  1. Is this a coincidence that the set number of the rumoured land rover is 42110 and Land Rover used to make a defender 110 model...…...ohhhh
  2. from the first picture, you don't get a true understanding of the sheer scale of this crane. I can't wait to see you build the ship it's loading! The mechanism works smoothly.
  3. Whilst the scale is no doubt impressive, it looks to be mainly made of system bricks with just a few technic parts for the operating doors. it's a shame you did not manage to build an interior for the factory with moving machinery/conveyor belt manufacturing process Do you still have this assembled? Is it work in progress?
  4. Do you not think it's just to stop young kids messing with the sets. And it also makes the set look more classy. It's surely just marketing. A bit like putting a picture of the set on the front of the box rather than just putting a picture of the elements in the box. Very often these larger sets have a display stand like the giant star wars ship which held it on an ankle. I think it's just presentation.
  5. The only inaccurate detail from my one trip to this store is there is not enough people queuing outside the shop In the rain!
  6. It took me a while....Here is me thinking, both parts are the same. Is this a trick question..... I got there in the end. Totally agree it looks like MB rubbish from underneath
  7. I personally like to mix all the bags up in a new big set, as finding the pieces adds to the fun of the build for me. These sets are expensive now so the longer the build, the better for me.
  8. I built this crane as well in the past but I had alignment issues which caused the sliding carriage to keep getting out of align each time it moved back and forth, does your build work smoothly? On another note, I saw a great model several years ago where the builder had a forklift which came out of the warehouse carrying a log I think and loaded it into a train car, it then backed up and picked up a log and repeated the cycle. The log somehow rolled back to the start again, but it was a great design. I can't find the model now through the searches.
  9. So at long last the dilema of my Christmas present All Terrain Crane is over. Lego eventually on Friday delivered the missing bag 11 of bricks which allowed me to complete the crane. However it's left a new plesent surprise, that also explains why the error was not picked up on the assembly line final weight check. It appears I have a load of bricks left over. Checking back over the review, I appear to have had 2 of bag 321S8 packed in my box. A nice gift as I get some spare red dogbones. Clearly on a Friday afternoon an employee in the factory topped up a a crate of bag 11's without actually checking the unique bag code. I am now wondering if I need to check the other 2 I also purchased, just in case they were all kitted in the same batch run. Does anyone know if there is a unique batch code on the outer packaging? I'll check.
  10. I guess the only restriction you might have is if it's an old set and someone applied the stickers. If the particular part called for a particular sticker say a number 2 to be on the left, and now you want to mirror it, it might still be on the left. So you might have to consider trying to remove and reapply the stickers. But if you are back in the age of 6542, I think you should be ok, warm them up on a radiator, and start working the sticker edge with a sharp knife. work slow you maybe able to relocate them. If it's a 2000's era set, your stuffed.
  11. I actually think some of the most challenging sets are the old studded ones from the 80's/90's Sets like Air Claw Rig and Space Shuttle, there were errors in the instructions (from memory), some steps you had to add like 20 bricks on a single step. They did not always clearly show you where the bricks had to go, you had to use some real thought during the assembly process unlike todays sets where you have 20 actual sized images and steps in order to add 20 bricks onto the model!
  12. OK, so my patience might at last be paying off in 2019! Smyths toys in the UK has just listed the 10261 Roller Coaster £299, it's now only a matter of time before they offer 25% - 33% Discount and this set becomes a viable option for me.....
  13. From parisian restaurant onwards, Jamie B said something about the AFOLs did not like stickers, and they agreed that the sets would cost like $10 more but have printed pieces from now on. I seem to recall only the Cinema is the only modular with stickers? but I don't recall. Certainly the last couple of sets have 4 modulars are printed pieces only.
  14. I wish I'd been that lucky. Still no reply from Lego today. Guess they are dealing with a bit of a backlog! I agree, a bag inventory would be good. Or better number the bags so there are not 3 of the same number. I'm just waiting to try and explain which of the 3 bags is missing.
  15. I think there were 3 bag number 11's based on the review. I do have the one with the dog bones, it's the panels and long beams I'm missing. Just seems amazing this can be missing. But I assume these large sets are packed into the boxes by hand. So it must be possible for the workers to forget the odd bag, it must be a mundane task.
  16. I've a bit of a problem, I'm usually missing a brick here or there when building the flagship sets, but usually I just find I've not paid attention and used the wrong part somewhere in the build, resulting in some parts left over and some missing. I can usually work it out. However this year I have a big problem, and I know Lego offer a missing pieces service, but it should not be possible. I'm actually missing an entire bag of parts. One of the 3 bag 11's. It's the one with the lift arms and panels. If I was Lego I'd be thinking, yeah he is just trying it on. but I genuinely am missing them. The set was brand new, I broke the seals. I've been careful, and not lost a bag around the house. I built it at the table. I've dropped Lego an email, so I'll see what they say. But it was my understanding they weigh the sets on the production line to highlight missing bags like this? The next problem is I purchased 3 of these sets on 3 for 2 at Argos in the UK. What are the odds that all 3 sets are missing bricks? I plan on opening 2 of the sets, but I plan to keep the 3rd for a rainy day. Anyone happen to know the precise weight of the sealed box? It was missing from the review. Using this review, I've identified this as the missing bag. What a nightmare! My rather sad looking crane
  17. Well that did not work.......It was pretty hard not to win this year, but roll on next year! Congratulations winners,
  18. Some of these large Technic boxes now are quite thin, and now there is no internal tray, alot of the structure of the box has been lost. I ordered 3 offroad Technic Cranes from Argos in the UK this year in their 3 for 2 offer and all the boxes looked like they had gone 10 rounds with Tyson.
  19. sadly we are now into the 22% chance of winning time of the competition
  20. Fun at the fair should hopefully bring all the little side stalls everyone has been complaining have been missing in the past as well as a few green looking faces I wonder if we will see the medium childs legs used in real sets outside of minifig blind bags?
  21. I wonder if the Car Transporter might bring back the MB license? although I guess there is no real need to pay a license on this type of model. surely another co project with Volvo Construction Equipment? Maybe a monster EC750E - Hopefully they will make a new bucket if this is true. and there must be plans to put to use those new pneumatic switches from 2018 with the axle hole to allow remote motorised control. There is no way they were soley made for that logging machine from this year.
  22. I'll give it a go then, 2 days to go......I've not won yet
  23. They are there, just challenging to navigate, they are under set bundles. Follow the link below https://steindrucker.com/lego-set-buendel
  24. more likely fun in the air (AKA fun with helicopters)
  25. steindrucker.com To clarify I have no affiliation. I find the translation to English on his webshop difficult, it's not Mac compatible, and the basket is a nightmare when converting to english. I usually order via my parents PC. The shipping costs to the UK are also a bit steep, but mainland europe is probably better. but the quality of the printed parts speaks for itself as I've ordered a couple of times now. It would be quite good if you could ship the new parts from your set to Steindrucker and he would then print them and return them, I'm sure half or more of his costs must be buying some new/quite rate parts to print on which then become spares for you. But I can also understand if he allowed people to do this, they would probably send in poor quality used parts which would be a nightmare to print onto. Here are the printed parts on Claas. Here are the printed pieces on the Porsche And here are the pieces awaiting the build of the Bugatti!
