Here we have a fine trading vessel (Class 2 Cutter) which swears fealty to Oleon and is a member of the Oleon nationalized trading company. Captained and crewed by a trading outfit from New Oleon, the Singsong specializes in speedy transport of everything from fine Oleander wine (Best on the Brick Seas) and pepper, to purple and blue murex dye from the coast of New Oleon. The crew recently had a falling out with the Carno trading company "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Dye" and have been working exclusively for Oleon. However, they do have their own symbol, comprised of a lavender circle with white wings, which they've embellished certain barrels with. Kel-Kun: The ship's craftman. Can do anything from carpentry to rope-making. A jack of all trades, but master of none. Also a fantastic swimmer. Raised on the coast between Pan and New Oleon diving for pearls for the Order of the Faith. Monsieur Personne: A Member of the Oleon-wide nationalized trading company. Mostly land based, he helps the crew load and unload their stock in the busy port of Breshaun. Un-Ome: The Ship's cook an midshipman. Well-learned and faithful to the gods. He's also a skilled navigator, when needed. First mate Gars: A clever trader and honourable gentleman. Well-networked, and always knows the right thing to say. Not to mention, he is a true wine-connoisseur. Captain Mec: The captain is a fun-loving adventurous soul. He's well-meaning but can occasionally be too relaxed with orders... and the law... He was (probably) a member of the Oleon Navy at some point, but serving the law didn't suit him well. Nonetheless he is a savvy soul, and we'll liked by all for his natural charisma. He's also a talented musician. Monsieur Gen: A Member of the Oleon-wide nationalized trading company. Mostly land based he helps the crew load and unload their stock in the busy port of Breshaun. ____________________________________________________ I'd love to hear your critiques and criticisms. I'm really no expert on sails and rigging, and found that to be a lot harder than everything else. I know for a fact I messed up the front sails. Also I wish I knew how best to photograph this thing. Hull is inspired by the Organic ship hull technique. I originally thought I was basing it off of something specific, but couldn't find it when I tried to. Not entirely satisfied withthe hull shaping. It's something I'll work on in future builds. Any comments and critiques are more than welcome! this is my first age of sail boat. It was a learning experience, but I want to learn more. Any wisdom from the more salty of seadogs would be super appreciated ~Insectoid Aristocrat

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Dannylonglegs replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
We would love to have you! I too am a big fan of Game of Thrones. As I've just rejoined myself, I understand that the whole game can be a bit confusing at first glance. It's really not too hard. So, basically the game is a "Role-Building Game" (like Role-playing, but with Lego building in addition! Much more fun!) The first step is the join the faction by building a character and posting your character here, as well as your character's name, and some background info. Then you get to build stuff! If you want to participate in the Economic Gaming System, there's a few rules you should know. It just so happens that I've been explaining the game to another member, so here's what I told him about the Economic Game System EGS (economic gaming system)... Let's see how simple I can make it. The EGS is the economic gaming mechanic for getting money. it works on a monthly basis. First step: You build a MoC. This MoC is either a ship or a land based build. These MoCs, if you choose, can earn you in-game money in addition to the money you get for posting them. the money you get for posting them is as follows: When you post your character, you get 25 DB (Doubloons). The first two Freebuilds (MoCs) you build each month get you 10 DB, the next 2 get you 5 DB and any builds after, that month, will get you 2 DB. Second step: In order to get the additional money from the builds, you have to license the mocs. There are links to forms (we use googleforms) that will allow you to fill in information about the moc and by doing so, you enter the moc into the EGS. Licensing (except for your first freebuild, and your first Ship (class 1-2)) costs in-game money. First property and first ship both get a free license You make money in different ways from land mocs and ships mocs. Land mocs produce a steady set number of money for you monthly. Earnings are lower than possible with a ship, but a lot less risky.Ships will earn you money by going on trading missions (or by predatory action or fishing. You can pick month to month what you'd like your ship to do.) To go on a trading mission you decide your start and endpoint on a monthly basis (Oleon has a convoy system going, so start with a cutter or a cog) and you get money proportional to how big the settlement you visit is. Settlements get bigger and more valuable as more mocs are built set in the area. The ships rules can be viewed here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=118542 here is where you'll find a chart showing you size and class types of ships you can build, and their benefits and shortcomings. For land builds there are quite a few options. You build for one of the types in the charts here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=118540 and depending on the size of the build, once you license it, it nets you money accordingly on a monthly basis. Oleon gets 20% off on the cost of license, and gets 20% more money from art and culture builds. These include statues, theaters, churches/temples, and could probably include things like Ballrooms, or bath houses if you wanted! When you build a land bases Free build, you license it, list it in the freebuild recording thread, and in the appropriate settlement. More builds in a settlement means more money earned by traders going there. You can totally start your own colony. Rules for "Squatter Settlements" can be found here http://www.eurobrick...0 ~Insectoid Aristocrat -

"Oh no you don't. He was fired for a reason. Don't go getting any bright ideas." Great work here! The facility is supurb! you really have a knack for making believably lived-in and functional appearing sci-fi interiors! I love it! Also the dust demons are jsut super cool here. This is a great callback, and really serves to emphasize how evil SPIDER is. Great work here, in build, and story progression! All the callbacks! I love it! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Wow. Very nice work this week. I could have sworn I commented on this earlier, but i suppose I didn't. I love how your plot is going! Very ominous! The build is great, and the little details on the machinery and bizarre lab equiptment are quite nice. Wonderful job! Can't wait to see how this story progresses! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Nice smooth integration of the pond and the landscape. Fun build idea! As with Greeble, your idea to use your mech in your build is well done! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Cool story! Great work. The build is nice, and teh scene is interesting. Nice idea to show off your mech's construction. And the tone is very ominous. Lovely work! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

As others have mentioned, you did a great job of intertwining your story with Bob's builds! Great work on the speeder! It looks like it follows a similar design plan to Bobs' builds! Great work! And the alien is quite amusing! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

The plot thickens. You've done a great job collaborating on all these tangents to produce a quite cohesive feel for this story arch. Can't wait to see how it all pays off, and what will become of the mantis stuck in the spider's web! when two apex predators of the small world meet, who comes out on top? Octan. We are the boot that crushes both. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

AAaaah! Another hilarious and quite disgusting Pombe build! Great job Pombe! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

I assure you, those Octan blokes weren't really scared. They just wanted an early break. Lazy bums. They should all be fired. Great work, MK! As always, your style is smooth and classy. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Love the shaping! Nice greeble on the back. Also, never mentioned before, but I love Hadvice Fourfree's name! ~Insectoid Aristocrat -
Bah! Lil' longlegs will do to your mech what Dr. Long herself does to spiders when she finds them. "What is this?" "a spider?" "No. This is a foreign contaminant in a sterile workzone. I will need to speak to the protocol officer in charge of this zone. This breach of quarantine will need to be thoroughly investigated to ensure that no other breaches have been made. In the meantime, pass me that bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol." ~Dr. Long

The EB staff is all knowing, and all powerful. All hail the EB staff. On the subject though, 2 hulls with a selfmade bow and stern would be very interesting to see. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Just wait till you see my entry for the GARC race and we'll see who's got the better spider themed entry to a contest. ~Insectoid Aristocrat.

And even if you win the quarter finals... Lil' Longlegs will be there at the threshold. Unless she suffers an incredibly embarrassing defeat in the first round... no offense Sal. ~Insectoid Aristocrat

That doesn't sound very ethical... Unless of course the Mods adjudicate that it is ethical. Morality is subjective, after-all. ~Dr. Long

Damn. She is a bute for sure! I love it! The hull is superb! And the rigging. The deck. Wow. This is a masterpiece. Great work! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

That rigging is spectacular! Love your sails and the ship itself, of course, is great! Wonderful work here! Looks like the blazer will be speeding across the seas, blazing a bloody red path through the pirates of the brick seas! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Nice prison fort! I like the textures of the wall. Looks like our bluecoats have got the prisoners well jailed! The exterior is nice too. Very pretty landscaping. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
