Gee Golly Dandy, A small trade boat
Gideon replied to Mr. Townsend's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice little ship! I like the brickbuilt water, much better than a blue baseplate -
Story about a Forgotten Fruit...
Gideon replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice shape of the house and some great details -
Great setting and some excellent figs! Where is that white torso with the blood stain from?

It was the size and shape of the glasses which felt anachronistic, not the idea of glasses itself.

[The Frozen Beyond, Cat. A] Worenthon Tower
Gideon replied to Captain Flint's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice tower! I like how the wooden parts contrast with the highly textured stone walls. -
Another top class build from you, keep it up! I agree with LV that it's fantastic to see so many civilian Nocturnus builds now

What about other mythical creatures? Are all inhabitants of the new islands human or are any humanoids plausible? I'm thinking if natives could be for example cyclops, goblins or the like?

Nice landscaping and interesting creature design, it looks very well adapted to it's environment

Interesting story, seems like a few names are echoing the parallel universe of Historica Anyway, looking forward to reading more about the development of MAESTRO!

Nice build and suitable story for it! A piece of photo advice: the second pic looks blurry since only the front of the boat is in focus. Try moving the camera back a bit and zoom in or crop instead, and preferably with a larger f-number to increase the depth of field. On the other hand, having only some element (like a minifig) of the build in focus is a great way to emphasize that element

Intro: Welcome to Marcello's Rum Bar
Gideon replied to Simon_S's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent intro and great figs overall! You've almost convinced me to switch to fleshies for BoBS -
Very nice build which fits perfectly in this setting! Great minifigs as well, very fitting black hair piece The photography is very good as well, only nitpick is that I think the last picture would have looked better without the glare on the roof.

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
Gideon replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
As I wrote in the intro thread I think I will join Oleon as well when I'm back with my bricks Since Oleon is a major land power, is now at the start of the game the agriculture, mining etc in the "old world" still the most important part of Oleon's economy? But in any case I assume that the room for economic growth in those lands are very limited compared to the opportunities from colonization and conquest -
Very good idea! Paintings must surely be an important part of the culture of this world. I would humbly suggest that the leadership consider paintings as a challenge category sometime
-
Nice concept, good way to set the tone of "keep it dark, keep it realistic" which I like to advocate A suggestion for improvement is to make the land side a few plates higher than the water.
-
Nice fortifications and great way of showing how the surrounding terrain is frozen by the Algus I agree with dG that the lighting could be improved however.

Nice interior and story writing But aren't those glasses a tad to modern for being in the age of sail...?

[Frozen Beyond, Cat. C] Dangerous Ground
Gideon replied to Jakorin Swiftsword's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice color use The lore here is very suitable, an effective weapon but so rare that it doesn't contradict that others still have problems fighting off the Algus. -
I think I should sign up for Oleon since I've got a soft spot for bluecoats because one of my very first large sets in my childhood was the 6276 Eldorado Fortress (unfortunately I haven't found all the minifigs but I'm going to check at my parent's house if the flag still has it's clips intact). I've never ever built a single Pirate MOC as an AFOL and I have a strong "builder's block" when it comes to ships in general, so I think this would be a good challenge to get out of the sand dunes of Kaliphlin for a while Of course I don't really have time to participate in any significant way (can't even build 5% of what I would like to do for GoH now...), but being part of this game from the start feels like the only chance I have to not lose track completely. And after having missed the first great year of GoH I'm not going to repeat my mistake! Placed an order 20 minutes ago on some Pirates sets at the clearance sale at the online lego store which I accidentaly stumbled upon tonight, I feel very lucky! Also ordered a chess set even though it wasn't on sale (and Swedish MRSP prices are insane...) since it is such a good starter pack for figures, just need to get some hats for the bluecoats from BrickLink. I suspect that it is good advice for anyone who wants to join this game (and especially Oleon) to not miss out on the Pirates sets now when they are "retiring soon" and might go out of stock any day, in fact while I was shopping the two 70409 Shipwreck Defense I had in my cart disappeared before I had time to check out... compensated that with another 70410 Soldiers Outpost Looking forward to building my very first pirate ship (including my childhood, I never got the pirate ship...) and then hopefully turning it into a MOC vessel later Anyway, I'll return with a sigfig with backstory within a week or so when I'm back with my bricks.

Nice hut and foliage

Looks much better! A tad too dark perhaps however?
-
There's so much to love in this build! The landscaping is top notch and the well balanced mix between stone and wood of the keep looks great too. A couple of technical questions: How are the palisade logs attached? Is the water/clear ice built with a SNOTed layer of medium blue under the SNOTed trams-clear or is it som other technique?

Wow that's a substantial manor suitable for one of Kaliphlin's most important citizens! Great attention to detail in the interiors as well. The only thing which might feel a bit out of place (too modern) is that big diagonal window, but on the other hand I'm trying to claim that Barqa is known for the excellent glass produced there This gives me ideas for a trade task entry!
-
Nice rockwork! The vessel also look good, although I'm not too fond of that piece of cloth as the sail.
