if the next modular will be a detective agency, a few pages back it was a bank, we have thrown out many guesses, but no concrete proof of anything yet also remember these mini TRU October are FREE sets so they are likely not meant to be added to the previous mini set, just something to entice folks to spend more money at TRU...which is usually priced 20% more than other places and they don't even have the modular line in the store...only time I ever stop in is to check what polybags they have, which I haven't done in a long time since they are always the same. The Lego store has 2 Halloween sets out now, a bat and the other is a Dracula stand up, both kind of cool.
  9. I love this, I introduced my kids to the movie series this past summer, and pretty much annoyed the heck out of them by reciting all the lines...hahaha...next MOC should be at the end where they are all still up on the rocks. Or just move on to the next versions of the grabboid...what a fun build, but yes, need about 400 more guns in the basement. I always say, why are they still on the rocks, the grabboid is dead much to my wife's chagrin. Thanks for sharing, very creative and a lot of fun.
  10. interesting that one of the mini modular is a pizza place, something that is not in our line of larger ones, these are normal TRU promotions, in the past they did minifig magnets, then last year was a minifig set, interesting they upped it this year to do the modular so I am expecting they are really mini, not like the other set based on the modular line, they will be no more than 2-3 inches high so the supposition that you could easily mod them to fit might be a bit off, but with creativity I think it could be done, just take more than most would think...it's a 6x8 plate after all, so maybe 150 pieces each? That is still a nicer little se than the minifig magnets that I have.
  11. Having watched the first 2 episodes of the new season, definitely NOT a kids show, but definitely confusing...not sure I am liking Capaldi yet, just doesn't have the quirky panache of Smith; he's a good actor but his humor so far is just off
  12. I agree with VintageLegoEra...and to be honest, I never paid any attention at all to who the designers were, just have fun with their creations...I think it is great that many know who designed what and all that. I feel they should get their picture and name in the instruction manual, be a nice way to honor them, but the only designer I really ever heard of was Adam Reed Tucker on the Architecture line and I am not sure he is a TLG employee. It's all good to me no matter who designs it.
  13. Oct 9 is the day it starts, who knows what will leak before then, but I have to agree with everyone that it is likely JW to kickoff promos with the movie, will be interesting to see what comes out of it though
  14. I think Flatiron could be considered both, it is classified as a Landmark sure, but Daniel Burnham was the architect and while he is not FLW, he did many buildings in cities in the US and oddly the Phillipines. The main issue I have with him is that most of his buildings are a bit boring...even Flatiron other than the iconic shape of it, is not exciting, kind of hearkens back to the first skyscrapers they did with Sears Tower and Hancock and such...giant office buildings.
  15. I called Lego support and talked to a guy who had the same issue, I will be thrilled to see a review once they come out, the Battle Tower one she picked out looks like it would be a lot of fun. Good thing is we can return it with store credit.
  16. actually the very first Friends polybag The Beach was a UK exclusive, took a long time to find that one...so I would not say the US gets it all, that said, we were at the store yesterday and none of the employees knew a thing about the release date for series 5 here in the US
  17. I will be interested to see if this rumor comes to fruition...Detective Agencies...you could even go back to the famous Pinkerton's in the late 1800's in the US, but I see a seedy place much like what has been described, a pretty secretary out front, a smoking cigar with a slow moving fan in the office with a big private dick at a desk and of course, the Hollywood damsel telling the story, file cabinets and old food laying around, newspapers from the last year in a corner...pretty cliché really, tons of movies done with this exact scenario. Usually they were upstairs and they never seemed to show what was on the ground floor. I am not sure this is a Lego set in this vein, fun to speculate though.
  18. My daughter was super excited to get this, so we picked up the Battle Tower version, gets it home, super excitement and....bam, Fusion is not compatible with any of our devices. On the site we go, and while we have the devices it is compatible with, our versions are one version earlier than what is necessary for this product to work. So...caveat emptor here my friends, go check the list of devices before you buy any Fusion product and make sure you have compatible. Will save some heartache and a returned product. Was hoping to give a review to you all of how it worked, but alas, it will be a trip for a return.
  19. I was just clicking through the modular submissions on Lego Ideas, some really good MOC's on there that could be used for inspiration for the designers. The History Museum was very well done I thought and is halfway I think to the 10K support needed. Saw a nice bakery/hardware one, just impressed overall at the quality that folks put into their creations, especially knowing that several of those came from people on this site. Faefrost, your moc in your posts included for sure, I love that one and think it would be a cool add to the modular block. I am not too worried about the modular line, I do think that the 3 floor idea could run out at some point, but with all this to look at and use, TLG has many years to go...I think if we get a modular in the first 4 months of 2015 that will be fine, but a look at the list of other sets (amazed and thrilled there were 2 architecture line) and what I know I will buy along with my kids, I am going to be broke next year as it is. Would be nice to hear something though, even a "hey thanks for all the interest, we are working on it and we really think you will like it" statement from TLG
  20. definitely good news...I wonder if we shouldn't take the year off and just combine all Architecture news/discussion threads into one though, seems that with so few new sets we may not need a yearly discussion thanks for posting pics of the 2 buildings too
  21. a huge list for 2015 came out yesterday but nothing on modular series...City is getting a toy and grocery shop much like the other bike shop Thanks to OTW for this link: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=691273&page=347 Check that out and the next page for new sets that are put out there for us so far, lots of cool stuff, including 2 new Arch sets but no modular announcement
  22. Herky

    Doraemon

my wife watched this cat when she was little in Taiwan and just this year, the Disney channel has brought it to the US so my kids are seeing it and really like it. In Chinese the name is Xiao Ding Dong but it has been fun to see that pass from mother to daughters...we have a stuffed one we got in Taiwan for $2, couldn't pass it up, where did you get your figures?
  23. For some reason the US is way behind, we haven't seen 5 on our shelves yet...glad to hear you were able to get 6, no idea why we are so far behind, they sell pretty well here
  24. use of Lego to illustrate his points, I give that a 10, very cool showing the speeding up of the building and use of the Lego to illustrate his point...totally inaccurate use of facts to get his point across though and a very sad commentary using the Lego medium cause it's a crock, I know a guy who came from poverty and is a multi millionaire, don't tell him he has to stay down, but I digress...I see what everyone is saying, but if you read into TLG history, they were toy makers who came up from nothing and now are billionaires, it kind of goes against the whole Lego story in itself. I guess we would need Talos to post what his/her original intent for posting was, if it was to just call out the Lego illustration, great, if it was political in nature, then I would lock or delete the thread, we had enough politics on the military theme thread as it was.
  25. Looks like Friends is all over the place, continue to look for Series 5, while my daughter is excited about the jungle sets, but she is not sure on the shopping mall, anyone have this yet to give an opinion?
