Generic Contest Discussion
agrof replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What about going for smaller scale this time? Thinking about PullBack contest, or 400 pcs limitation. Less parts means more challenge, and also members with lower inventory could enjoy. Edit: could be divided into PF and Manual categories too. -
LEGO 42098 - C model Garbage Truck
agrof replied to Dyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Holy Moly - this is excellent! Great look, nice functions, I like the container arm a lot, so simple and efficient. The compaction is a bit unusual, but speaking about a C-model, this is really nitpicking from my side. Summary: PRO level MOC and presentation. Edit: would love an embedded video, instead of a link. -

After long pause, I sat down today to play around with LDD. Oddly the inspiration came from here - see below. This will be a concept UTV for King Of Hammers, first design is ready, I need to build IRL and test. Considering the Corona situation, it might remain digital for a while though, as I might not have all the necessary parts on stock. 323 pcs so far. Nothing special in terms of functions: suspension, HOG steering, differential with fake engine (easy pop-on/off), fake automatic transmission. The latter is just sume pulley wheels and gears rotating along with the cranckshaft, round and bulky, just like a real hydraulic one. In real model, I will fit the tire on the inner wedges of the rim, thus it will get a bit higher (~58 mm) but narrower (~22 mm) profile.

I took out all my LEGOs, and started to MOCing a bit. Trying to bring the best out of the situation. I am sure, the worst part will hit in the next weeks, actually I don't mind the economical effect - this full gas capitalism has to stop somewhere, maybe this is the time. Mankind must rethink and change paradigm, for sake of survive. Now I realise how well my title suits to me! Thank You @Jim! Till that, consumption focus on primer needs, and take my responsibility for each other (see: least physical interaction as possible). -

I just noted, I got a Rank label! Still wondering if it is positive or negative, but do feel some self-criticism here. -

Technic 2020 Set Discussion
agrof replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That might be also the case. Well, we never really liked this set, seems to be the same outside of the forum. Good reason to put this on 50% sale, and let this license go. At least the self costs would be covered. Just to bring some positivism: I am waiting for the Ducati and the Bell... they might be nice, but I keep my hopes low (f.e.: no B-models). -
Technic 2020 Set Discussion
agrof replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Set released on 18.11.2019... Advertisement online: 09.03.2020. Exactly what I assumed. TLG's marketing department goes full retard for a while, so I put them here again this, as friendly reminder: -
I wouldn't be that radical, the rear is quite good, but that windshield? How? Really nobody is disturbed by how much that square piece ruins the overall picture? With some extra printing it could have been solved, but would have been better a brick built solution... I see this as a huge design fault.

@MisteryMan BTW, your vote in TC17 is not correct, please modify it, otherwise it will be disqualified. All the text can be added in the end, but the numbers must be kept clean for the script, which will make the summ. See Jim's description. -

@MisteryMan I don't remember to see large actuators (also pneumatics) for sale on Bricks & Pieces, but I just checked on Replacement Parts: https://www.lego.com/hu-hu/service/replacementparts/sale XL actuator 40918, approx 10 Euro (similar prices on Bricklink) Small actuator 92693 is also there for 2,30 Euro (you can find 50% price usually on Bricklink) The normal large actuator 61927 is unfortunately not on stock, sold ~3-4 Euro on Bricklink. I would say, it is worth to collect required parts, and shop at once, at least you can save a bit on shipment. -
Absolutely, thanks for taking the effort! No upset here, also had my coffee, everything is much smoother now.
-
It is not about hurting the parts, it was only some questions, all were discussed afterwards, literally on the same page. (BTW, I don't find any reference for the second part of your sentence, with the normal black pin...) This is the normal way of discussion and development, so we both can learn and share experiences. We use this common practice in Eurobricks, especially with @Didumos69 we have some fruitful history. Seeing your comment, I think You are not familiar with legal and illegal connections, what is the background of these terms, and in what context it was used here. No offense, but please read the whole story first, before grabbing a random quote and jump into conclusions. Sorry if I misinterpreted, might be, it is early morning here.

[MOC] Concrete Mixer Truck

I really like this MOC, looks good, some neat ideas implemented. The drum is a bit out of the scale (I don't mind that though), but very Technic without using huge 1 piece molds. Drumroll, please! -

agrof replied to nerdsforprez's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have zero interest in this, but read the news. It is a bit hidden in the Brickset article, but one very important aspect of this to be read here by Brickstuff: https://medium.com/@brickstuff/lighting-the-lego-world-eff6e41e94d6 "Where does this leave us, considering today’s announcements? Seeing knock-off designs of your product in a LEGO® branded box is a shocking development from a company that puts such a strong emphasis on fairness that they have named their official company policy on intellectual property and copyright as “Fair Play.” It is also shocking considering the goal of the Lead User Lab is to foster information-sharing from small companies who already have more than a little fear about having their ideas appropriated by a much larger enterprise." Just a small quote - but please read the whole article before jumping into discussion (I did). If it is so, and seems to be to me, than this is a very disgraceful move from TLG, especially considering the fight they have with copycats. So even if I would buy such thing, for sure till this is not cleared ethically, I would go for Brickstuff lights in first place. But probably even after that - I stand for innovators. -
