very interesting, I had thought about counting the "bumps" on the top of the piece, but then you have thicker pieces than others of course, this actually breaks it down pretty well.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Does anyone remember when the Paris Rest started selling? I am thinking they will not let us know at this point until 4 months out from selling date. -
What license plate number will you put on your 10242 - Mini Cooper
Herky replied to JGW3000's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I like it, I have seen that on mini's here in the states even, but not on a green one -
opn you said: While I'll agree with you that the price is excessive abroad, this set is pretty fairly priced when you compare it to other sets at MSRP. In fact, it's the 5th best set as far as price-per-piece at MSRP goes in the US. Yes, there are a lot of extremely common parts therein, but there are also several in new colors. Factor in the nicer box and manual and the price seems pretty fair from a North American standpoint. It's one thing to not take any interest in the part content, but when you consider that the only four sets with lesser price-per-piece ratios are two modular buildings and two sets of bulk bricks... I disagree, if you have a set like this one with say 300 1x1 or 1x2's, then your pieces are smaller than other set...the only fair way to judge any set on price is by lego bump (well I call it that, by what I mean is the circle with lego on it, not sure if there is an official name). In any case, so say we have 900 lego bumps for Trevi, vs another set that has less pieces but more bumps then I would say Trevi has less value. Keep in mind that other $50 sets in my mind are not great values either, White House at $50 was only 530 pieces and there are others. Also Willis Tower and the others in that vein are early versions and true not real impressive. I imagine if TLG did them over they would do in the style of Pisa vs their smaller stature. I guess it comes down to opinion, which mine was that I didn't enjoy this build, and felt it too pricey, but I know the market is that way...I can deal with the price issue moreso than the long wait and tiring build. Pisa was more fun a build for me and it was just basically repetitive, this one was not repetitive but I didn't like it...maybe I need to go work on an assembly line I guess. Maybe it was the long wait and then this was it with no others coming in sight...I don't know, just didn't like it at all, but like many I am a completest so I have it and will keep it.

LEGO Minecraft (Minfigure Scale) 2014 Rumors and Discussion
Herky replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nov = Fall? Technically I guess Dec 21 is the start of winter...but my kids are going to be sorely disappointed to wait that long, at least we have seen some movement on this. -
rollermonkey, you hit the nail on the head, the set takes great pics, I will give them that, but the build stinks, too many 1's and 2's...instead of price per piece on this one, I think price per lego bump is a better way to gauge it. It should have been $15 less. Also you better build this on a flat surface or it doesn't stick together well. I tried to do it in front of the tv on the carpet while the ball game was on, big mistake. So far, build wise, this is the worst set in the line. Looks...meh, 6 out of 10, build 2 out of 10, price point an easy 2 out of 10, there is nothing that suggests this should have been more than $35 to me, just not a good representative of the line as a whole. I would give this set a total 5/10...below average to me and that is how I voted, bordering on poor due to cost and build. Box and booklet are cool though.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
at the store, got new releases, asked on modular, talked straight to the head store manager, she had not heard a thing yet...we discussed bank, she said she would like to see a school and then another guy and I said hardware store same time...so we seem to be in agreement with Lego Store employees, but nothing official has been heard in the Midwest stores yet at least. -
What's number one on your list to get 1st August?
Herky replied to talos's topic in General LEGO Discussion
saw the stuff online were already out, so went to the store, picked up Trevi, Exo Suit, Research Lab and then the suckered me in by having Hobbit Pirate Ship Ambush on sale $20 off, just couldn't pass it up. Lots of new Friends sets, but didn't have the Series 5 animals for my daughter yet, nor the mall, I couldn't remember what she didn't have so just one small set for her that was new. Spent almost $200 even with points. -

Trevi and the Research lab for my daughters, got the Mini on day one, there are some great things about it and some really poor things about it, but if you have the prior VW Beetle and the VW van, you should pick it up, could have been way better Will be checking other stuff out, Mos Eisley is a desire -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
LOL, while we know what OTW said was in jest, it does look a lot like the dollhouses that were sold in the US in the 1970's and 1980's...too funny. Hardware store would be cool, I recall watching a lot of Happy Days and the store that Howard Cunningham owned would be great, for this I would put the store at 2 floors worth, then an outside stairway to an upper apartment, good idea -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I mentioned this to OTW, but wonder if there couldn't be something less flat as a front for the modulars, that is one nice thing about PR, not a flat front, although I might have made the same building in regular size, but have a second story or third story dining patio vs just a smaller building overall. Maybe go for some doorways that are back even with archways in front as an overhang? Alcoved doorways? Having looked through a lot of MOC's and MOD's there are a lot of great ideas, just wondering if there was a way to mix it up a bit. I like the thought of mixed architecture in the buildings, the cool thing on the cinema was the roof to me, very different, sure it was a bit like the Chinese theater in Hollywood, but it was a bit different. Art deco is very cool too, have seen some great MOC's in that style. -
thanks Tom for posting, having been there, I really like the Tapei 101 you shared, hadn't seen that somehow...great job putting it all together and what fun to see all the creativity that people have to make these models.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Herky replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
one has to wonder though, how many more modular buildings can actually be made, we have bank, library, museum and police station mentioned...sure there are lots of other buildings out there, but do they fit with the current town feel that TLG has created? With 9 created so far, and trust me, I really like this line, but how many are they going to do realistically? I would imagine they would run out of 3 story buildings at some point. Not trying to burst bubbles, just a discussion point, interested in others opinions. -

a bank would work, interesting though, did it work with the pattern? I can't remember which page but someone had a pattern that they seemed to follow...TLG will not do a casino...a Museum would be cool, but unlikely to make it work, we have a grocery store, a mall, a theater, a fire station, a market, a hotel, a pet shop, a restaurant and a cinema...so a bank would go along cause everyone is going to need money to frequent these places. A library would be cool too, although 3 floors of books may not thrill people. -
I find it interesting that the Facebook Lego Architecture page is heavily promoting the Architecture Studio release in Europe for this Friday Aug 1, but not promoting the Trevi release in North America. The Arch Studio is readily available in the US and Trevi is readily available in Europe. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of sets sold in the two hemispheres. Still no rumors or anything for the next architecture set leading me to believe we will not see anything til at least mid 1st quarter of 2015.

yes, understand, after looking at the video, you are right, none of the pieces, outside of the two nameplates, look to be specially made just for this set, but the combined set in itself, with the box, is what makes it special...I might have to look for the instructions to this series and try to bricklink them and figure out how to make the nameplates

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
honestly they could do a UCS tank the size of the Batman tumbler, it really wouldn't be hard to change it up all that much, or a jeep that size -
the moc on the Lake Point Tower, that is one that is pretty much ready made for marketing, the guy did an awesome job on the build even if they did more "landmarks" like Trevi, I would be good, I would like a Taipei 101, mostly cause I have been there, but at least 4 a year is my desire, big or small

thanks for the info, will have to frequent Target a bit more, I stopped going to TRU...my main issue is I know there is a toy shop guy who goes around frequently and pretty much buys all the ones you know others want, so the Robin cycle, he had 30 of them in his store, I finally broke down and got one from him, at least it was only $10 (this was about 3 months after they came out) Good luck to all, will have to check that thread out and bookmark it

I agree Ceir, I did find the Batman tumbler polybag, but for the most part, it's hit and miss, very hard to find some bags and yet, some, as you say with Target, sit around forever.

From what I see it started in 2008, 2 sets released, 2009 3 sets released, 2010 1 set as you mention, 2011 6 sets, 2012 4 sets, 2013 5 sets (included Marina Bay here since it really was 2013, also Arch Studio) and 2014 2 sets I was thinking it should be about 4 sets a year, true we aren't going to get waves, but I don't think 4 a year is out of the question, 1 per quarter

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks Bob, it was getting tiring since everything stated was "offensive" since it wasn't in complete agreement with the other poster that the rest of us then get called disrespectful, works both ways, discussion over, but I am sure Itaria will have something to say. -
I agree, would like to see a review if you decide to open, I really wish, since TLG is severely slowing down on the Arch line that they would produce more of these for the AFOL's that really like this line as well. Go back and reissue, I have one, the Kladno, it's very cool even if it is small.

My local store told me next Friday which is strict street date...and no announcements or rumors for anything new in Architecture for 2014, kind of a dying line of product I guess, sure seems this way

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?
Herky replied to KisKatona's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Itaria, you keep posting that when someone disagrees with you, they are not respecting your opinion...but that is what you keep doing by posting over and over and over again on this thread. There are people who would love a military theme line, you keep disrespecting their opinion by telling them that it is wrong. And no, one life is not less than important than 100,000, all life is precious. Just ask your parents on that, I realize English may not be your first language so you may not even be catching the subtleties of your posts and disrespect yourself, I had to learn that myself, now I am attuned to it. Let's just let the new poll worry about this discussion. I would ask that if you want a theme post away and your ideas, naval, land, air...if not, then please just voice your displeasure in the poll.
