  1. Thank you both Haha, yeah I was wondering how many other people would have the same idea!! And of course it's more than ok, I'll be very interested to see your take on it!
  2. Hello everyone, This is my entry in the Expand the Winter Village contest. This is also the first real contest I have entered on EB or anywhere in the LEGO world. I am not generally a Winter Village collector (being from Australia our Christmas is in Summer!) but I have been inspired by many of the great entries so far and decided to give it a crack So I did some research into Winter Village Markets to get more inspiration and came across the German tradition of the Christmas Pyramid. Having never been to Germany around this time of year, I am going solely on photos I have seen online in my research, so please forgive any errors in my portrayal of what looks to be a fantastic tradition for young and old to enjoy! Without further a due!! What Winter Village Market is complete without its Christmas Pyramid!? ^Onlookers are wowed by its romance and beauty! ^ Young and old gather in the Winter Market to watch the figurines spin around the pyramid! ^ The holiday season and the Christmas Pyramid alike reignites the romance in everyone's lives! ^ The graceful red fans spin around from the heat of the candles in the cold air. ^ And just to make sure, it all fits on 16 x 16 studs (with no more than a stud width outside, as per the rules ), including the PF kit. Speaking of which, I have uploaded a short which I would love for you to watch and see the Christmas Pyramid in action!!There are also some more shots on my flickr photostream. I had a great time researching, designing and building this. Thanks for looking, good luck to all and Merry Christmas to all
  3. Ok, now worries. Thanks for the quick response
  4. Hi, sorry, I have a quick question about posting. Is it possible to post a video as one of the 5 pictures or is it preferred that this is in the linked folder on say flickr, for example...? Thanks
  5. These are looking great, very Christmassy
  6. Hello all, I wanted share my latest MOD, I'm not 100% on which forum this fits into, so if it should be in the Action Themes forum please move it across. I really liked the look of the Haunted House set and wanted to add it to my modular town, but wanted to keep the 'haunted' feel to it... So i decided to modify it as close to the original as possible AND using as few extra bricks as possible. So here is the result, as usual there are more shots on my flickr photostream. ^ Here is the front on view, as I said, I tried to keep to the original as much as possible. (The ghosts are the most adorable minifigs, I love them ) ^ This is the back, I don't normally do much in the back but had the pieces. The chimney, back door and brick bricks work well here I think, and in an aim to keep the brick count down I needed to buy, I used the corner slope bricks as normal slopes to 'decay' the house further, so it looks like the tiles are cracked and broken (at least that's how I justify it ) ^Some compromises had to be made in using the original bricks, here you can see this side wall is made up of many of the shelves from the top story of the original building. However, I wanted to use the hinge bricks and keep it like original set with an opening, on the side not in the middle in this case. All the fantastic interior details have found a home in the building. ^Market Street was all I had handy to show a street view, but I'm not sure the locals are too happy with their new neighbours...... Hope you like it and comments and critiques are most welcome!
  7. Really nice modular, it looks like it's meant to look, if that makes sense.... I love the letters on the ground floor, it suits the building really well. And the helipad is great touch too. I also really like the interior you have done so far, very detailed without being too crowded. Your minifigs will now be safe!! Happy building
  8. Very good original entry! The carts are cute and I'm sure the kids will have fun driving around in the snow Good luck for the contest
  9. This is an impressive building, I like the façade on the corner and the pub section is very cute! I look forward to seeing it in your layout!! Happy building
  10. Very cool looking station, I like all the little details you have included, especially the payphone on the side. And the colour scheme works really well too!! I look forward to seeing it brick built, happy building
  11. Bahahahaha hilarious entry! Poor man has a lot of digging to do!! The roof is really good with the tiles but my favourite detail is the magpie, very cute Good luck and happy building
  12. Fantastic MOC there, the courtyard is really well detailed as is the façade of the buildings. I love all the different colours throughout the buildings! Great work and happy building
  13. Wow, you have a great space and the table/s look really good, much better than my bodged together shelves I made for my layout Greta work and I look forward to seeing some shots of your completed layout, happy building
  14. ANother great build from your brother, I really enjoy his Historic themed MOCs but being a city fan, I'm glad to see him venturing into the city I love the details in this truck, especially the bits and pieces in the back but great overall design! Great truck and happy building to you both
  15. Great idea, I'm sure this will get us all into the Christmas spirit
  16. Thanks for a great review nice and early!! I am a bit disappointed that Mrs Stratchinpost is so limited in the boxes, I really want her, mainly because her cat is almost identical to my real cat But the Panda suit guy and Larry are a must for me and president business would be good mainly for the Octan mug Thanks again and I look forward to 1st January 2014 (or whenever they make their way to Aus)
  17. Yeah that scorpion is awesome, I had to double take at it cos I thought it was a real one at first but that turtle is adorable, very simple but effective! Great work and happy building to you and your 11 yo
  18. Holy wow, what a great prize pool!! Thanks Eurobricks and CopMike, even if I don't win I had fun designing my ornament However, if I do win, I hope to win prize 3 or prize 6 of some sort Happy Christmas to all
  19. I think for a start your police station deserves its own topic It's looking really good so far... And in terms of your eatery idea, it could be the local cop hang out eatery... The police all need a good place to get their sustenance, after all, LEGO cities have a very high crime rate..... I'll look forward to more, happy building Edit: Oh, and I just became a knight!! Hoorah!!!
  20. Great entry and I think a bit of a bench mark. I'm not sure mine will compare very well to this So many details yet everything seems so simple. I think the chair is the highlight for me... Great entry and good luck!
  21. That's a really nice start! I'm really digging the interior, especially the inverted windscreen for the counter! And I like the rounded windows out the front too.. Great start and happy building
  22. Wow that colour scheme is really striking, I really like it!! And nice logo with the lettering, looks great too! Fantastic work and happy building
  23. Cool looking modular there, I like the windows on the second floor on the front, nice design! And the interiors are very well done too! I am a bit worried about the buildings either side squashing those flower boxes though Anyway, great work and happy building
  24. This is a very good example of the art deco architecture! You've done a great job capturing the feel and I love the layout of the building! I look forward to seeing the interior, even if it is a long way down the track, happy building
  25. Yes this a lovely layout as people have said the grass is an amazing feature. BUt yeah your piece count must be enormous! I think it's well worth the effect tho! I look forward to the next update, happy building
