Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
paul_delahaye replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
So I'm looking at the great vehicles this year and most are good, but I'm looking at the Truck Transporting the Jet plane, and it looks <insert that tiresome argument>. The past ones have always been good, the harvester transporter of previous years, but this one just looks basic. The truck has little shape on the cab, and the trailer can't even steer, it can only go in a straight line? Why put fixed wheels at the front? I'm not sure what they were thinking on this one. -

Trailer for the Claas with these tyres -
I can almost see if this set is as big a success as I expect it will be, we could in future even see a set of 16 collectable minifigures under the Sesame Street relationship. I'm already thinking it's better value to buy the set for the minifigures than try and buy the minifigures seperately. I'm thinking of making a wall display frame.

Very cool, do you think you can share a picture of the mechanics? Did you use brick bilt propellors or an off the shelf solution? -

Looks like it's just tipping lego sand into a fake hole in the background of the box artwork. After set 60271 you cannot go by the box artwork to confirm what you might get in the box.....otherwise we would have got track in the City Main Square set this year. It would be nice to see them add small road sections into the regular sets to expand their new road system. -
Technic 2021 Set Discussion

Agree with the comments about the technic cars, it does feel like we need less sets but of better technical quality I wonder what the 30465 Technic Polybag could be? Maybe the polybag will contain a Powered Up dumb battery box ;-) -
How common are missing pieces?
paul_delahaye replied to Joseph Barker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed with the general opinion, I've probably purchased 1000 sets over the years, 1 set I dropped a piece on the floor and the dog chewed it, I pulled a replacement from my own sets 1 set I bent the 3mm rigid hose on a small technic set, and Lego very kindly replaced the part I had a creater set, where it had 5 x Dark Red 2x8 roof tiles, and 1 of the 5 was a completely different shade of red, I think they changed colour on the moulding machine, and did not run through the old colour properly. I had a set as a child where a piece had a bad moulding, this was many years ago, and Lego not only replaced the part when I wrote to them, but sent me 5 Lego Fireman minifigures as an apology The worst I've had was a Technic Crane 42082, inside the set was 4 number 4 bags, there should have been 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d (but they don't bother labelling them sensibly like this). However they put in the set a 4a, 4b, 4c, and 4c. I was basically missing a whole bag of parts which prevented me completing the boom of the crane, but I had an additional bag of parts which caused quite some confusion as I like to tip all bags of parts out at the begining of the build, it was a bit of a nightmare as Lego did not know which bricks were in the missing bag 4d, so I had to work out all the parts I was missing from a 4000 piece set that was 3/4 built. Not particularly easy, but once I send them pictures, they replaced the parts without question. Most missing parts are in the corner of the bag which I've missed when tipping them out or I've misused a part on a big set when building tired without paying attention, I've used a dark blue gray part instead of black, it used to be quite hard to tell the difference on sets from 10 years ago, before they started outlining the parts in the instructions. -
Here is me thinking someone has built a model of a sub-standard UK Parcel Courier who signs for your parcel and then delivers it several days later.......... nice model by the way

Just signed up to Very the Catalogue shop in the UK, and picked up the new Technic Cement Mixer £89.99 with a £30 credit to account for the first order when using promo code Q4R3U. As long as you add the first purchase to your credit account, once they have shipped, you can pay off the balance straight away. The only negative was £3.99 delivery on first order. But still that's 30+% discount on a new set. Very happy. The coupon code to enter during checkout was Q4R3U Can't say it will last forever, but worked today.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
paul_delahaye replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Someone in the Lego pricing department has clearly based the pricing on the box art alone...... Where is the elevated track we were discussing months ago. oh yeah, just some box artwork....lol I'd actually like to pick up a couple of the trams, but the rest of the set is a no go for me, I just hope they are not too expensive on ebay when people part them out. -
It's quite funny looking back over the topic, to the days when this set was just seen at the Toy Shows earlier in the year. Everyone was slating it, mainly complaining about the scale of the cab, but then boom, lego put a really smart gearbox into the set which no one really knew about and now nearly everyone rates the set as it's so ground breaking. It's almost Lego getting back to the sets of old where they were technical over looks. Not only that, but the set has only been out a week and already Amazon have discounted it by £9. It won't be long and it will have a 3rd off and it will be a great buy. This in comparison to the most desired set of the year, 42113 which has crashed and burned for various reasons.

Just shows how successful lego were at taking Lepin to court only a few months back. Appears lepin really don't care.

ebay, from a seller in Germany the day before Lego announced the set was cancelled.......

You sometimes see crazy auction prices like this and I do wonder whether the buyer completes the transaction. I can't see how anyone can seriously pay that sort of amount of hard earned money (unless it was not hard earned). Especially when cheaper ones are available. Earlier in the week they were listed at 130 euro buy it now. now look at it. I still think in a few weeks time after the official launch date we may see that more are available and hopefully the price comes down to a more sensible £200 level

How much does mixed bundle of Lego set will you pay for
paul_delahaye replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Around 10 - 15 years ago it used to be considered £10 gbp per kilo in the UK when buying new bricks in bulk was a good deal. in some places like Legoland those price per kgs started rising rapidly to nearer £45 per kg. Obviously they caught on that buying bulk Lego Was like buying loose sweets at the cinema. for used bricks, I guess it depends on the sets which might be in the mixed lot. If I was a seller i would think $20 a kg was about right, especially if I remembered what I’d originally paid for the sets. i’d take a look and make the seller an offer if you are interested. Paul -
I'm unfortunately not one of those people, and I'm still on the lookout. It requires a shop that has no clue what they have, and I'm hoping they just put them out on the shelf next week. But there definately seems a lot on ebay in the UK. I'm wondering if some shop owners are taking the opportunity to make some revenue back that they lost during COVID lockdown by selling them on eBay. I guess that letter from Lego telling them they won't get any more has probably made them realise their worth.

So I just popped into my local toyshop this morning after hearing the news that Lego will let them sell the stock they have received. Turns out they had 3 delivered and they were were all sold on Thursday (Pre Order) as they can't sell them until the 1st. I just know at least 2 of them will be on ebay at an nice profit for someone. It did make me think about how many might be in the UK market? assuming that single toy shop were able to buy 3 units. there could be up to 1500 in the country, assuming some argos stores get stock, maybe these will be availble on the ebay market for around £200 in a few weeks time if there are more available than we realise? Obvioulsy at the moment due to the limited availability, people are paying upwards of £500 for the set. But hopefully it will come down.

These peace protesters have just made this the most desirable set for Lego Technic collectors in the world. More rare than a limited release crawler set....... What a shame
-
I would expect most of these are already in the retailers hands by now. Getting them back, will be a challenge. It will also make them quite desirable on the aftermarket I would think. I contemplated buying one this morning on ebay from a German retailer, but they appear to have all by disappeared from ebay today. Whether they have been removed or sold remains to be seen. Would make a nice rare collectors model if they do simply rebox/rebrand.

I think it would be a lovely end to the story if Lego were to buy these back from you and put them on display in the Lego house for all to see with other prototype parts ;-) So much "non work" happens in factories during overtime....... Thank you for the interesting back story, Paul
