Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Itaria, I know you may not know this, but using the KKK letters, even though that is his initials, is actually pretty offensive to most Americans since here, that is a white racist/supremist group. I think TLG gets away with some military sets due to the fact they don't have a military theme in itself. Planes, jeeps sure, doubt we will see tanks or gun replicas, maybe a motorcycle, but I doubt it. I do not think TLG has some great moral policy other than what makes money, they will operate as ethically as they can, but they will also produce sets that make money. Is this hypocritical, maybe, maybe not...just depends on your point of view. Fact: Lego does make military sets Fact: There is no military theme Fact: There are no first world countries (and not many 2nd or 3rd for that matter) that does not have a military to protect themselves That's it, accept it and move on, let's stop arguing, it is beneath our intelligence at this point since all opinions have been well stated from each side, respect that others disagree and move on. I would love to see more planes myself, and like the hummer, would like to see a bigger scale in the military green -

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
at this point, this topic needs to be taken down, it is not on topic at all, Itaria, with Italy's violent history, esp during WWII I can see how you think this way, but since you did not suggest any sets or possible sets, just stating your political opinion, you really didn't need to post...these threads are not here for personal political diatribe, for any of us...the question was aimed at if TLG started making the sets would children enjoy them and what sets...this is a simple yes or no question and if you put yes, then list some sets. Instead it has become a circus of politics and really denigrated into a sad thread overall...let's face it, TLG is a bit hypocritical on this as we know, but they own the business, they are not a public entity with stock holders, so they set the policy on what they produce to make them the most money. MOC up your military if you want, but in reality we can't discuss this or anything religious or topics like that due to all the intolerance for open opinion. The best thing a moderator can do here is get rid of this thread at this point. -
let's hope that set in such abundance in a grocer will start to lower the prices I am seeing out there, not a must have by any means, can wait for the bigger, better one when it comes out when the Lego House is finished, but would be kind of cool to have it, agree with Vee though, would need to be a good price range

very nice, now to figure out how to buy one

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
getting back to the topic, sort of I guess, but I would love to see planes based on this, the recent 31011 aviation adventures is a WWII type plane to me, then you have 10226 Sopwith Camel, umm...anyone not realize this was a WWI fighter plane? So I disagree with the misnomer that TLG doesn't put out some military type sets. The values of TLG is to maximize profit, that is the key value of any business. Please folks, do not be so naïve in that nor the fact that most children are being taught this in elementary schools related to the world wars and even wars today. Too many people have served or are serving for kids to not have a friend or relative affected by this even today. To think otherwise is to put your head in the sand. It's not like this period of time isn't huge in our world history and anyone would be stupid to forget what war can do...I feel this series could work but would be targeted to the AFOL audience, I am not a giant fan of some themes myself, but I just don't buy them, I am not even sure I would buy this one. The same would be said of AFOL's in any country who would not wish to buy this line if it was made but others would get the whole line. -
so is series 4 & 5 out? in TLG stores?

Top 5 LEGO Architecture sets? What's your favorite?
Herky replied to henrysunset's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Top 5, no money restrictions: Robie House Fallingwater Farnsworth Guggenheim Marina Bay Sands Have them all like a lot of folks, thanks to my friend Rollermonkey on MBS, guess I like the FLW buildings most, there is another thread we had here on what folks would like to see made as well. Steve - I like your WTC and CN Tower. I would love to see Lego move into famous ballparks like Wrigley, Fenway, Baltimore, Dodgers, Giants and more. I believe Trevi is June. There is a lot of conjecture on what makes up the Architecture line, some include the creator expert series, some just stick to the Architecture label on the box for the 21xxx series. You also have the creator 3 in 1 houses.- 31 replies

I was hoping maybe someone knew what 03 was, I have not been able to find any info about that one, but did find most of the sets in pics now, 01 is very cool, but the prices on these sets are up there, Kladno, being the newest, is the one that is seemingly affordable at this time. I haven't checked BL for them yet, but imagine they are high as well.
-
Here is the list for the special 4xxx series, most are very hard to find and not even easy to find pics of them: 4000001 - Moulding Machines 4000002 - LOM Moulding 4000003 - ? not sure this one has been made 4000004 - Systematic Creativity Toolbox 4000005 - KOM Moulding 4000006 - Kladno Campus 4000007 - Ole Kirk's House 4000008 - Villy Thomsen Truck 4000009 - HMV Production 4000010 - LEGO House 4000011 - Nyiregyhaza Factory (no picture, released during 2014) 4000012 - Piper Airplane 4000013 - A LEGO Christmas Tale

Likely need a thread just for that since it is not really Architecture, also you should do a review of it while building and post that, would be great, since it is only 200 pieces or so, should be a great review.

agree, apparently though this lady is saying she emailed Lego directly and they told her a European release only...I am thinking this will be a June release and agree, no way can they limit it to a regional release, I do not know if many Americans have been to MBS but I know a lot of folks who have been to Rome. It's a no brainer to sell it world wide if you ask me, just hope we get some info at some point, it seems TLG just hates to give out info on the Arch line, but we know the drop ship and Benny's spaceship and the sandcrawler and many more...frustrating to say the least.

Just saw something online that says the Trevi Fountain will not be sold in the US as well...this was a rumor, and as much as I dislike rumors, I do not want to conjecture on whether it is true or not, still, if this one is not sold in the US on the heels of the MBS not sold anywhere but Singapore, that is going to really frustrate the Architecture line collectors...anyone know anymore about Trevi at this point?

very cool to pick up that copter, it's a great set, agree with you 100% that sale is great for the big pieces that are not marked up very much, but you have to be careful, I think in the end we were saying the same thing from different sides of the coin. Darth Dino - you are right, perhaps in the future we need to use the title, U.S. TRU's sale prices, I have been to a TRU in Taiwan and was amazed at the difference in the selections they had there, this was back in 1999 and that was my lego dark ages as they say but got some gundams they didn't have in the US and later sold them for 100% profit. It's hard not to be relevant to where you are though. That is why I like the buy/sell/trade section here but I feel it is way underutilized.
-
DrJB - I agree with you for the most part, but your price at TRU is rare, TRU usually marks up 20%. On that particular set it looks like you are only getting charged 10% more. Your math is fine, but you have to look at the set price. Ex...item X is $14.99 at Lego, but is $19.99 at TRU, do the math there and you don't have such a bargain. It just depends on what you are wanting to buy.
-
3657 bricks is what I am seeing on the LDD file, this is great, thanks!
-
the main issue with this is that TRU prices are 20% higher on each set (24.99 instead of 19.99) so let's say you get the creator furry creatures and jungle creatures...both marked at 24.99, you get one at 24.99 and the next at 12.50 which comes out to be 37.49. Your savings over the normal price of 39.98 is only 2.49 which is 6% off your total purchase, plus you lose out on the points if you are a VIP member. If you can get TRU to price match, then you have an actual bargain, otherwise you are actually paying normal price really even with the sale

The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
Herky replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My Lego store, talked to the manager who told me they were building the Sea Cow to bring in for display on Monday...they couldn't "tell" me that it was the Sea Cow but she also knew that everyone knew already so it is not a surprise. She confirmed the $250 price but said it was close to 2700 pieces...not sure why, I keep seeing the Spaceship S..S...is March 1, but she said they hadn't told yet, apparently there is a big manager conference in Dallas next week as well where they will find out about stuff. I asked her about the rumored mini cooper, she hadn't heard, but I asked her to find out for me. Going to hold out for the S..S..S, in March.- 2,626 replies

thank you, this is a great resource, thought I was doing pretty well, but I see I have a ways to go, if only I could go back in time and tell my young self to heavily invest in picking up all these sets

My apologies if this is redundant post, but have been trying to find a definitive list for classic space. I have 13 sets from back in the day, 7 with original boxes, and all have instructions. I have been looking to try to complete the set but am not sure I have a total list. Here is what I have on the list but I think I am missing some and wondered if there was a big list I could pull into excel and check them off as I obtain them...harder to do now that the Lego Movie has come out, I am sure classic space collecting will take off again.
-
I was skeptical of the spaceship at first, but after seeing that video, I am pumped to get it now, I know it says that it will be sold in March and the US is $125 for the cost. I am thinking they mean March 1st on the sale date, am going to TLG store tomorrow anyway so will ask...thanks for posting that video.

Sacrilegious! Blasphemy! Walmart rant
Herky replied to Lego Otaku's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
LOL no, Walmart goes into the black on Jan 5 if I recall correctly, so they don't need Lego as much as Lego needs the largest retailer in the world...Lego sales would plummet if WM booted them. TLG rep is unlikely to say anything except try to get his/her product out of the warehouse and on the shelves ASAP. What kills me is the folks who buy Lego at Toys R Us, which is always a 20% markup from the lego store or WM or Target...I don't go to KMart so not sure if they stock or what their prices are. -
I have to agree, I had never looked at the number on The Lego House set, seeing that it is a 4XXX number, it would not be a part of Architecture line. However from what I have read on this, they will be releasing a larger, more colorful set of this house after it is finished in 2015. Marina Bay is definitely labeled as part of the Architecture line though, so if you are a completest, then you will want to try to pick it up. I posted earlier too that a shop in the Netherlands is advertising as stocking it in May. Let's hope the release of these sets will drive down the insane high prices on the set.
