I think the more important part of this story is the history behind these, what over 20+ years since these were discontinued, and I've never seen these discussed before in any topic. These things are rarer than rare. Very cool item, but does bare the question how did you come by these? I sometimes wonder if even Lego still has proptotype parts like these in their archives?

LEGO Ideas Discussion

I'm really disapointed about the aquarium. It was the only one that made sense to me, but there you go. Instead we get a typewriter which would have been apt 40 years ago. I just don't see who will buy it unless it's a good parts pack. Potentially every letter of the alphabet on printed tiles might be the only good thing? -
LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

There is something ironic that Lego annouce they will stop promotion of Police sets for the time being, due to all the current goings on........Three days later....a new police set leaks....... -
I saw the front page picture, and I was like....Please let the wheels of the bike go around and not just the background! Amazing!

From my limited understanding of both systems, you have 3 options I see using power functions: On my Horizon Express, I put 2 motors in one end of the train, and also inside that part of the train was a pole reverser switch for one of the motors so they both work off the same receiver, and go in the same direction. It's tight, but can be done. You can have a motor in each end of the train, with lots of extension cables inbetween, you will also need a pole reverser switch in line for the rear motor, the negative of this option is the need for lots of cables and then making them run through all the carriages You have a Battery Box, Motor and Receiver in each end of the train. The receivers are both set to the same channel. The rear motor will also need a pole reverser switch in line. The risk here is one of the receivers does not pick up the singal at the same time as the other one. So the front motor could be running at speed setting 5 and the rear motor at speed setting 3, which would probably not be great for either motor. Equally as one battery box goes flat, it may cause a small speed difference between motors, so they could in theory be fighting agaist each other? I'd go for option 1 but new components direct from Lego will slowly phase out. With Powered up, in theory you can put a battery box/bluetooth hub receiver at each end of the train, both powering a motor. If I understand correctly, the hubs can be sync'd so they operate together, this would solve the main issues with Power functions option 3, however to date I do not believe there is a pole reverser switch, so a second motor without doing some surgery to one of the motors wiring or drilling a hole in the train base to allow the motor to be mounted the wrong way around will not work as the rear motor won't be going the same way as the front one?

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Yeah, been there, done that. when on holiday, about 10 years after the monorail was discontinued, in a little toy shop in Wales, I saw the Monorail Track expansion pack on the shelf, and I walked out, did not buy it as I did not have the monorail at the time. What a mistake! Anyway, Maybe because we got 2 people packs last year, we should have got one of them this year, but they pulled it forward for some reason, hence why we don't have one this year? I hope it's not lost as a annual set as there is so much more opportunity for these people packs. -
It almost looks like the space in front of the drum, below the water tank is designed for the new horizontal motor to drive the drum? I wonder if there will be instructions for adding a motor? You can almost see the chassis bending in the side picture as well, looks like it's lacking a couple of beams

Amazing to see you working on the site again, it's such a valuable resource to the community! -
Whilst I no doubt agree with everyones feelings about the cab being too high, I think on of the bigger issues are the hand rails although true to the machine being bright orange, are a bit overpowering. Maybe if they were not so chunky in looks, this would help.

Nice job on the review, anyone else have their OCD triggered by the rear tyre not being on the rim evenly when the gearbox was shown? Pleased to see printed parts which is to be expected in such an expensive set. I do agree that it's a shame they can't add some fibre optic lights or something like that on such a premium set.

Is there not supposed to be a new Technic Verticle motor being released this year for the Volvo Rock Truck coming out in the summer? Maybe this motor will be used to drive a verticle axle down to the wheel sets?

The banner came out really well, nice job everyone

I bet this is going to be a real pain for parents to remove from their oak solid wood flooring after a couple of months........

I agree, this is the basic requirement for modeling train accessories. Even if this set was only available via shop at home/lego stores, it would allow kids and adults alike to build their own additional cars. Very similar I'd like to see a box of say 100 of the 1x2 brick (with brick mould), which would help with scenary, wall building, stations, signal boxes, etc. readily available.

I see that now from the first image, however in the second image circulating with the minifigures, the track looks slightly different. I eually cannot believe that the image used on the box art they managed to perfectly align all those 1x1 brown sleeper plates, but I guess the images are digitally made now for the boxes? so probably easy to align them on the computer?
-
I don't think this has been discussed yet, but the sleepers, do you think we are getting a new piece 1x8 with 2 studs, 4 smooth tiles and 2 studs as a new parts, or do you think it's made up of 3 bricks, 2 of 1x2 brown plate and 1 of 1 x 4 tile? At first I thought it was the original track which had ballast placed on top, but now I think we are getting single grey rails and seperate sleepers. What do you think? a new part of made of seperate bricks?
-
Oh wow, was not expecting that eh, almost looks more of a display piece than a train to run around the track. The track looks a bit funny in the image, but maybe it's the angle of the picture.

Cool renders, havnig zero graphic design skills, I've no idea how you do what you did. I did not recognise the first one, but I've not bought/built that set yet. Probably is some of the smaller older sets had been in the line up, rather than mainly flagships, it would likely have been harder. Very cool

Very cool, nice wide doors for getting the bigger trains in and out ;-) and I like the heavy lift gantry crane

Thanks all, I never saw the dash above the first number 5! Still a bit odd, the only thing spooky about set 6007 is it comes with a bat and the name of the set was "Lego Bat Lord" I'm kinda thinking there were other better set numbers they could have referenced here? I guess we will never know exactly what they were thinking. Nice set though
