  1. On Farmolis's Famous Octan Olympic Arena, where all the best and brightest athletes have come to train! Including none other than Dr. Danielle Long, who was surprised to wake up to a holo-mail from CEO Pombe, requesting her presence at the games... on penalty of forfeiture of shares... Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Engineer: "Well, madam, as you can see, the core and engine are fully functional. She's operating at 95% Target output." Dr. Long: "Hmm... That's unacceptable. Tighten that nozzle, adjust the location of that fuel pump, and reconfigure the wiring. Bring it up to 100% Target Output, or I will find someone who can." Engineer: "If only... Triple H were here..." Dr. Long: "He is not here. Do what must be done." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Dr. Long: "Why are these not assembled? Engineer: "Well, you see, there's a real funny story about that..." Dr. Long: "I did not come here to listen to funny stories. I came here to assess your craftsmanship, and right now, I'd say it's certainly lacking." Engineer: "I'm waiting on Pneumatics to supply me with the gas repressurizer! I can't do final assembly until they get me that pressurizer!" Dr. Long: "Stop looking for excuses. I'll deal with Pneumatics... And as for you... pack your things. I'll add finding a suitable replacement to my agenda. That shouldn't be too hard, I don't think." Engineer: "No, please! I've got a wife and three kids!" Dr. Long: "No you don't. In your file it says you're "Single and ready to mingle." Engineer: "Well, I want a wife and three kids eventually..." Dr. Long: "Get out." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Dr. Long: "And what seems to be the holdup here!" Software Specialist: "I'm giving her all she's got, Doctor, but I can't access tha damn file to download!" Dr. Long: "Honestly, the incompetence I have to put up with on a daily basis. Clappy, access file Zoology_AI_Bullfrog.exe. This is Doctor Long, code blue entry, pass 98765. "You got it, boss!" Dr. Long: "Finally, someone who follows my orders." Later...... Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr "Finally, I have my competition entry assembled. When I designed these schematics, I modeled her after the robots I use to collect samples underwater... and then I gave her legs because that was an entry requirement. Honestly I just want to get this over with so that I can continue doing science, but perhaps I can bring glory to the great Octan Corporation by performing above average in this contest. After all, I am a perfectionist. No one will stand my way when I set my mind to something. Now, Let's get this baby started. Lil' Longlegs, please initiate Start Sequence." Octan Olympics! by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr "Perfect." About the Mech: In professional Mech Wrestling contests, Mechs of this nature (long legs, hunched torso) are frowned upon, but not outruled. Typically they are seen used by "Heel" Performers, as their use is considered... underhanded. The long legs are seen as an unfair advantage, since they add to the balance and leverage of the robot when wrestling... but as they say, the higher they stand, the harder they fall... Dr. Long knows none of this, though, as she only read the exact rules, and has never actually watched or participated in a mech contest. She didn't think to overview any of the ... unspoken rules... after all. Rules are made to be spoken. That said, Dr. Long wouldn't particularly care if she found out. If it's in the rules, it's legal, and if it gives her an advantage, well... too bad. 2. Bob, Mantis should dominate Forring at this point, if I'm reading the map right. They have 265 dp we have 235. They have 30 more than we. Did someone forget to click the button? Edit: also, Congrats, Mantis, on a precision domination. Very efficient. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  3. Oh wait that makes a lot of sense! That's great! I love little touches like that. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  4. Autocorrect... Meant to say Greebling. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  5. Not to mention that #notallZoid are slavers. Thanks! Fine build yourself! The Snot is a great technique and makes the build feel a lot cleaner than otherwise. It's simple but serves it's purpose, well done.
  6. Uhoh, I think I see where this hairbush thing is going... there may be... trouble... Great work on the story and builds! Nice Micro Octan ship! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  7. Awesome story! The action scene in the beginning is awesome, and the station infiltration is great! Confused by the guy falling in the pool, but it's funny! I'm sure Dr. Ling thought it was just some volcanic rocks falling on top the tram. Sorry I didn't catch the Onix fleet thing sooner. Great job! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. Really cool spaceship! Mace indeed! Love the radial symetry all over. And the cockpit design is quite cool! Great work! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  9. Awesome work! She lives! Cool story developments, and some really cool figurework! The bossk torso works perfectly here! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  10. I guess their plan was to mutiny inside the base?! Awesome scene! Cool story developments, and your base is really nicely detailed. Great work! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  11. Pretty sweet build! It's a little bare looking in certain places, but the shape and size are awesome! I like the idea of the dual cockpits, and the engine is pretty sweet! Great work. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  12. Very nice micro ship. Feels startrecky. The leftmost radar is my favorite. Nice technique there. The green lung beneath the platform is on point. Great little build. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  13. I, Dr. Danielle Long, would like to transfer 60 credits to the "Foundation for Peace in Onix," as overseen by CFO Bob. ~Dr. Long
  14. Lovely lovely Naboo scene! Fits their aesthetic to the tee. The story is also wonderful! Very creepy! Also, I don't want to bump your old topic, but the previous installment's wall design for the imperial lights was just wonderful! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  15. This ship is absolutely fantastic, Goatman! Love how it resembles the Twilight and an AT-ST all at once. very Star Wars. Also, the scene portrayed is quite nice. Gotta love that Imperial corruption! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  16. That's what I found to be the case as well. Looking at the WIP you've got on Flickr, I'd say ours ended up approximately comparable in size. 'cept mine doesn't have a cute tail. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  17. "Wait! There's a difference?" "Of course there is. Do you mean to tell me you cannot tell them apart by physical appearance alone? They're not even from the same planet, or sector even!" "I... I need to send a quick memo to our Zoid Studies division." "We don't have a Zoid studies division." "When you were gone we had to set one up to deal with the kinda war that was going on.... And I maybe kinda confused the two species." "And here I was thinking you'd half-competently run things while I was gone. I see now that my initial fears that you would besmirch our good name were correct. I'l handle this. Go back to looking good in those suits I bought you, and holding my calls." "... Yes, doctor." ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  18. Ooh. Called it out Leone Jr. Do I get a prize? Also... damn. Great story and twists! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  19. Wow. I build my entire entry for the first one and only JUST NOW read the "Unmanned" part. Ah well. Now I have a cool mech on reserve for a later week. That also explains the 20-20 size limit. That was a real pain to meet with Dr. Long on board! Question: any rules for Alien entries, or is this just the corps? ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  20. Bring out the Drones by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Better pictures have been added! Nimbus Eagle class dropship by Danny-Longlegs, on Flickr Thanks! Thanks for noticing! I love making sure that my vehicles feel realistic and would work in the real (sci-fi) world. So, Thrusters on all angles to allow for space travel, and to slow descent and such. Also, guns... because it's a military dropship. Yes. And bulky too. I was inspired by, in addition to stereotypical cloud shapes, the MTT. Say what you will about the prequels and Ep. 1 in particular, but the Trade Federation's aesthetic is pretty legit. Thanks! Glad you like it! But no, I couldn't be a pilot. I can't do something like this every week! Thanks! I did design it to be viewed from below, to create that visual I finally achieved with the photoshop. And I threw the yellow in because Yellow (in controlled amounts) makes sci-fi vehicles look good! I appreciate the critique! I actually originally envisioned the cockpit as coming up further. but the smooth but bulky lead-up to the body happened and the cockpit sank into the muzzle. I do like bulky shapes like this, though, and it was intended to be that large, but the lead-up to it could have been better, I admit. And thanks! I do think it's probably one of my best. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  21. That was me earlier in the summer. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  22. The "your neighborhood" one. Challenge 2 was Alien Invasion. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  23. Lies!! (don't worry... I know how these things are better than most. Don't even look at my builds from last november.) Nice build! The scene tells the story for itself. Can't wait to find out how this spider-themed story turns out! ~Insectoid Aristocrat
