Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Has the train station been retired? It's still available from amazon UK. I'm also gonna wait and pick up the gingerbread house when the Christmas promotion becomes available. I think last year there were 2 seasonal gifts with purchase. One was given away on the week leading up to Black Friday and the second one was during December. -

Promobricks has revealed the new Christmas gift with purchase set for this year. A Christmas tree with train running around the base. It looks pretty good. -

I've just sent Lego Ideas an email about it. Hoping they can fix it before the weekend. -

@Modeltrainman and @Elysiumfountain I am having the same problem with not being able to access my profile page. I've checked and this doesn't seem to be the case with everyone though. You can still access the profile page of some members but not other. How strange, hope it gets fixed soon. -
Wow! I first saw this on Flickr earlier this morning, and I must say it looks very nice indeed. The whole model looks very polished and it's clear you have spent a lot of time getting this one just perfect. The most striking thing to me is the way you've set the front walls at an angle. It looks really fantastic and I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this in the same way before. Also I love the colour scheme, it's very bright in your typical style, yet the colours all work together really well. The various blues and oranges are a lovely combination and the stripey building on the right really pops. Other things I really like are the curved stairs and the way you've created a narrow alleyway at the side in a similar effect to Downtown Diner. Your renders also look amazing, especially the interior shots using the depth of field effect. Are these rendered using the native mecabricks rendering system or have you made them externally using Blender? Finally, I'm flattered that you decided to use my typewriter build from my Lego Ideas Police Station.

Here is a picture showing the work in progress of building the brick version of this model. Thanks very much @Miczur for sending me this picture. Thanks very much. Glad you like it. Thanks very much for these ideas. In the end I chose to use simple 2x2 plates with their backs showing. This was the best way I could find to create a similar appearance to the original digital model.

INSTRUCTIONS NOW AVAILABLE I'm pleased to say the instructions for The Queen Bricktoria are available now. I've had to make a few subtle adjustments to the design as some of the parts and colours in the original version were unavailable. One of the main changes was to the parts used to create the textured effect on the roof line, but I think it still resembles the original version pretty closely. Once again I teamed up with @supertruper1988 of "Cam's Brick" to create these instructions, and I must say a massive thanks as he has done a tremendous job of working out all the steps and setting up the instructions. Anyway here are a few pics showing how the buildable version of the model looks. The instructions are available now from Rebrickable. The Queen Bricktoria Instructions

Maybe they will both be retired. Last year Brick Bank and Detectives Office were retired at the same time. -

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
My assumption is that we'll get a large, intricately decorated gingerbread house, with loads of small pieces being used to create the decorations, which would soon eat in to the parts count. Although previous Winter village buildings have been open backed, I'm wondering if this one will be fully enclosed, maybe with a roof that can be taken off to reveal a detailed interior. I know that wouldn't be in keeping with previous sets, but I just can't imagine the open back style suiting a gingerbread house all that well. So if it does turn out be a fully enclosed building then this would also help to explain the larger than usual piece count. -

How strange. I assume the gravity falls set was turned down for licencing issues or something like that. But as @Digger of Bricks mentions, there is no obvious reason why the Japanese Tea Garden has been rejected. It must be very disappointing for the designers when they've gone to all the effort promoting there models, only for them to be rejected for review after they've reached 10,000. I only hope the designers have still been given the $500 Lego consolation prize that is normally awarded for projects that reach 10,000. -
Thanks very much, glad you like the post office. Yes the instructions for Queen Bricktoria are almost finished. I'll post an update when they're available.

[MOC] BRICKS & BLOOMS - Modular Garden Centre

A massive thanks to everyone who has supported the model on LEGO IDEAS. It has now passed the halfway stage of 5000 votes. -
Thanks very much indeed. I'm glad you enjoyed building the model and that you're pleased with the finished result. That's great to hear. The Queen Bricktoria Pub instructions will be ready soon. Thanks a lot. Glad you like it.

This is a really great looking moc. The tiled roof on the right side building looks very effective and I also like the printed cloth piece used as the awning on that building. The colour scheme of the whole model looks really nice and it works very well next to Downtown Diner. The interior also looks great especially thanks to those jaw dropping lighting effects on your renders. Great work!

Poorly Cut Stickers on 2019 City Space Sets 60226 and 60227
Bricked1980 replied to Vorkosigan's topic in LEGO Town
I recently picked up the City harvest transporter (60223) and have noticed the same problem with the stickers in that set. Many of the stickers seemed to be more difficult than usual to peel from the backing sheet, almost as if they hadn't been cut out as well as they normally would be. On some of them the adhesive was separating from the stickers and staying attached to the backing paper as well. -
I was surprised to see it featured for a second time on the front page too. Thanks very much. Glad you like it.

[MOC] BRICKS & BLOOMS - Modular Garden Centre

Thanks very much! The white detailing on the main building certainly seems to have divided opinions on this one. Quite a few people have commented that it looks a bit too much with somebody even comparing it to a gingerbread house. Regarding the colours used. I was trying to go for earthy colours with greens as well to reflect the "gardening" theme. Thanks for the comments though, I'll take it all on board for my next creations. In the meantime here is a microscale version of "Bricks & Blooms" I created recently. And also a big thanks to everyone who is supporting the model on LEGO IDEAS It only needs just over 200 votes now until it reaches 5,000. -
Thanks a lot. I'd love to see some more pics, any chance you could post a link to the facebook page please? I hadn't realised it was for sale on bricklink. I found those images just from doing a google image search.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion
Bricked1980 replied to TheArturro's topic in LEGO Town
This looks like a nice set. My only complaint is the quality of the printing on the cockpit window piece. The printed white areas stand out like a sore thumb against the white bricks in the rest of the model which is a bit of let down. Especially considering it doesn't look like that on the box art or any of the promotional shots of the set. -
Thanks a lot for the kind comment. Glad you like it.

I stumbled on these images whilst browsing online earlier today. These are the first pics I've seen from anyone who has built the Post Office using real bricks.

I've been really busy with work over the past couple of months so haven't had time to work on any new mocs. I am definitely hoping to start work on my next moc soon though. I've got ideas for a new modular I want to build and also another vintage vehicle I want to start working on too.
