Celestia’s Superb Orchid - Era II, Challenge I RESULTS POSTED

When will the "monetary prizes" be transferred? Another two months?- 121 replies

I doubt it, since that was never done before, at least not by my impression. But @Phred can surely clear this up.

Any day now?

The message was sent to the man called "Beardface", and he quickly summoned his team among the celebrations on Mesabi Landing: "Guys and lady, it seems there is another party going on without us. As awesome as he is, even Tony can not handle that one alone. So he asked us for help, and has sent some kind of riddle:" Sail quickly as natives may make your journey troubled so be ready to furl the sails on the double. Be cautious though my friend as the reefs will surely bring you to an end keep a keen eye out so as to not snag your keel. Don't be distracted by an sweet treats they will only lead you astray. Take heed me boy for these words will guide the way. . . Mary-Anne Faust was the first to speak up: "Sounds a lot like piraty gibberish, are we sure this is not some Sea Rat ploy to lure us into a trap somewhere?" "Darling, even if that was the case, I am sure we could handle anything those bastards throw at us", Columbo Faust replied, "and I must say this sounds a lot like that archipelago south-east of Celestia." "Shin huo ashi te muomi, hashi oi san?" "Yen is right", Beardface said, "we should consult Captain Wilbern first and then come up with a plan." The small group discussed the matter for a while longer. Decisions were to be made another day, apart from this one: they would go pirate hunting. OOC: I will join this AMCRA with a second hunting party. Their characters and assets will be introduced over different builds over the next week.

[COR] Celebrating Easter in Mesabi Landing
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Agreed, the Easter Fires I am used to see are much bigger. I lack the parts for something like that though, and building a fire of that size is nothing I would find interesting. For anybody interested: the Easter Fire article on Wikipedia even has a short video showing one of such fires in action. -
[COR - FB] Quinnsville Monument
Darnok replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great monument! It is quite a shame that @Tomsche has left the game, but commemorating him in this way is a nice nod to his legacy. I really like both the idea and the build! -
[SR-FB] Hydrographic exploring on Sabre Island
Darnok replied to Bart's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely build and a funny story, I do not envy poor James though! The story progression through the series of builds is really well done, especially the basecamp. My only suggestion for improvement would be some transparent "layer" on top of the water sections - but I do not know how easy that is to do in LDD. Overall a very fine build! Well, it is a scene at the beach. A beach comes with water, so of course a significant part of the build will be water. And it is not just "empty", you used it for an important part of your build, which would not have worked with less space. In my opinion this is a "proper" 48x48 build, I doubt anybod would complain. I think both of these would work. It could also be seen as an educational property, due to the scientific research going on. In my opinion this is a perfect start for a new settlement, go ahead! Absolutely no need to be sorry! I think this is the perfect approach to this game. Always build what you want to!- 13 replies

A lot of colourful eggs had been found in and around Mesabi Landing over the last days. It is early spring all over the Brick Seas, and while the winter is hardly noticable on Argentia, many of its citizens still celebrate customs from the Old World. Among them is a weaklong celebration around the Easter Fire. This fire stands as a symbol for the sun regaining its power and fighting off the winter cold. People dance around the fire to chase away the evil ice spirits, as well as welcome spring and summer. Another important part of the celebrations is to come together as a community, eat and drink, and plan for the new season together. In Mesabi Landing these celebrations take part on the beach. A huge fire has been lit - all that coal must be good for something - and has been burnign for days already. Dancing around the fire is popular with most minifgs... ... as is Gonzo Thompsons roasted chicken - all those recipes in the WTCM are his own, so of course he knows how to cook! Others prefer to sit together with a bit more quiet. Of course the Crablandians are invited and enjoy the festivities together with everybody else: . As you can see, some tke that "rabbit with eggs" thing maybe a bit too far. But as long as it is fun for everybody... Not all customs come from the old world though. Yen, an aventurer coming from the Gerlo Empire, gives a demonstration of the famous "Sword Dance": A bit away from the crows stood the Majors Bradley and Walsh and watched the scene - for once, they enjoyed their time in Mesabi Landing! ================================================================================================ Licensed as a medium art and culture property. Originally I wanted to use the Easter Fire idea in a second small easter-themed build (following the first one only a day later). But any halfway proper fire build took up almost all of the 16x16 plate already, so I decided to "upgrade" the build and add some more scenes to showcase a more involved festivity scene. This also gave me the opportunity not only to give a nod to @Kai NRG and his awesome Crablandia story, but to use a lot of minifigs for characters I want to use in the near future. My thanks go to both @Ayrlego and @Lord Buckethead for letting me use their characters in this build and story - Mesabi Landing might be a rough spot for the Crowns finest, but even for them sometimes it has its moments. As always, C&C are appreciated.

How is that "shoe part" called? I could not find it on Bricklink. -

A public transport system in Mesabi Landing? Why not! -
Correct. It is from the Knighton Castle set, look for the little robot butler.

We need no puny gods fart for that!

Wait, what? That is art! And culture!

Celestia’s Superb Orchid - Era II, Challenge I RESULTS POSTED
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I found your examples (Challenge IV indeed). The other one... no idea. A simple solution to avoid confusion in the future would be to state "required to activate: physical build of at least 8x8 in size or microbuild" for prize licenses.- 121 replies

MOC: Le Fleuron, 1729 third rate French ship of the line.
Darnok replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
What an awesome ship, well done! I love the combination of size with great details all over. I am not familiar with the build for your cannons, could you please provide some close-ups of one of them (or even a short instruction)?- 53 replies

A brilliant idea for a mine on that island! The mining part is perfect for what it is supposed to be, but I consider the secret chamber the true star here. Well included into the surrounding build, it is a great MOC of its own. The composition of trasure piles and open space (with the unlucky guardian ) is very well done. I hope not.

Surprisingly fast. Those two microbuilds are very nice, that Botanical Garden in particular. The choice of colours is great, and the trees are very well done. Lots of C-3PO running around though. The first build reminds me of those PC strategy games were you build properties and they get some sort of icon. This one looks just like that: a base of flowers, with a tree and a prominent bee hive standing out. Very nicely done. Neither a small plantation nor a microbuild though.

Great build, nice story. For some reason it says "small plantation" at the very top though... -
[COR WTC] WTC Monthly - Special Issue No.2
Darnok replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yeah, those damn bunnies. Bunnies are dangerous, everybody knows that! Maybe the Sea Mice should start a campaign to remove this threat once and for all? Carry the fight to the enemy I say, and wipe them all out. It would be glorious! Yes, yes you are. You are welcome. Corrington stands for progress, even if you do not like it. Those Oleanders rarely even read at all, except for some religious fairytale books maybe - I doubt they even grasp the concept of a college, let alone have one. -
I think it is really just an April Fool's joke.
-
No settlement updates. There should be "natural growth" for anything beyond Town status, but it is not yet showing up in the numbers.
-
Very nice! I assume the April one is the real deal? It is not.
