Well, I checked, and it was definitely under $300. As I stated, we did replace a few parts with newer ones, like the roof slopes and the skis above the door, and we replaced the door with a different one. Ah yes, we did that too. We're purists, my wife and I, but not to that extend. Mind you, in total we did pay an extra 50 to 100 Euros or so. But that's because we built in an interior!

We built it from scratch through Bricklink, and paid between 200 and 250 Euros (roughly $220 to $280).Mind you, we only buy new parts, and only from Dutch sellers (to cut down on shipping cost). Cafe corner was around the same amount, so was Market street. PS For Market street, a few parts (like the door mentioned above) was substituted for a more commonly available one. Also, a few parts were substituted by newer versions (which basically look the same).

Aw, that is stunning. Considering the relatively "limited" base plate size, the details are absolutely unsurpassed. Love the "see-through" walls. to show all the interiors. Keep clicking those bricks together!

Great review, Redhead1982, cheers for putting in the time and effort. I am not a huge fan of this set; it has some nice parts, but the whole design does not look really inspired. I rated it average. Thanks again, and keep clicking those bricks together!

[MOC] – Freebuild – BlueWater Castle
Withacee replied to cesbrick's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well, we are definitely being spoiled in the Guilds category at the moment. This is an epic build. Keep clicking those bricks together! -
Love it; the colour combinations are great, as is the 70s atmosphere.

Love the design of these buildings. And adjustable to basically any colour one wants. Especially the ground floor facade and the little garden patches are great. Also very satisfying for a person with a certain "symmetry-obsession" I bet you were annoyed by the fact that the door knobs weren't available in all required colours, though... I stand astounded. More detailed? I don't see how. My favourite parts are, well the complete castle structure and the foliage. I'm no big fan of the water being represented bij transparent round plates in general, although I know the technique is used more often. The combination of transparent, blue and light blue gives the water an overall colour that seems a bit unnatural. Maybe a flatter surface with plates/tiles would work even better. But I'm nitpicking. My hat is respectfully off to the both of you!

As far as corner buildings go, I like Grand Emporium best, but I have no idea about availability, at the moment.

Great design! I love the interior and the overall shape and dimensions of the house. A few more windows would have made it perfect, in my humble opinion. Keep clicking those bricks together!

Hey davidmull, welcome to the weird and wonderful world of modulars! What the best modulars are is of course a matter of taste. There are a few topics here about favourite modulars, and the results are diverse, to say the least. Problem is that the older ones are difficult to come by, and very expensive. Parisian restaurant might be a good start; it's the second newest modular, so it's readily available at a normal price, and most people are very enthiousiastic. Other popular ones are Pet shop (about to be discontinued in some countries, as I understand) and Green Grocer (one of the first, and dead expensive). Those are my favourites, anyway. Another option (maybe for the future?) might be to buy instructions online of a modular you like (there are some good sources), and order the bricks from bricklink. Or design your own! Good luck on your quest, and keep clicking those bricks together!

Art deco sounds nice. It would be interesting to see how they'll make it fit with the rest of the modulars. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

We waited a long time for a pharmacy. Did not happen so far. We ended up reverse engineering and modifying (we added 8 studs to make it 32 wide, with an outside stair case that leads to the first floor, and a bicycle shed underneath the stairs) this one: A great MOC, with wonderful details inside and out. We tried to contact the creators (all credit to them), but to no avail. http://www.brickpira...php?f=34&t=8245 Well, I guess it'll have to be a bank, then... Or a police station... -
Whenever I see a nice building facade, I instantly start translating it to lego bricks in my head. Favourite phrase whenever my wife or myself sees a nicely designed building: "That would make a great modular!". Resistance is futile, my friends. We will be assimilated. And in our house, there is such a thing as "Lego weather" (gray/rainy).

Okay, you had me on the name alone , but that is a great design alltogether. Very creative and original. Keep clicking those bricks together!

Great start on that 32 MOC, Lankygit! Thanks for the picture.

It looks really good! The roof is great, with the air intake and the Octan coloured drum. The crane looks "in working condition" as well. Nice. First thing I thought when I saw the pics is "Great! Pity it is not orange."; and then I read your text. I guess GMTA. Keep clicking those bricks together!

Great idea! It's so logical, that one does not even think of it. I'm always on the look-out for alley ways, and so on, to break the "skyline" of the buildings. This would absolutely fit in perfectly in any modular street. Would love to see your 32x32 modular. Keep clicking those bricks together!

Absolutely lovely. You did not fall into the trap of going overboard on the colours. The curved display window, the inside counter and the outside counter look great! Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Keep clicking those bricks together!
-
The design of the building is truely original, I love it. The counter with the coffee machines and cookie displays is nothing short of perfect. Small construction issue perhaps: The transparent curved wall looks great, but It seems a bit unstable and not rigid enough. This could probably be easily solved with some alternated hinge plates in white or green. Great job. Keep clicking those bricks together! Quite eloquently put, kind sir! And I could not agree more.

The Tan Townhouse, made by Kristel, can be found here, in case you haven't seen it yet: https://www.flickr.c...57630799159970/ I'll put up some pics of mine (the white one) as soon as I receive the last bits and bobs from Bricklink. Well, there are definitely a few camps here. Personally, I don't care too much about the sizes, I just notice the last two were a bit smaller. For me, it just adds to the variety. I agree that in case of the DA it could be explained as realism, but we shall see what TLG do over the next few years. As I stated before, they'll have to be very, very crappy for me NOT to buy them.

"Designed in LDD between December 16th and December 31st, 2014" Gordon Bennett! What are you, Superman? A brilliant design. I especially love the ground floor facade. The yellow works a lot better than I would have thought. Keep clicking those bricks together!
