  1. That's a huge monster! Nice use of the micro ship
  2. Innovative rockwork and great look overall! But how does this build stay together...?
  3. Great atmosphere and details! I think the muted colors fit the scene perfectly. But doesn't the widow look more angry than sad...?
  4. Welcome Thrazar! The Cyclops tribes will however resist any attempt to expand the influence into their lands!
  5. Happy New Year!! The astronomers of Barqa are in agreement that the stars are heralding a new era, but the astrologers are still debating what lies in store in the future.
  6. Nice eye design Those hands and feet look scary!
  7. I think it depends on the focal range you're using, but I try to stay above 10-11 at least for my overview shots (usually shooting those with a focal length in the 70-100 mm range) to try to get both the front and the back reasonably in focus. To keep the ISO low enough a tripod is exactly what helps, since the bricks don't move you can go for a high f-number (small aperture and therefore less light collected) and compensate by collecting light for several seconds instead In that range I would recommend considering a mirrorless camera, especially micro four-thirds (Olympus/Panasonic) seems to give a lot of bang for the buck these days. Although for fast moving targets I think DSLRs still have an advantage because of better autofocus systems.
  8. (What? Didn't I comment on this before?) Stunning build, with both an excellent look overall and great detailing Well done! I especially like the rounded shapes of the base which look very natural to me.

  10. Of course I asked because the pictures were looking good I especially like how the background turned out, but that is a paper background or has it been cleaned up in post-processing? If close-ups turn out better than overview shots of large builds I suggest using a smaller aperture (higher f-number) for the overview shots. If that means that you push the ISO-number too high and/or require a too slow shutter speed I suggest you to use a tripod. A tripod also helps to maintain the composition when fine-tuning the settings, but close-ups I sometimes still take handheld. What kind of camera are you looking for?
  11. Highly unexpected but gorgeous build! I love the dragon head design
  12. Lovely atmosphere and nice foliage! I also like how the cross-section of the ground looks
  13. Nice landscaping and a well-balanced and suitably detailed keep Well done!
  14. Seems like there are quite a few available on BrickLink for a reasonable price: alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=11233
  15. Nice build, especially the trees and the elk!
  16. Nice tower! Where are those unprinted wolf heads from? I like the first pics best where there are no visible shadows on the background. I'm not sure however if this build complies with the category A rules, since most sides should be present...?
  17. Beautiful house and great atmosphere. My favorite parts are the balconies and the small garden on the roof
  18. Thanks! Thanks! It was a test to do only texturing and not the usual dk tan mottling, I'm glad you think it turned out well Thank you! I had a lot of fun building those Algus Maybe figbarfing is underestimated? Kaliphlin is contrary to some ignorant beliefs not at all only desert!! Well, the sand red is from BrickLink (part of a bigger lot of "used in great condition" I ordered from the US, unfortunately it cost me a fair bit extra since the customs caught it...) The sand green is mostly from BrickLink also, but the masonry bricks are LUGBULK.
  19. Thanks! The guy in the barrel is not a new technique to this build, I used it back in one of my first GoH builds. Btw, seeing that build again makes me realize how useful plates and textured bricks are to make better walls and that a few years in GoH definitely has had me refining the "finish" of my builds in general (studs on the walkway behind the palisade??) Thanks! This build actually originated from that I got a bunch of sand green masonry bricks in the LUGBULK and wanted to try mixing them with tan Thank you! I feel a bit like I'm falling into a habit with my building style, but then again that might give the builds a bit of connection? At least I tried to move into a bit more green now Thank you! Only three to go... Most of the bricks in this build is from BrickLink or LUGBULK. Yes, it's "tan" in the BrickLink terminology or "brick yellow" as TLG calls it. Speaking of colors, is anyone else reacting that the sand green looks a bit strange or is it just my screen? It can hardly be the white balance that's off since I calibrated Lightroom against a proper 18% graycard but maybe there's something wrong in the calibration of the stronger colors? Or maybe I'm just used to seeing sand green in a particular light and this is how it "really looks like"... The final (and maybe most likely option?) I can think of is that it is the color contrast between the tan and sand green which pops more in the picture since I think my D750 is known to produce a tad too high saturation off the sensor. Enough action to merit a UoP siege credit...?
  20. Sorry for the triple-posting but that's simply because people should post more builds here! I would like to claim the UoP credit for Siege [Military Science] for this build.
  21. Impressive build, I get a strong Erebor association when seeing this I like the detailing on the upper parts of the pillars. Nice beds also.
  22. Great to see that the werewolves are back! Nice landscaping and foliage
  23. Category A entry posted! An Arkbri Fortress Falls
  24. A small castle in the lush Arkbri valley of Kaliphlin is attacked by the Algus. They have easily breached the gates using their formidable ice magic, and even frozen the ground and vegetation close to the gate despite the tropical heat of Kaliphlin. This is my category A entry to The Frozen Beyond contest. I also would like to claim the UoP credit for Siege [Military Science]. Resistance is futile... ...so some try an alternative to fighting. Most soldiers have already fallen. More pictures:
  25. Wow! That's one of the more impressive depictions of magic I think I've seen here in GoH Great atmosphere in the build.
