  1. Must depend on the country. The ones I've used in the UK you can always drive when fully extended. I've never seen one with a dead mans foot pedel either, only a hand joystick. The speed just reduces the higher you go. I agree, they are always wobble at full extent.
  2. I love this set, the only changes I would have made as the designer would have been the tree, I mean what were they thinking. These extra pieces should have instead been used to make the garage a little longer. It's funny that in most sets, they end up taking a few bricks out to make the set meet a price point, but in this one they had some spare and put in that tree! I also think the ladder looks wrong on the fire truck with that hinge arrangement. I would have preffered to see a removable wheeled style of ladder like this:
  3. agreed, I've picked up the 16 x 16 plates at a Lego store in the past, they were selling them at like 50p each behind the sales counter, near pick a brick, but this was a couple of years ago now.
  4. In fairness, a Eurobricks user kindly PM'd good quality early pictures to anyone who asked on Christmas day last year. so hopefully a bit earlier thant Nuremberg TF 2019. It was a nice present!
  5. Have any markets seen the sale of the 10261 Roller Coaster outside of Lego Shop at Home? I've been checking the local retailers in the UK like Smyths Toys, etc. who have in the past carried the Creator Fairground sets, but no sign of them selling the big beast. Do you think it's just too expensive and their buyers are scared to take it on? Or more likely they have some exclusivity deal with a retailer? Failing this, anyone know if Shop at home is planning a Triple VIP points offering at some point soon?
  6. Nah, I don't think so. I would not collect them and display them alongside the figures. But each to their own.
  7. Added bonus, 2% cashback through TopCash Back with john Lewis!
  8. As a train, it's not my cup of tea, as I'm not familiar with the design, but wow, I can really see the skill and level of detail that has gone into the build. Such a top job!
  9. George, I'm sending you many messages, but there is no response. I'm definitely interested.
  10. lol, great question. Who knows. Even the robot tutle at schools had names, might have been something given to the product by the company that sold the educational sets in the UK. I think the company was called GALT or something like that. My mother was a teacher and I recall looking through their catalogue at the lego many years ago.
  11. Thanks Cardboy, just ordered. I've been waiting for a decent saving and this will do. I've been surprised at how limited the availability has been on this Bugatti. the Porsche was much more widely available when launched in the UK which helped with the discounts. Just hoping John Lewis packaging keeps the box in better condition than Argos deliveries!
  12. mmm, yes the tree is rubbish fountain is nice, fire station looks ok. Fire engine, I would have liked to see a more vintage design where the ladder on the back was removable, with 2 cart wheels attached to it. but anyway. Should fit nicely into the village. I wonder if the lightbrick is inside the tree to light the star, or more likely used as a fireplaced within the firestation?
  13. but would you not have to dismantle the whole model to replace But then you would have to dismantle the whole model to replace these frictionless pins with normal pins? when I'm MOC'ing, I would not remember where all the parts went the second time around!
  14. So I've just finished building this set. I picked it up from Argos in the UK this weekend with a 3rd off the price, which is always good. Yes it's a great parts pack. but I'm a little dissappointed. I found the build a little uninspiring, I'm not sure if this is because it does not represent a real live vehicle, or that the mechanicals are quite straight forward? I personally would have liked to see a few of the functions linked, like the counter balance weight, I feel could have gone down as the bucket raised up rather than having to control them all seperarely. As others have said, no gearboxes, no working engine (fake electric propulsion but still could have had drive to the axles). No suspension. And I don't really see the benifit of the model bending in half which increased ground clearance, it does it but I don't see why it needs to? Yes cool to have something different? but I think there would have been another model in the volvo range they could have made. I actually think I like some of the other prototypes on the back pages of the instrutions more.
  15. As some have hinted, it's not always the obvious sets which you would think are hard to find, are actually the hard to find sets. For me one of the greatest challenges to find was set 880001-1. that stopwatch was almost impossible to get! but I eventually found a seller. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=880001-1&viewItemType=G For my collection now, I'd like to aquire some of those impossible to find technic figures, the one from the injection mould trade show would be a good start if anyone knows where to find one of these?
  16. I still would love to see a zoo sub theme, I think there is so much opportunity to make 10 sets of varying sizes under this sub theme, might fill in some missing animal mounds as well. I know we have talked about it, but we really need Lego to take a risk and go all out on a new theme like this. Id also like to see the return of Farm, again 6 sets or so however, I think all we can definitely speculate is we will get a helicopter, I reallly need one of them. We will also likely get a hot dog selling vendor of some kind.
  17. Ironically this is one of those sets that would have really benefitted from being a licensed set (at least from a colour point of view). also a bit diappointing there is no way to motorise the blade. I would have rather seen this model as a Tigercat tracked fellow buncher instead, And the B model, I question if they should have bothered.
  18. Disagree, B model to me is just lazy on the part of Lego designers. It's A model chassis and upper body with a modified boom. It just looks like they ran out of time and stuck that together and said, that will do.
  19. Certain sound effects seen in the app are what I would closely associate with a USA railroad rather than a European one. Horn and level crossing at least. i don't suppose the sound effects change depending upon the language selected in the app? I note you selected USA as your language for the video. Just wondering if they were clever enough to change the sounds based on language/region of the world. Paul
  20. So, I like: The train, The selection of carriages The forklift The continuation of the branding of the cargo train so it fits with other cargo sets The continuation of the logging theme, logging truck, logging tractor, etc So I don't like Only a left hand point, as a child that would annoy me than I cannot make a bypass loop I'm not sure we needed a crook and money truck, but hey, I can live with this.
  21. It's a great set which I'll try and own at some point, but I'll live in hope they offer this set via Smyths toys and I'll await a 20 - 25% discount which will hopefully come at some point.
  22. Magnetic couplings, least of our worries, looks like they have done away with the train track as well! Should keep the costs down.
  23. Smyths Toys free Lego sets, Today only! strictly 1 per customer..... http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/pdlh/2018/img_2326.jpg
  24. mmmm, mixed feelings here. On the box art, it looks amazing, but then when you see the small collection of mini builds arranged close together, it's a little less impressive. I like the bus and ice cream car, nice touch with the electric car charging point. The hotel is ok, the museum appear to have like 1 exhibit, I'm thinking it's a bit of a rubbish museum. I just wish Lego would see the benefit of including road plates again. How good would this set have been with a bit more street furniture, and the builds layed out around a couple of road plates. I count 13 minifigs, must be getting to the maximum we have seen included in a city set? Also hot dogs appear to be the new junk food item of choice for our little minifigs
  25. One thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing what AFOL's can achieve with this kit at some of the shows and exhibitions when they combine multiple sets or use the rumoured track expansion pack. We have seen what has been achieved without the specialised parts which is quite a feet, now it's only a matter of time to see some monster roller coaster being constructed and displayed.
