  1. Thank you very much, this is good news!
  2. The Mad Hat Crabs are rocking Bardo, and the people love it:
  3. My (unlicensed) entry for category 2: Since I will not get my entry for category 3 finished today, I would really appreaciate an extension.
  4. After winning "Mesabi Landing's Got Talent", the Mad Hat Crabs moved to Bardo, eager to rock the Musicians Talent Fair. The WTC had built a giant crab-shaped platform the band was playing on, while being carried through Bardos street by some WTC Marines. The Mad Hat Crabs played their smashing hit song, with folks left and right joining in: "Everybody: yeah, yeah, yeah! dideldum-didelda Yeah, yeah, yeah! didelda-dideldum Yeverybody: yeah, yeah yeah! Yeah! Yeah! [sax and drum do their thing] Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" The crowd loved it, and even the WTC Marines - despite the hard work - had a good time. ===================================================================================================== Some more pictures of the crowd without the "main act": A 16x16 plate fits almost perfectly under the build: As always, C&C are appreciated.
  5. Great builds indeed, setting up the scene nicely. Placed three four bids.
  6. Just came back from a nice evening of ESC, booze and food. The preperation for that (and the event itself) did cost me most of yesterday and today, and with only two entries total in categories 2 and 3 I ask: can we please postpone the deadline at least a day or two?
  7. Cool continuation of the story, and a funny read once again! The horse is gone? Seems like the WTC is not alone in its appreciation of this type of delicacies. The "monster effect" is surprisingly impressive for so little parts used, well done.
  8. Do it. Do it!
  9. Great to see an oldtimer return, welcome back! You do not have to "repost" any characters you have played in the past, simply use them again. You could also - in addition, not as a replacement - introduce (a) new character(s). The more, the merrier.
  10. The first house in North Quarter was quickly finished. Irma Rater returned home to her husband Peter after a day of hard work: . Their new home was not a palace, but it came with a functinal interior: . The rent was quite affordable, and P.& I. Rate could not be happier in their new home.
  11. "Mornin' Mordo!" "Mornin'? M'lady, it is late afternoon!" "Eh, I just got up, which makes this morning. Anyway, who is the walking wall of paper?" "Just Joe, with the paperwork for my newest project: a new quarter north of Mesabi Landing. By the way, where is that nice carpet gone?" "Away for cleaning. Puked on it after emptying the crate of wine over there last evening. So, this North Quarter... tell me more." "See, we have grown Mesabi Landing considerably over the last months, and we had a huge influx of workers and whatnot. Most of these have no houses yet though, and we should change that. So I want to get a housing project on the way, giving every minifig a cheap home that needs one." "Mordo, we are not the Salvation Army - where is the profit for the WTC?" "Once all those houses are built and filled with happy tenants, we can just raise the rent by 20% or whatever we want. Nobody will want to leave their new home, so they will pay. And next year we simply do it again. Whoever moves out will quickly get replaced by others - which we can rip off with even higher rent." "Brilliant! Make it so!" ======================================================================================= I noticed Mesabi Landing having a serious shortage in residences - something that will change over the next weeks and months. Most of the houses will look very similar, which is done on purpose. The houses are supposed to be pretty standardised, and I also have a look similar to the settlements of Lanzarote in mind: So: mostly white, with contrast colours on windows and doors. Expect nothing spectacular, this is meant to be row after row of small houses - basically a dormitory town. To not flood the forum with threads, all residence builds will be posted in this thread.
  12. That would be a pretty awesome microbuild on its own already. But catching the spirit of Eldorado Fortress elevates it even more. Really well done!
  13. What a hilarious story, and with a great build to go with it! The forced perspective is brilliantly done indeed. Well done! But is it? How can you tell she did not survive? By selling the organs of "accidental victims" on the black market? Boo! She had such a charming character. I am sure she would have had a great future in the WTC. And maybe the story is not over...
  14. Nice little build. But... ... I doubt it. Unless I missed something - and I very well might have - Montoya is still missing in the wilderness. @Bregir?
  15. Hilarious as usual - I actually LOLd multiple times! Great WHF/40K and general tabletop gaming references. And the builds are of course great too, with the microbuild being just spectacular.
  16. @Roadmonkeytj Can you provide some more details for both cases - like where the crew is being held captive, or where the pirate camp might be? Or are we going to make up our own stories in either case? Just asking for clarities sake.
  17. So essentially: "just shut up, and do not question us". Yeah, that surely leaves a good impression...
  18. All I can say at this point: I agree with Mesabi, and this whole "do not speak up, or we might kick you out" attitude from most of "leadership" is really alarming. Stuff like that kills communities.
  19. I just noticed that this ship is currently a "staff pick" on the Lego Ideas page. Congratulations!
  20. I think I am in a minority here, but I feel like three CMF series per year is more than enough - I would rather only have two. One licensed, one regular, done.
  21. Nice little build. Does it only look like it, or are the green plates rather dusted? If they are: a smooth brush is all you need to get rid of it. Another thing I noted is that the story makes little use of its context. It is implied that your character is supposed to be an instrument maker looking for the best wood available - but you could have spelled that out. Same for his motivation, which is most likely to ue the Bardo festival as an opportunity to make a name for himself in terms of instrument building. As it is, the story seems to be rather random to me.
  22. I nice build on its own, but that it comes from 60182 - wow! I actually had to check for that set, because I did not recognise it from the parts used (I of course know it). Well done!
  23. My entry for category 1: Licensed as small art and culture for Mesabi Landing.
  24. Mesabi Landing's Got Talent! When word from the upcoming Musicians Talent Fair in Bardo reached Mesabi Landing, the WTC decided to only send the very best talents. To find those talents, a big casting show was initiated, named "Mesabi Landing's Got Talent". The greatest success only contenders were the "Mad Hat Crabs": The jury consisted of three members, namely Agnes Mesabi and Kadeus Mordo from the WTC as the main host of the event as well as Gonzo "Drunknok" Thompson from the "WTC Monthly" (which also sponsored the event). Mordo hated music, but was needed in case a decision was tied. Agnes took the word: "So my dear Crablandians, please introduce yourself!" "Folks call me "Magic Mike", I am the singer and leader of the "Mad Hat Crabs" ... ... there is also "Crazy Joe" playing the saxophone - something you minifigs will invent in a few decades ... ... and finally our man crab on the drum set, "Wild Bill". He's got the rythm, lady! Alright folks, hit it!!!" "Everybody: yeah, yeah, yeah! dideldum-didelda Yeah, yeah, yeah! didelda-dideldum Yeverybody: yeah, yeah yeah! Yeah! Yeah! [sax and drum do their thing] Yeah, yeah, yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" Agnes Mesabi was the first to speak: "Well, I am impressed. Not only is that a catchy tune, but the text is what really brings it together! You managed to bring a larger dialectic discourse into this, while keeping the message clear and on point. There are so many levels on which this can be discussed, a summary of the current philosophical and political debates for sure... well done! Aye from me!" Drunknok spoke next: "Yeah, yeah! Aye!" Mordo finished: "I hate music, but this one ain't bad. Aye!" And so the "Mad Hat Crabs" will represent Mesabi Landing at the yearly Musicians Talent Fair in Bardo! =========================================================================================================== Licensed as small art and culture in Mesabi Landing. One more shot of the whole build "open": As always, C&C are appreciated.
  25. Lovely city layout, with too many great MOCs to comment on them all. Just overall awesome! Where from Germany are you from? P.S.: The Serenity caught my eye as well. Thumbs up!
