A Quick Start Guide to Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS)
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Did this one get lost below the roaring seas? I see an aweful lot of "WIP" posts from over half a year ago... what happened? If you could revive this: an introduction into "getting a ship/property" would be most welcome. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I get the impression that Sea Rats are currently vastly underrepresented, is that correct? There is a good chance I'll throw my hat into the ring for Corrington soon, but the Sea Rats are... starving? I might go that route instead... -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Darnok replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Looking good, even though I feel there is quite a lot missing without the water and the plants at the base. I need to see the rest of the build for final judgement of course. I plan to get the NC and build it "as is", with an additional intermediate building/plaza to connect it to the more "regular" modular buildings. That way I hope to keep 100% of the NC awesomeness, while also connecting it to the rest of my modulars. -
The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion

That is not an issue, since I planned to modify it anyway.- 897 replies

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Darnok replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I'm still overwhelmed by stuff I need to read, but from what I've gathered so far I'm tempted by Corrington. Would "born into a wealthy family, raised among books, now eager to explore the world and make a name for himself" be appropriate? After it got lost during my Dark Ages, I have recently re-aquired this beauty, which could serve as a ride into future adventures. Please note that I'm torn between this and the Sea Rats, any motivational help is appreciated.- 897 replies

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Darnok replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
The other 6 are exclusive to this set though. At least as far as we know for now. -
While it is a nice looking set with some great details and some awesome minifigures, this leaves me somewhat underwhelmed. It does not look like 3400 parts. Compare it to "Ninjago City". For 30€ more, you get six more minifigures, over 1400 more parts, and definitely more eyecandy and playvalue. I will get NC,as I feel I get my moneys worth with it. So far I'm not sure about JM though.

An excellent MOC for sure. I don't understand the "Rohan" reference though - to me this looks like a (great) generic medieval castle build. Nothing about it points towards LotR or Rohan for me. Apart from that: are there interiors to the buildings?

What minifigs are we missing - post your detailed suggestions here
Darnok replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
We are missing fat minifigures. I am really grateful what the last decade has given us for minifigures in terms of variety in age, gender and skin colour. You can represent a lot of things with minifigures that were simply not possible not that log ago. Having said that, I really miss variety when it comes to body shapes. Females are usually done by prints, kids and babies require certain molds. There is nothing when it comes to body shapes in the "overweight" area though. And to me that is a problem. You can think what you want about "fat" people, but they are a reality in societies all around the globe. There is nothing wrong with that, it is just the way things are. I wished LEGO would give me the option to represent that. -
Look what I just got - Report your latest Pirate LEGO acquisitions
Darnok replied to V()()D()()'s topic in LEGO Pirates
Among a few other Pirates sets I got over the last weeks, the most recent sticks out: the 6271 Imperial Flagship. I had this one as a kid, it was actually among my first bigger kits. It got lost during my Dark Ages, but I just had to get it back. So yeah, now I have a solid starting point to build something for my Redcoats. Of course I will modify the kit, but for now I'm just happy with this base to start from. :) -
Arr mateys, it is Talk Like A Pirate Day 2017! It seems even Batman is taking to the Seven Seas, to plunder and drink rum: Batman in full pirate regalia, aboard his trusted "Black Bat". Who needs more than one sail? Who needs cannons? He's Batman! It is a rather simple construction, aye. Loot is aplenty, and you need some room for your batarangs. So celebrate todays most piratey holiday, and may your rum bottle go never dry!

Interesting read, thanks for linking it here. You mentioned more pictures of yours (from St Croix) there, but the given Photobucket link responds with an error. Could you please check either that link or have a look wether those pictures are online at another place? Thanks in advance.

If you have any interest in the Lego Pirates line, you are familiar (or own) Eldorado Fortress. I wonder: on what historical resources is this set based on? I'm interested in pictures of real-world buildings close to EF or its building style. Any help is appreciated.

Very cool. The different colours definitely work well. Is there a crew, maybe with specialisations? Not "Bat-Trons", but visually different crew for each sub-vehicle - that would be awesome.

Beyond amazing! Not only does the house front look great, but the "mecha form" looks cool as well - and on top of that the transformation actually works! Great idea, excellent execution. Well done!

Assembly Square and Detective's Office both have very "alive" and detailed interiors. Both would be a good choice. Since nobody mentioned it so far: have a look at the Ninjago City kit. Even more details than the both mentioned above, great to look at from all four sides. It is not technically among the modular buildings, but works well on its own, and has plenty to look at and play with.
