Winners announced - Musicians Talent Fair [Mini-Challenge]
Darnok replied to Sir Stig's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A short technical question I would rather have answered in the open than in a PM. How free am I to interpret the "16x16 maximum size"? Two examples: A build on two 16x8 plates, connected by horizontal hinges. They can be folded into one compact 16x16 version, or be opened for a 32x8 diorama view. A build on two 16x8 plates, connected by pins. They can be "clicked" together to form one 16x16 build, or form two seperate 16x8 scenes. Which of these is okay? -
Excellent entry. Nice, clean and easy, but with a great idea and good fun. Well done!

Lovely ship! All around nice details, and it also looks very "playable", which is always a plus for me. I am curious how it looks under sails, and if there is any interior. By the way, there is a completely drama free subforum for all pirate things not-BotBS.

The Orchid Challenge had the approach of "one thread per entry", and I must say that worked pretty well. -

Yup, that is the one I was talking about. Some nice entries back then. I really appreciate this years wider scope in terms of categories, as well as the slightly looser restrictions. I think it gives more freedom to the builders and encourages more variety for entries - which is always good for a challenge I believe. -
[COR-FB-ML] Outdoor Sausage Smoker

Yes, the WTC loves its meaty bits! Clean little build, with excellent choice of faces - loving the sweaty coal dude! - in very in character for Mesabi Landing. Well done! -
[COR-FB-ML] Flying Fish Fountain
Darnok replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely little fountain. The "flowing water" is really well done, and the bits of surrounding landscape fit Mesabi Landing perfectly. To make this build the continuation of another story is a great idea! I have never thought about using that minifig face in the context of eating - clever! I will definitely steal borrow the idea. -
[COR - FB] Quinnsville Public Records Building
Darnok replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice! The black/white/grey and the different shades of brown work great together. I think it gives the building a rural feeling, but the clean architecture also makes clear the official status of it. The brickbuilt flag gives some meeded colour contrast. The "616" is a lovely detail indeed! The interior is equally well done, but could maaybe need a table and some chairs (for reading all those books). I wonder what the bottles and the guitar are about? An overall good build with a great supporting story. This is a great addition to Quinnsville, and you are doing a fine job in growing it again. -
A lot of work must have gone into this, great effort! Despite the lack of some details like the exct trade routes - which have to be omitted for good reasons - this is still very helpful. Definitely something to take into consideration for the next TMCRA! It would be interesting to see this kind of map for every month, to see how things develop over time. But this would be again a lot of work, and even this one installment is already highly appreciated. Good work!

Exploring Celestia, One Day at a Time

@Kai NRG You might want to hire the newest WTC "weaponsystem" for protection. I can not guarantee victory in battle, but it will be at least a decent distraction! -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Darnok replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@TitusV I hope you are the right person to ask here. I noticed that in the Settlement Index the link for Quinnsville still leads to the old thread, instead of the new one. In short: please replace the link with the new Quinnsville settlement thread: Thanks in advance! -

Maybe a silly question, but I only found a MTF for 2016. Was there one last year, and if so: where can I find it? -
Nice, nice indeed! Bringing both Agnes and Mordo back in style, I appreciate it. Agnes's personal dock has been done well, good use of those pearl-gold pieces and the lanterns. Calling it "royal" is just appropriate I guess! Who is that mysterious passenger though? P.S.: Where is that black musket from?

Thanks. There is actually one genuinely new build here: the small pier. Technically a 32x16 footprint it is of course neither actually that size nor spectacular on its own. It is meant to work with the tavern build though, and you seemingly even did not notice it - so my plan kind of worked!

Lovely idea, and the concept looks sound (pun intended). Expect some WTC shenanigans! -
This one has shown up in a variety of threads already. For licensing purposes, a thread of its own for a class 1 gunboat, the WTC Green Viper: . As always, C&C are appreciated.

So the second team sailed from Mesabi Landing. Two ships, one goal: the Glimmering Archipelago. Mary-Anne Faust had taken command of the smaller WTC Green Viper. The waters around the Glimmering Archipelago were treacherous, so her smaller boat approached the island first, finding a safe spot to land. They made landfall without problems, and started unloading. Soon the WTC Drunken Dragon would follow, so they could start exploring the island... ====================================================================================== OOC: I am joining this WTC AMCRA. I will add 10 troops and two ships (WTC Drunken Dragon, class 2; WTC Green Viper, class 1) to the Pirate Hunt. My team will search island #20 (the Glimmering Archipelago) this turn. Dramatis personae: @Mesabi will do the AMCRA licensing.

Thank you! Your build is of course just as welcome now as it was before. -

I can proudly announce: Mesabi Landing is the first Large City of Corrington! It is - and always will be - the first Corrish settlement to have reached this size and status. I want to thank all builders who contributed, but most of all @Mesabi without whom this would not have been possible. We did not need some flower expedition. We will not waste our citizens hard earned tax doubloons on silly balls. We will work for an even brighter future! For the historians: This goal has been reached. Once our glorious Count Mesabi returns from his expedition to the South he will without doubts have even greater goals in mind already!- 33 replies

Captain Wilbern and his crew came together after the aquisition of another ship needed for their mission. "And I tell you, that stupid riddle is all about..." Beardface shouted, but was swiftly interrupted by the Captain. . "Listen here, guys and gal. We are sailing to the Glimmering Archipelago. I believe it fits the riddles description perfectly. I will take the WTC Drunken Dragon with most of the equipment, and Mary-Anne will take the WTC Green Viper to support us with more firepower and troops. As we speak both ships are loaded already. Mackie has asked us to give a new invention a field test - and so it will happen. Now get up, we have pirates to hunt. And somebody get Chewy on board!" And so they left Tuber Tavern, curiously watching Mackies experiment getting hauled to the ships. The small pier the ships were docked at was full of equipment still to be loaded. Most importantly: explosives. Because as everybody in the WTC knows: if explosives do not solve your problem, you are not using enough explosives! . .
