  1. Excellent usage of the: Didn't even know this version. I guess the yellow connector pieces represent the shocks, right?
  2. Beside the above written, the 90° gearing has always has more loss, than 0° or 180°, and needs more proper bracketing. I see here no reason not to eliminate at least one of them. Keep it simple, thus reliable.
  3. They could at least do a simple visual trick for this purpose, just like I did here: black tire, black rim, and yellow dish. But they didn't... I still can not make myself comfortable with the proportions of this set... compared of the real thing, basically everything is off - but the cab and handrails are just ridiculous.
  4. Me stupid, it can be done even simplier:
  5. @MegaRoi What about this solution? Just tested, it is quite strong (the 2 axles connected), maybe not for an RC model, but I think could be useful here. I did not build the whole assembly, so can not judge if the "swingarm" construction is rigid enough, but allows definitely the 15 studs width. BTW - I smell GT40 here, looks good so far!
  6. Nice progress, but 15 studs limit is 15 studs, and it would not fit on 42098 - which is even harder to stretch. Jim was already generous in this contest, I think we risk to loose him forever by raising another one - also, you are the only one with this question, so I guess You can find a solution to meet the criteria. Look at the bright side: you have even more chance to have fun with building!
  7. That was excellent, both as reading, both as alternate model!
  8. I see, the constrains of alternative models. On the side note: speaking of alternative models, that C-Rex is my recent top favorite!
  9. Agree, those combined pictures are indeed on the borderline - also not very lucky for self marketing. With collages you distract the focus, it just looks messy to me, instead of making a WOW or WANT impression. These pictures are result of complete misunderstanding the concept of a contest structure - ENTRY topic is not to bundle every possible information into one comment, but should attract and catch our attention, thus for further details one just clicks on the WIP topic. On the other hand - if You don't like those, you don't vote for them.
  10. This is a very good idea with the pullback + lockable steering, which popped into my mind as well, but honestly I was/am too lazy to go further than thought experiment. I am happy to see it is so nicely implemented, and even as a C-model... great! As a challenge... would it be possible to connect the steering lock and the free-coaster mechanism, to operate both simultaneously with 1 lever movement? That would be the ultimate solution.
  11. @1980SomethingSpaceGuyHappy Birthday! Nonetheless, I think it is a good change You did, as technically your Hot Rod is more exciting (see: Technic) - meanwhile I sacrificed every mechanics for visuals (see: statue ). Ms. B is for sure happy with her ride!
  12. I find the azure/yellow/black for a good combination (matches to the engine details, with just the needed amount of sting in the overall pic, meanwhile the black wheels and details adds the right sharp details what the eye needs. Sure, You do it on your way. I think azure and lime not the best combination, as both are quite light colors, so there is no real contrast. Normal blue or dark blue and lime would be a hit. This. Just try to find the right balance. Meat + salt + pepper. Ready.
  13. Yummi, what a lovely suspension, it is so smooth and sexy, You should put age 18 sign in the video!
  14. I like the color variants too!
  15. TLG had the bar set high historically, but from this very moment actually copycats can claim that TLG is copying them, as they came out later with a certain (similar) design - and for average Joe it really is the message. At least this pushes TLG to change their defensive strategy, and go for more proactive, progressive (again) and more consumer oriented communication. At least I hope so. EDIT: something is definitely not OK with the current method, the internet is full with 42111 (and so many, that this can not be only due to mistakes of various shops), still none of the "official" reviewers could publish their, - I assume already armed reviews... or they did not even received their sets yet.. Anyhow, I feel sorry for them.
  16. They will definitely not send out before the official release - just like you can not buy them officially from shops either (don't mention the rule breakers/mistakes, please). No surprises here.
  17. Haha, thanks! Do you have more panels in purple and orange? It would be interesting to play around with bit recoloring here and there. I think it has everything for it's scale, do You plan to share the digital file later on?
  18. Much better, amazing how such a tiny touch can change the whole character.
  19. Nice one! I am still scratching my head, is European Indycar a thing? Google doesn't find anything... and it's just doesn't sound right, something like a mountain octopus.
  20. Ok, I see we need to settle a bit here. Historically, there was V1, than came V2. To see the difference, see Philo's proper test: https://www.philohome.com/pfrec/pfrec.htm V2 was not long around, as LEGO has updated the "V1" (without printing), which should combine the advantages of old V1 and V2 (I guess, there is no proof out there yet). Since that, there is only THE IR receiver - which you will find nowadays in sets and LEGO webshop. Unfortunately no comparison appeared yet. Also, here is a topic, where we discussed it already a bit in depth, hope this helps further... maybe combine the two topics would be an idea @Jim?
  21. Khm... mine came with 2 pcs of V2 receivers... don't forget, it was still produced in 2012.
  22. Despite some licensed sets are really nice, no B-models is no go for me. This trend shows that LEGO went for money pump and gave up the missions like: education, inspiration, sharing real creativity. In the past they stood out of the mass, today TLG is just another multi company, they just happen to produce toys. At least there are forums like this, not comparable to the scale of mass TLG can reach and could positively influence, but we exist.
  23. Looks very good already , I agree with some additional color. Maybe white or orange middle section along the body? Also, I might replace the small black panels at the cocpit, they blend the shape too much, thus the cocpit looks a bit oversized to me. I would give a try with azure there too (for uniform color body).
  24. I agree with @Go-Kart, it is very stylish and clean as it is. The wing as detachable add-on would be a nice touch, but not necessary. Maybe I missed something, does it has a HOG? Also, maybe the steering wheel could be one size bigger.
