Agreed, I'm sitting here waiting for Smyths Toys to offer it in the UK at 1/3 off So far they have offered it at £249 GBP, down from the £299 list for a couple of weeks. But 3rd off is my target price. They usually do this once a year so I'm just holding out and checking their website each week. Ahhh I'm sure the set is worth list price, it looks great and fun to play/watch as well, but I like a deal!

The good news for us is it looks like Steindrucker is shortly to produce the litho printed parts for Palace Cinema! They are not going to be cheap, but it will at last mean my Cinema has something on the screen! https://steindrucker.com/lego-10232-original-cinema-package

When you reassembled the motor, is there any chance you put the axles in the opposite way around? i.e. causing the drive to be reversed? Not even sure if this is possible, but it would cause this to happen.

nice, I did wonder if it was done by the same person, but thought you may have mentioned where the idea came from. Good to see the design has evolved. I personally still love the original automated version, It must have wowed the crowds wondering where the load had gone to?

yes, you are correct, I meant all printed pieces, NO Stickers ;-)

There is something so innocent and amazing about those small sets from the 80's. Built with just a few pieces in many cases. Clearly they would not match the requirements of the toy market today, but they hold a place in many people's hearts and you can see why.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I'll be honest, I clicked into this thread expecting to see a prediction of a Police Helicopter or Fire Helicopter! -
Nice version of this model. Looks very similar to the original concept by Karin Falkenback a few years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptKXH0fWPhQ I like how you've adapted it to work with containers though.

what was the price of 60118 before it retired?
paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
in the UK it was either £14.99 or £17.99 (don't exactly recall) but amazon/argos knocked a 3rd off so purchase around £12 was a good deal. It was a good set, but at 8 or 9 studs wide it was getting a bit crazy in terms of scale against a train -
Yes, take a simple system that just works and make it more complicated. Maintain employement at Lego for the Customer Service, Online/web teams and marketing department. Job done, bonus all round....

Tour video of Klossfestivalen in Sweden
paul_delahaye replied to TeamHansson's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Top job on doing all the commenty in English, that was really apprecited. After attending many of the UK shows, I'd become a little dispondand as I feel they can become a little groundhog day like, same venue, year after year, you see the same exhibitors, often showing the same or similar models year after year. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to be mean as I can only imagine the effort which goes into organising a show, or making a display for a show and I do see some builders who each year really make the effort to change their display for the public. But it's great to see a long detailed video like this from a completely different country, where every model is brand new to me. And some of the builds are seriously massive! Thank you for bringing this to us Paul -
Definately, Parisian Restaurant - first set to include printed pieces ;-)

How to Elevate a LEGO City (Brick-built elevation)
paul_delahaye replied to Zephyr261's topic in LEGO Town
Why not use wood, and then build brick collars around the outside of each wooden pillar. I can't see why you would want to support a 10k piece set on anything that is potentially unstable, or requires so many bricks. The money could be better spend elsewhere surely? i'd often considered this approach when having a cutting or changing heights of modules. -
Review: Creator Expert 10269 Harley-Davidson
paul_delahaye replied to mostlytechnic's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm not seeing the love for this set, maybe I'm not a bike fan, but all I see is grey barrels, and square front forks. The lack of chrome parts is what is really missing. I think this was clearly built to a budget, by a new designer, or a licence fee to Harley stripped the final appearance to shape and not cosmetic looks. but hey. some will like it.- 37 replies

my first thoughts, I had the original feeling that the telescoping boom part from Acros was going to be used to raise and lower the decks on the car transporter. Does not look like it uses any specialist parts. Trailer looks odd, like it's missing a set of wheels, and the ramp solution on the trailer, although playable looks awkward when stored. I'm starting to think this would have been a good cheaper set without the trailer, instead maybe including a second car. But anyway. If this set had been made how I would have liked to see it, the truck would be shorter in length, only 1 rear axle, and the trailer would be longer and tri-axle in design. but it's definately a good set with lots of MOD opportunity

42110 - Land Rover Defender
paul_delahaye replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What everyone is saying on the roof looks like a coffin, don't you think they could be sand ladders, a pair of them stacked on top of each other? Kind of thing an off roader might carry. I like the little folding ladder to access the roof. -
42097 Spider Crane
paul_delahaye replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It's a bit of a shame they could not have found a way to include one of the new longer linear actuators in this set as well. Whilst I appreciate it was not needed, would have been good. -
Forgive my crude modification of this users image. These 3 (probably 4) yellow pin with axle holes to me appear a bit pointless. They don't appear to add any value. There is no way Lego would include pieces unless they had to. I'm kind of wondering if they are a new piece with a double length pin on them? So like this, https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=15100#T=C but overall 3 long similar to this: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=32054#T=C This would then made a little sense as they would be connecting the corners of the model together? Or do others think they serve another purpose?

So on my 42082 crane last year I had a real mess with the bag situation. There were 4 bags all with the same number supposed to be in the set, lets call them 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4d but I had two of bag 4c in the box and 4d completely was missing. No idea whether these were incorrectly kitted by hand, or whether someone filled in the machine which packs the sets with the wrong bag in the wrong hopper, who knows. So I was up some parts but missing a ton to complete the model. I eventually worked out what had happened, but Lego must have been suspicious. I sent them pictures of what had happened. along with my part built set and about a month later I received all the parts to complete the model. The missing bag and the substituted bag would have unlikely set of the alarm bells with the tollerances involved on the weighing scales.

I'm just amazed with Lego's family values and anti violence they even made wooden guns like this, very interesting.

As MAB said, I'd buy the correct parts. But that's a collectors viewpoint. I spent £40 on 2 light grey 80's finger hinges to complete a 7740 train, as I wanted it to be original. I could have used the modern 90's version of the hinge which was less than £2. But I know it's correct. If you don't plan to sell them or have them as true collectors sets, then I guess the cheap option is there for you. Are you a collector or just happy to have the sets. No different than when you buy a second hand set on ebay and it says complete and although it looks like the model deplicted, some parts are megablocks.........

So we are thinking 1 hub in the track area powering left and right track drive and rotation. Then the second hub in the superstructure, powering the 3 bucket movements and also an opening of the bucket?

BrickLink sellers in Krakow?
paul_delahaye replied to Plastic_Owl's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So I cannot tell you much about Lego in Krakow, I went there for work 3 or 4 times last year. Lego related, I did see a couple of shops with Lego signs in the window but they just appeared to be selling current sets. I did stumble across this Lego Robotic Shop/place, walking down one of the back streets one evening, can't tell you if it's any good, as it was closed, but the model in the window was cool (not the one currently on Google Maps! Exhibition of Lego Robots Wystawa Robotów z klocków Lego Mikołajska 13, 31-027 Kraków, Poland 3W6R+HX Kraków, Poland klockoland.eu +48 667 899 317 It's got 4 stars on trip advisor, and unless you are going to Krakow for a Stag party, or to be ripped off by one of the horse draw carts in the main square. The only tourist things appear to be the trip to Auschwitz, The Salt Mine or to Shoot an AK47.....I'd say this Robot Museum/Shop might be worth a try! However, In terms of the best Steak Restaurant in Krakow, I can 1000% recommend Pimiento, An Argentinian Restaurant, by far the best steak in town (I tried many and always went back to this one). Stolarska 13, 31-043 Kraków, Poland 3W5Q+WG Kraków, Poland pimiento.pl +48 12 422 66 72 Open now: 12–11pm There was a really good pizza restaurant in the main square, down in the basement but I don't recall the name! Hope you enjoy your trip, a very pretty city, surrounded by parks! Cheap Taxi's but most of them only like cash. I never used the Trams, but they run around the city and I'm led to believe these are cheap. I came across a good (reliable) taxi driver at the airport, called Tom, let me know if you need his details. You can pre-book and he turns up with a sign. Cost like 70 PLN which locals say is a lot from the airport to the city, but converting to GBP it's like £13 which is good in my opinion. The biggest problem with the Taxi drivers is they are a little unreliable! You call them and they say 10 minutes, and 30 minutes later there is no taxi! I always chuckle coming out of the airport when you pass the lorry mounted missile launcher in the field next to the motorway! always worth looking out for! Paul
