Ok, so I'm a bit stumped? In the designer video they discuss the Numbers (Roman numerals) on the printed brick below: V = 5 M = 1000 V = 5 I = 1 I = 1 How does this become a set number? 5000511 or 51000511 or 51511? Anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong working out what set number this is a reference to? It's been a few years since I had to do anything using Roman Numerals.......

Honestly in general I'm finding Amazon more and more messy for purchasing Lego at the moment. There entire search engine is being messed up by sellers description. I type Lego Technic into the amazon serach, and the first 4 that come up are not even Lego sets. Some chinese clone rubbish which is "compatable" I've just checked again, and you are right, every st 10261 on Amazon at the moment is being sold by 3rd party sellers, not Amazon. just so confusing. It would be nice if they gave you the option to only show Amazon direct stock.

I've got the exact same million dollar question. I generally always wait and can usually in the UK get big sets at 33% off, either via Argos, Amazon, John Lewis or Smyths Toys, however this roller coaster is proving to be more of a challenge. I'm always surprised to see it on Amazon at up to £60 more than the list price from Lego? I cannot think who would be buying it at higher than list price? But of late I've noticed some very dynamic pricing going on with Amazon and my IP address. They are pushing the prices up the following day if you search for it a second time. Anyway, best I've seen in the past is £250 (Smyths Toys) 16% discount, for a £299 set. I'm just holding out and cannot decide whether to bite the bullet and buy next time it drops to £250 in Smyths, or wait and hold out that Amazon might get enough in stock that they then discount by 33% I want/need the set but as always, the more you save, the more you have to spend on another set.

I think you are onto something here. Either they have changed the provider for their reward points system and it does not update as quickly as the old one, or euqlly likely, they have changed their ERP/MRP system and the new one does not intergrate the point as easily. It's not like the old points system did not work, or was just simple......when you checked out, you simply looked to see if you had any points. Boom, £10 discount.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Watching that video, I see the crane on the reserch ship slides the length of the open gap to allow craning the sub into the forward cargo space. Interesting, but over £100 sounds like Lego have lost the plot on this one. -
I always thought this set would look better with dual real tyres, but only a single axle. This is certainly more common to see skip trucks with this combination in the UK. I bought a second set with the plans to modify, and it just never got done. I did not have the parts needed at the time. But I like the scale of these trucks.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

It's ok, but there is something wrong with the scale of the cabin/bridge and the ship, it looks too small? -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
The red car which gets loaded into the back of the Plane in set 60262 looks to have very odd dimensions. Plane, is ok, but as others have said, engines look odd, I can live with the hald passenger, half cargo style plane. I like the big blue boat, but looks slightly unfinished, like they had planned to include a submarine to be craned from the cargo hold of the ship. But Lego ran our of scope on that set, so they just inlucded a diver cage instead........ I like the small polybag with the ray in it. -
8043 Receiver Question
paul_delahaye replied to u118224's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'm 99% sure the model came with 2 v1 receivers. As they are only driving medium motors. However mine is packed away at the moment, so I cannot check. I think only the crawlers came with the v2 receiver as it could not drive 2 XL motors and a servo at the same time. Although this is now more confusing, Bricklink lists the set as coming with v1, but then at the foot of the page lists the v2 as an alternative part for set 8043. For no other technic set does it suggest this as an alternative......I'm now not sure. -
lol, the "Top 10 Lego City Sets" ......as per the title of the you tube video, the only top 10 countdown to feature zero branded "City" sets........ Everyone will have their own opinion on this. Scale of the sets you picked is also challenging in a city environment. This countdown is more like some of the best sets Lego have made......but again everyone will have a different opinion. If we are really talking about sets for a city, I would see some kind of train station (maybe the red one from the 9v era), and maybe the classic 6399 monorail if this was really the top 10 sets to have in a city. Maybe a harbour as well as an airport.

So about time we had some solid news to discuss. I've been checking daily and getting quite bored waiting for something, even a rumour or titbit would have been nice. Anyway, nice that we get actual pictures. Overall I like it, and as soon as it hits the stores at 33% off, it will be a purchase for me. One annoyance, I do wish lego would make a 3 pin connector again in black to replace that blue connector on non blue sets. I appreciate it stands out and makes it easier for younger people to build. But it looks awful when it's so visible. Even in black, it would contrast ok against the red panels. Apart from that it would have been nice to get the new front shocks in gold, but burnt orange will do. They do look a little flimsy in the official pictures? I wonder how the dampening effect will work? springs, oil, air pressure?

Wooh, motor on it's side. Genius!

Loving your train storage shelves, I've been thinking of something similar for a while. Have you added groves into the shelves for the train wheels? is that why some of the shelf is brown and some white? Not a bad collection of Classic trains as well ;-)

Hi Makoy, I'm highly anticipating the follow up review of set 10714 Blue base plate........

Impossible LEGO
paul_delahaye replied to Boxerlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So not Technic, but does fall under the impossible situations. Happened accidently, as the bricks where muddled in a box and general sorting obviously forced them together like this ;-) It's a one way situation.... -
It's an ok set. I like the colour scheme without the stickers. I picked it up with a 3rd off on Amazon last year, but it's still in the "To be built" pile. I'm yet to dive into Powered Up/Control+ It looks like it will have real potential as the protocol and apps are developed.

If only it had real red buffers and 2w black period windows. Love the nod to 12v era. Can't wait to get this.

Usually which Amazon sells Lego the cheapest on average?
paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I totally agree, I really like to support my local independent toy shop when I can, but often in the UK they don't offer the best prices, so for some of the larger sets I have to wait until I can find a deal. It is interesting to see how deals vary so much around the world. -

paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes, the big one 10261 Smyths Toys in the UK is the best price I've seen at £250 vs List price of £300, but can't find it better. On amazon, it's often priced higher than Lego own list price. It's a close balance between purchasing before it is no longer available for sale and getting the best price. -
I really do not know how I've missed your city over the past couple of years. I'm sure the shear amount of work that has gone into this cannot be fully appreciated by all. It really is outstanding. If it was mine, I'd make the airport a bit longer, and I think I'd do away with those oversized city construction vehicles. The pirate ships look a bit big for the scale as well, but thats not the end of the world as those sets are classics! Paul
