Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Repairs Studcount: 48x48 (2,304) Repairs continued in Mesabi Landing every day. Today, a street was being cobbled, whilce cleanup on the shoreline was done. Joseph Zumbro supervised the work from in front of a small pub. The pub, of course, had been one of the first buildings repaired in Mesabi Landing. Around back, the mess of the shoreline was slowly being dealt with. The newly cobbled road would help things, was the thought. But that didn't stop the WTC from trying to make some work of it before the road was finished. Next to the Bar was a stately house that had been hit hard, and been half washed out. But there was still plenty of work to be done... FIN Thanks for viewing another repair build. Originally, I was just going to have rails next to the road, but then I realized that I wouldn't have really built anything. So, I replaced where the rails were going to be with some buildings. I hope the grey building isn't to simplistic. I used grey 2x4 tiles to try and make it look like it had mason work done. I looked at several techniques for making stone buildings look interesting, but I wasn't quite happy with any of them, as they were mostly for medieval buildings. The White building uses the same siding technique as my last build, which I think works well, and the roof is based of of a build I saw a while back in GOH. The tsunami washout was inspired a bit from my time in Duluth, on Lake Superior. The lake washed out canal park almost every november or so. Anyways, C&C appreciated. Let me know any improvements I can do

Recently HMS La Belone joined the fleet of Commodore Willem van Baarle in Mesabi Landing. After a fierce battle Commodore Van Baarle needed more ships to join his private fleet to defend Corrington's land and sea against some scumback pirates. Now, another ships arrived at the outer harbor of Mesabi Landing. It is the mighty HMS Black Prince. This class 7 vessel is another addition to the growing fleet. Captain of the HMS Black Prince, Harford 'The Shadow' Hayhurst walked across the jetty to the harbor master. The harbor master shook his hand and welcomed him to Mesabi Landing: "Good to have you here! This new ship is a welcome addition to Commodore Van Baarle's fleet!" Capt. Hayhurst nodded in agreement. "On the way we came across a 'man-of-war', a large ship with a double cannon deck. It is on its way to join the fleet! We saw several ships with a Corrington flag coming this way, also. Reinforcements are on their way!" Collab build with @boeing_787_8_dreamliner. A while back, Peter Nash (architect) met the wealthy farmer 'Padre Azúcar' (Sugar Cane Plantation, Queenston). After the completion of the new plantation in Queenston, he had planned to further expand his sugar empire to Mesabi Landing. He saw opportunities here to grow agave. Agave is an important raw material for tequilla. 'Padre Azúcar' was very charmed by the work of Peter Nash and invited him again to design his Mexican style farmhouse. The farmhouse consisted of a two-storey building, with two roof terraces. Both can be reached via an outside staircase. The top roof terrace gave an insane view over the sprawling agava plantation. Here, sheltered by the pergola, stood an office desk belonging to 'Padre Azúcar'. This has to be one of the nicest workplaces there is. Workers in the plantation walked in their typical white clothing with red scarves. It was hard work. While enjoying the music of the Mariachi band, Peter took another good glass of tequilla. He shook hands with 'Padre Azúcar' and set out again for new adventures. --- Licensed as a Large Plantation in Mesabi Landing, by @Bricksbypidy. Location: Mesabi Landing- Flooded District Type: Small Commercial Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 When the Tsunami hit Mesabi Landing, it claimed some of the settlement as its own. However, stubborn as a herd of carnivorous mules, the residents of Mesabi Landing simply raised their businesses up. Karl Mordo disembarked from the water taxi, and walked up to the bridgeway level. Into the Flooded district Waymart he went, muttering about 'profit margins' and 'incursions into Namere.' Suddenly, Tony burst into the Waymart, rattling the door. "It's the big man's colours!" he purred, then left without saying another word. Mordo exited the store, and ran out to the bridge. Through his personal telescope, he looked out into the bay. FIN So, this build has been on my shelf since early october. I hadn't really been sure what do for a story with it, but I think that the direction I went with is ok. I had some trouble with the photography on this one, and I'm considering reshooting the pictures. The area of course, is the Flooded District (Something I created to give Mesabi Landing more varied areas after the Tsunami), but I think this is one of the first builds I've really done their. Anyways, C&C appreciated, and thanks for viewing!

Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Royal Collab Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 It was a breezy day in Mesabi Landing, as the winds of change blew through the dusty settlement. Karl Mordo stood on the WTC VIP dock, waiting for the arrival for Count Mesabi. “Now, the Count has always been insane. Unfortunately, after his return from the south, he’s only grown more egomaniacal, and crazy. He’s also very lethal. Unfortunately, we can't strike first. We'll need to wait till he attacks.” Said Mordo in a concerned tone. He peered out into the water towards the approaching rowboat. “I knew the danger when I signed on, sir.” Said the WTC Elite Guard. “Good," replied Mordo, "I have already prepared the pension for your widow. It is possible he may decide to orphan your children as well, so there are funds allocated for a new orphanage.” Replied Mordo stoically. “Is it a coal mining orphanage, like the other one?” asked the guard. “It may be a coal mining orphanage, like the other one...” MEANWHILE The rowboat bobbed in the water as Count Mesabi and Darby were rowed towards the shore. “Alright Darby." Said the Count, "The man we’re set to meet is very dangerous. His work in the Telvoki campaign of the Juniper War earned him the name, ‘The Ripper.’ He’s going to try and have us killed. We'll wait for him to strike first” Darby: “Wait! We hired a guy with the nickname 'The Ripper?!?' Why?!?” Said Darby, realizing his life was once again in danger. Mesabi: “I remember his resume being near the top of the pile. Anyways, expect a sniper team, and perhaps cannons…” Said the Count with the same regard for the statement as his tea order earlier that morning. The Rowboat found it's way to the pier. The Count and Darby disembarked, and began to walk towards Mordo. “Hi there, Karl. Glad to finally meet you…” Said the Count, with more than a hint of paranoia. “And Hi to you, Count Mesabi. Glad of you to Grace the settlement….” Replied Mordo, with slightly more paranoia. “I hope we can discuss business” Continued the Count, accentuating more of his words. His eyes darted the horizon, looking for snipers. Karl: “Yes, business is to be Discussed. Shall we?” Finished Karl, not venturing out further onto the dock in case it exploded. The two continued into the settlement.... TO BE CONTINUED.... Continuing Mesabi's story of his journey towards Fatu Hiva. I hope this build looks polished enough, but @Darnok is going to find some brick I didn't push down. I had fun writing the story for this one, but it took a few drafts. I resisted the urge to have an action sequence, but I think it's better without one. C&C appreciated! pt. 3, coming soon...

The words had all but been long forgotten. The phase hadn't been uttered since 443 when the great plague swept the nation's. Now in 619 we are hear the phrase again being shouted through the streets the sickening phrase. "BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!" The body collector's cart rolls through a neighborhood in Mesabi Landing today. The earthquake was cold and emotionless harshness. It cared not for age or sex or class. As the building crumbled sending rubble crashing down it claimed many lives. Now as the Landings residents try to restore their town they will ever more be haunted by the phrase bring out your dead. OoC so the earthquake inspired a bit of Monty Python to ring through my head and this build resulted. Mesabi landing (if approved) is allowed to use it towards its stud total just let me know how / when to licence.

Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Large Artisan It was evening in Mesabi Landing. Shadows stretched across the sand as Princess Isabella, Countess Agnes Mesabi, and Mordo walked to a pub. Waterfront in Mesabi Landing by North White, on Flickr "The Count has returned to known territory, and he has an... interesting... proposal." Said Mordo, not revealing his thoughts on the matter. "Yes, but this won't change anything with our plans for Gondova, will it?" asked Isabella with concern. Waterfront in Mesabi Landing by North White, on Flickr "No, and we're agreeing to his proposal. We just need the Queen to agree. If that's even possible..." Said Agnes. "We leave for Gonda tomorrow. We take the Red Queen, The Icarus Returning, the Destroying Angel, and as many troops as we can raise." Waterfront in Mesabi Landing by North White, on Flickr The three entered the pub. The pool players took one look at who had walked in, and offered their sticks to Agnes and the Princess. Waterfront in Mesabi Landing by North White, on Flickr "Tomorrow, Namere will begin a new chapter. but tonight? We get wasted!" Said Agnes. "Didn't you say that yesterday?" asked Mordo Continuing the story is @Drunknok... Later on the same day, Princess Isabella had already left, Agnes Mesabi was still playing billard, with a WTC crowd gathered around the table. And while Agnes enjoyed herself, Mordo had some other business to do right behind the pub. Agnes playing... ... Mordo leaving through the back door. . "Listen you two, this must not fall back on me. You get paid well, and you keep your mouths shut - if you know what is good for you. Take care of that thing with the guy in the place... make it look like an accident. You know... the usual." "Aye, Mr. M.!" Later on, the crowd left one by one, Agnes Mesabi was still playing, getting more drunk by the minute, slowly losing patience with the balls: . In the end, the game was still not finished, but the evening ended well for Lady Mesabi, snoring loudly: FIN Thanks for viewing my build. C&C appreciated. Also Mesabi Landing has elevated Rails now.

The Brick Seas are a rough place, that much is for certain. The Wayfarer Trading Company did its best to make them a safer space. But despite their succes in hunting down pirates, potential dangers were still everywhere. A war between Prio and the Sea Rats had just been averted, but oerall tensions were still high. Mesabi Landing had to stay safe. So it was decided to invest in a series of large fortifications, with the first one guarding the harbour. Three others would follow, being set up around the settlement, protecting it in all directions, shielding it from any attack. This first fortress was named West Shield: Observation Point Main Battery Minor Battery Delta Storage Level Mobile Defense ======================================================================= A large fortress for Mesabi Landing, licensed by the WTC. Build sizes are as follows: Observation Point: 32x32 Main Battery: 32x32 Minor Battery Delta: 16x32 Storage Level: 32x32 Mobile Defense: 16x32 It all adds up to 64x64, i.e. the footprint of a large fort. Each build is supposed to be one section of the fort, but not in the way that they would be combined into one single structure. Imagine that each of these is exemplary for similr structures in West Shield, and that there are parts of the fort you do not get to see. As always, C&C are appreciated!

Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Royal Factory A wagon rumbled along the tracks towards the largest building in Mesabi Landing, the royal shipyard. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr The structure was massive, and was built into the harbour, for immediate ship launch. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr The designers, architects, and engineers carefully studied the designs, before relaying the information to the grunts for execution. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr Today, 2 ships were under construction, the WTC Robin and the WTC Blue Moon. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr Agnes and Mordo walked towards the factory, their usual custom for when a new factory was operational. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr Agnes walked to the table with a manifest. "We need you to double your output. We need more money to fund this giant factory." The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr Inside, wood was cut, and unloaded, all from other islands that actually had trees. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr A crane lifted materials from the rail cars to the staging ground. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr It slid down the rails into the water. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr And with that, the WTC had another ship. The royal shipyard by North White, on Flickr FIN Thanks for viewing this massive build I did. The hard part wasn't building it, but photographing it in my tiny room was damn near impossible. I'd like to license this as a royal factory for the WTC. As this requires a charter, I hereby apply for it. I hope that this build meets the requirements for a royal build. The footprint is 96x96, which is lower than the 100x100 requirement, but I feel this is a little arbitrary, and hope leadership would agree. If you would like it to be 100x100, I can add a 32x32 section to the factory. As for the quality, I have put my best foot forward with the pieces I have, and I hope leadership would allow for this to be considered of royal quality. If it is not, well, I'll just license 3 large factories this month. C&C appreciated, as usual.

Flying Fish Fountain ML fountain by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr On a peaceful path not far from a outdoor sausage smoker, is a serene fountain called the Flying Fish Fountain. No one is quite sure how it got that name, because of course, fish don't fly... at least not unless someone is throwing them. Then they can fly quite far... With the cheap meat available around Mesabi Landing, it was fairly obvious that something had to be done with that. Realising that setting up just a grill wouldn't be too interesting - it had been done many times before - James Hred decided it would be best to do something nobody had done before in this city - why not cook the meat while it was rotating? This would cause an issue - all the grease would drop into the fire. To prevent that, he decided to set up the rotating part vertically. But wait, there is no vertical fire that would evenly heat the meat - the meat now has to be heated by metal rods that were heated to glowing red in an oven nearby. A pretty involved procedure, just to make some fancy cooked meat that can be cut off the roll... Here you can see a bit more of the procedure - a young boy is turning a winch, which is in turn turing a belt which rotates the meat. Another assistant picks up the glowing red metal rods and replaces the ones that have cooled down. James Hred cuts off the good meat and sells it to locals. Now, James has run into an issue - he isn't very creative at naming things. He needs help naming this new technology and hopes it can be simplified in the future - having 3 people work for this seems quite ineffective. If someone were to develop a better solution he is willing to offer a 150 DB reward if it were set up in an Eslandolan Settlement. Licensed as a small Artisan in Mesabi Landing

Said Agnes "I'm just saying I want grandkids," Said Lady Zumbro. "Mother, don't tempt me. You know I don't bluff." "I'll be inside spiking the punch for you." Lady Zumbro walked off. Merrynight by North White, on Flickr "So, I stood out there in the freezing cold, while my mother was arrested for tampering with a punch bowl." "Anyways, your deadbeat father walked up." Merrynight by North White, on Flickr "Hey, you want some liquor?" Said Captain Mesabi Merrynight by North White, on Flickr "Shouldn't you be guarding the queen?" I asked "Nah, I'm on balcony duty because 'ceremonial cannons are not meant to be used against potential assassins.'" "Wait what?" I asked, but he said nothing and handed me some Vodka Merrynight by North White, on Flickr "And that's how I met your father." Agnes Finished "That was a lame story Mommy!" Said Kevin "Yeah, you really should of used more descriptive language, or used some scene transitions." Said Morissa Merrynight by North White, on Flickr "Where the $#@% did your Nanny go?" Asked Agnes FIN Thanks for viewing my entry in @Drunknok's merrynight challenge! I thought I'd use this opportunity to flesh out the background of my characters some more. Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Medium Factory As acting Mayor of Mesabi Landing, Karl Mordo had to oversee the opening of new factories. Not that he wanted to be mayor. In fact the position had started to take over his personal life as well. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr This was the second Cannon Factory on Argentia, adding to the Island's destructive power. But what Karl really wanted was a nice nap. He grumbled as they let him in. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr The WTC foreman spoke. "Much like our other factory, we melt things down into a mold on a rail system. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr Molten Iron flowed into the mould with a hiss. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr And for the next four hours, Karl Mordo was forced to make awkward small talk with the WTC's most boring Foreman. Because he needed to verify that the same iron poured into the cannon mould would become the cannons as mandated by Corrish Law. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr Finally the mould was cracked open, revealing four small deck guns. "We pride ourselves on being able to recycle the mould here." The foreman said happily. Karl Mordo sighed. It was hot out. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr Finally the barrels were drilled out to Corrish standards, making another set of working cannons. Mesabi Landing Foundry 2 by North White, on Flickr "We'll have a third soon." Said the foreman. But Karl Mordo had already walked off... FIN Thanks for viewing my build! Sorry for the hiatus. "Nok, nok, nok..." Gonzo "Drunknok" Thompson walked around in the office of the "WTC Monthly", his peg leg making the familiar sound that gave him the second part of his nickname. The half-full bottle of rum on the table had something to do with the first part. Gonzo was busy getting the latest issue printed. He had the handwritten text in front of him, as well as most of it on the printing plate already. The process of setting up the printing plate took a lot of time, since the text had to be set letter after letter, word after word, out of little blocks of metal each with a negative cut-out of one letter or syllable. A few lines of text were still missing, and he looked for the right letters - luckily they were right next to him in a well sorted shelf. The most common letters had more blocks available in boxes at the top, the least used only had small boxes at the bottom. The finished printing plate was then coated with black ink: It was then put (upside down of course) into the printing press... ... moved over the clean paper and finally mechanically pressed onto the paper: With the printing plate done once, it was now possible to repeat the printing process as often as wanted - simply return the plate, add new ink and fresh paper, press, then start again. The "WTC Monthly" will find its way to every minifig in the Brick Seas - that deserves some more rum. Cheers! =============================================================================================================== A small artisan for Mesabi Landing. More pictures in the spoiler tag: I am not happy with how the building looks from the outside. Usually I like reduced colour palettes, but in this case the result looks like one of those 80s Lego City houses. The inside turned out okay, with a few compromises in terms of realism due to the scale. Obviously the roof is removable, but so is the back wall for even easier access:

[Disclaimer: Due to the size of this builds layout and the restrictions of my lightbox I could only do a few limited shots of the whole assembly. Some subassemblies had to be shot on their own. As usual: please excuse my poor photography skills.] It was another sunny day in Mesabi Landing, and the harbour was as busy as always: Some WTC Marines enjoyed a fistfight between two sailors... ... while Gonzo "Drunknok" Thompson just enjoyed a moment of rest and peace (and a bottle of rum): Some had todays work already done... ... and others still had a lot to do: The captain of the "Cranky Parrot" was discussing something with Joe... ... while another sailor was heading straight for the "Blue Dragon" right down the road: === WTC Warehouse One of the WTC Operators is taking stock: "Four Corrington suits, minor blood stains, check. Two pompous Corrie hats, check. Three flags, check. You never know when any of these might come in handy..." " ... one big barrel of beer, check. Two sacks of potatoes, check. One rat guarding the warehouse, check. Six bottles of rum, che... waitaminute! Only five bottles? Oh well, I guess Drunknok needed some inspiration for his newspaper. Fine, five bottles it is then." Harbour Tax Office When Mesabi Landig was founded, one of the first things the Crown set up was an office for the collection of harbour taxes. Little did they know how the WTC would handle things! No doubloons were ever collected here, and over time the building fell into disrepair. The Corrington red is still flying though - order must be upheld! Now the ruins are home to Steven, one of the local crabs. He is the brother of Barney, the bouncer at the "Blue Dragon". WTC Harbour Office . Guarded by two trustworthy (?) WTC Infantry... ... in this building all captains have to register their ships when coming to Mesabi Landing. One of them is doing so right now, while two more are waiting: "Welcome to Mesabi Landing. Your hat looks odd, what is it with the skull and bones?" "Arr, good lady, 'tis my families coat of arms. You see, we are honest to the bone, hence the skull and bones." "I see. For a moment I feared you were a pirate. Please note that piracy will not be tolerated here." "Of course!" "So, what are you trading with?" "Well, artefacts. Mainly made of gold, like these coins." "I see, good. Now we only need your name, and you can continue with your trades." "Umm, I think you want another of our artefacs for further examination." "I see. Mr. Smith, welcome to Mesabi Landing!" ============================================================================================================ Well, that was quite some work. Leaving out the plate with the office of the "WTC Monthly" on it, this build has a footprint of 3072 studs, and will be licensed as a large commercial property for Mesabi Landing. Building the whole thing took me about a month. It is of course modular, while I did not build any structures to support the not-water-plates (being 5 bricks above ground). The harbour sections can easily be rearranged, there are connector holes on the edges for stability. @Ayrlego @Mesabi: Please let me know if you want something to be depicted in any of these builds, for a collab or whatever you want. If not, I will take most of it apart soon. C&C are appreciated.

The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr Chef Curtis awoke in a sweat. He got up. The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr "Well now, this cannot go on any longer. Something needs to be done!" Gracefully, he got to work, molding the dough into a shape that could hold a greasy sausage. Or horsauge. The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr Quickly, he put the design into the oven. The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr Some time later, he pulled out his design. It was perfect The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr Pulling a sausage from a chest, he put it inside the bun. He handed it to the first customer without a word. The Horsage Holder by North White, on Flickr "Well now, this is good. The Sausage isn't getting my hands all greasy. But it's a bit bland. It needs something..." FIN Thanks for viewing my build! "Mr. Zumbro, we have a mission briefing!" She said in a concerned voice. "Exactly, nothing important!" He left her desk and walked over to Pete. WTC sales division by North White, on Flickr "Mr. Zumbro, I can't believe you're late again. Do you know how unprof-" Mr. Zumbro cut Pete off. Asked Zumbro, "Cause we killed a looooot of Horses last month." "Basically. Anyways, we need to establish an office there. And the last time we were there...." WTC sales division by North White, on Flickr "Yeah Yeah. We were pretty drunk after that soccer match. We got some neat stuff out of that warehouse though." Said Sally. "Yeah... And also probably ruined relations with them. So, do what you can." Said Pete angrily. "To destroy their water supply and orchards?" Asked Zumbro "No! To set up a company house, and to start doing business with them. You idiot." Said Pete. "So get a ship and get on it!" "Are you sure?..." "Yes!" FIN Thanks for viewing the character introduction for Joseph Zumbro. I'm trying to work on adding more characters so I'm not limited to just Agnes and the Count. C&C appreciated everyone.

Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Medium Educational Mesabi Landing was booming, and Mordo had much to do. Today he walked to a new Business, the Karst Geographers. Karst geographical by North White, on Flickr He entered the building to find one of the Geographers sitting at a desk, penning a letter. Karst geographical by North White, on Flickr "Mr. Mordo! Karst geographical by North White, on Flickr They all walked over to a table where maps lay spread out. The Second Geographer pulled out a map and showed to Mordo. Mesabi Landing Map by North White, on Flickr "I must say gentlemen, I'm Impressed!" FIN Karst Geographical is now accepting commissions! Any mayor or civil servant can request a map of their settlement for the price of 100 Dbs! Corlanders served without charge! Simply PM Me @Mesabi Thanks for viewing my newest build. I really tried to do something different with the roof this time, and also tried to detail the outside. environment. I'm not sure if this can be counted as an educational, I felt maps were knowledgey, but if leadership disagrees, let me know. I won't license this for a few days. I didn't put much story, as this is mostly to display my new map of Mesabi Landing, but I will get back into regular silliness soon. C&C appreciated!
