DNR Shifter Issue
agrof replied to StudWorks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The tan gears are quite strong, if they not break, than there is still some bracketing issue which causes the slip, I guess. Without seeing a lot details, I see, that the bracket is not fixed solid enough. I would recommend to try this solution below, if this still doesn't solve the issue, you must rebuild completely. Also make sure, that the 5.5 L axles can not slide outwards - the shoulders of them should help here. LDD model is HERE. -

Very cool, that was quick! I think this is happening first, Lego MOC design time = real car design time.

We know what actions LEGO took on AFOLs recently (youtube channels, 3D printing community). Polished words, and power... I think, I am more worried, than excited about this news. Will see, I am pushing my fingers for all the friends on BL and for Stud.io - which is getting the most advanced CAD program on the field. We definitely need Bricklink and a good software for keeping the MOCs alive.

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
agrof replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
With all my respect, sorry, but the experiment and the conclusion is incorrect. Even the easiest (smallest) set is labeled as 7+. Your wife might will be able to notice this too. Of course this wasn't meant to demolish the final argument in the household, You have all my spiritual support to find reasons to convince her! -
42108 - Mobile Crane
agrof replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Ric079 Absolutely agree, not to mention this beauty from Erik Leppen: I can't help, but the proportions of 42108 are just screwed up. -
42108 - Mobile Crane
agrof replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was excited about this set, and what a big disappointment to me. The design (visually) is like it was made by some cheap Chinese toy company, probably the oversized cabin, the unbalanced scale of the upper structure, lame color decisions... It would have been enough to look into some pictures of real mobile cranes during the development. This is truly a missed opportunity to make a compact, modern mobile crane. No B-model is just discreditable to the name of Lego Technic - only exceptions can be the licensed models, but this drilled down to the level, which is not acceptable for me, at all. -
I just referred to the current situation. As discussed before in different topic, we are on a LEGO forum, this is the main reason why not to - better to say, that's why it is in the Community sub-forum. Sure, You can ask about it's actuality / validity, some of the moderator will answer in case, I can't.

I checked again. 1. My intention for audience is adults. 2. Lego might appeal to children. So despite my will, I must choose all the videos as "Made for children", so they will not appear accidentally (??? hello Youtube ???) and push ads/comments in the face of the kids? I thought by choosing this audience setting, there is some semi stupid filter, which will not list non-children set videos for children. (But than... how is it checked who is sitting in front of the monitor?) As I understand, I state my intention for audience - afterwards it is the service provider's (Youtube) responsibility how to handle the content properly. This is again the perfect mess of lawyer talking, You can understand as you want to... Can somebody bring exact example how to proceed?

What I don't get, why will YT override the intention of the author? If our LEGO videos are judged by author not children friendly (whatever if by complexity or by the way of presentation, even if they were made to earn money), than just set it like that, and will be not listed for youngsters. If videos with ads must not shown to children, than better to write the algorithm like it will not pop up non-kid friendly videos in the recommendations. That's it. In my opinion YT brought the advertising scheme and mode in the platform, they must solve this. BTW, is this regulated by international law, or how does it effect in EU (or even in each country)? There must be a simple overview, I am not a lawyer, not interested to be one, so...

Interesting concept, but somehow I can not make myself familiar with the idea to gear up the drivetrain for sake of compensating the portal hubs. Technically it is a nice challenge, and also like the concept so far, but I am afraid there will be enormous amount of friction, which with the high rpm together will eat up the parts... silicon spray could be handy here. p.s.: just curiosity... could be your crawler B model modded for 4 wheel steering? That would be the ultimate flick to TLG.

Glad to see the result, Your willingness inspires me too... I am digging out my unfinished MOCs now.

[MOC] Rocky 42099 B model
agrof replied to Didumos69's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very cosy video @kbalage, also like the improvement in your editing style! Who knows, maybe soon we will see a full evening Technic movie from You... @Didumos69 I am still in awe by this B-model (I just love extreme off-road vehicles), especially the diff locked version seems very capable. Visit in Hungary - please let us know, we will make good things happen than! -
Looks like a good solution! If it still fits into the chassis, than perfect.

Didn't take the time to look into deeper, correct... @StudWorks Than I have no better idea than changing the gear ratio there (reduce). It is still smaller sacrifice, than complete redesign - in case. Of course the latter is more challenging.

What if You leave the bush piece away, and use this part (below) as bracing in the liftarm, what Your finger resting on? As I see, there is space for it, and would be the easiest way. Of course 3L liftarm + 2 pins can do the job as well.
