I’ve seen many renditions of ‘the Hall that thinks it’s a Castle’ over the years as well as the real thing and this is a brilliant one. Great work @EWay on this excellent MOC! Particularly as your first steam locomotive…

Has anybody heard anything further about the rumoured expert-level Hogwarts Express?

Very nice @Wenzo! How a western train ought to be in my mind... @JopieK would it be advisable to move this thread to the Train Tech (I know it's you who can do that)? The feedback there will probably be far more as it's a bunch of train obsessives like myself!

[ART MOC] Roy Lichtenstein's 'Girl with Hair Ribbon'
Vilhelm22 replied to jp-30's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fantastic! It's great to see what people have done with ART since the first releases. I remember back in my school days having to copy a picture of Roy Liechtenstein's 'In The Car' - took me a few hours but I was really proud of it. When I can finally afford it, you may have inspired me to do something similar.... -
Man - you really got my hopes up there!!!

Considering how much I make use of my local one I'd definitely be up for that. My wallet is endangered by three things: LEGO, Scalextric, and vinyl.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I had a soft spot for 60050 but that may just have been because it contained my first sausage. If nothing else the new station is a good set for vehicles and a parts pack for a station MOC. We haven't had a MOW vehicle since the red cargo train in 2011 -
I still want a chairswing but obviously that's not going to happen this year. I wonder how large this is gonna be as they're always trying to go bigger and better right now. I'm looking forward to its hopefully imminent unveiling - I'd hope for green track maybe? The Dragon at the Legoland resorts has green track and it might look good like that. I'd also like possibly more than one lift in it so it's not just a single gravity drop track.

Good to see you back here @Commander Wolf! That's an impressive locomotive - you've packed a lot of detail into a small space on both and they look great side-by-side! Your handiwork is definitely an excellent reason for lack of presence on here recently! Approx. how many pieces would you say they include each at this level of detail?

I think they may be fixed in place at the ends. Anyway nice work on an iconic bridge and welcome @Guts 24! Mais, en general, nous parlons en anglais ici. (Sorry I had to practise my French there)

Just seen various posts on Instagram and on Promobricks Apparently this year we will be getting another Creator Expert 18+ Car 10304 Chevrolet Camaro Z 28 USD$159.99 / EUR€159.99 / GBP£1??.99 1456 pieces My personal thoughts are that honestly I’d like a different more interesting curvy car rather than another American one, but we’ll wait and see how this one plays out.

True. Splashed out a lot last year but now saving for travel funds instead. You get the reference though right?
-
It’s not a toy. Actually, it’s a highly sophisticated interlocking brick system.

I’ve been wanting this ever since the return of HP - I will almost certainly be picking this one up.

Well I'd definitely impulse buy another train. Yes definitely. I'd almost like them to abolish the trains theme itself altogether and have trains in all sub themes. There have been various public transport setts in the past - make a theme - the same for cargo sets. Airport trains for both passenger and cargo could work - a revamped airport shuttle train would be amazing. On the point of realism, my favourite train is definitely the crocodile (I don't have Maersk, EN, or HE). I don't see why there can't be more.

Very nice renditions of official Brio trains @XG BC! I recognise all of these actually, as my significantly younger brother was collecting at the same time and he owned this set right here ^. I used to build layouts for him from our extensive Brio collection, though I think I enjoyed it more as I'm still a train-loving kid at heart....

Yes - LEGO has just leaked something showing it will be announced soon. The Brickset article shows it here.

@Klaus-Dieter I'd suggest making this thread a more general discussion one rather than just 2021, as we're now into 2022 and it's only 3 pages, so isn't going to overflow like the licensed and City threads. Just an idea though, though I've started a few more minority interest threads labelled 'Rumours and Discussion'.

Well I've got the minifig one from the Corner Garage so I'll be able to put them side by side :)
-
I was wondering the same... @JopieK? I know you're the train mod so I'm guessing you know the answer.... By the way I've added the new train to the first post.

I think another level crossing and station are highly likely, this being the case. Did you not get 7938 from 2010? That had a brick built nose.
-
We knew they'd retire following the pattern started in 2006, but possibly unlike some here I wasn't aware of quite when - so good to know the date. Also, for those interested, at least in the UK Main Square is on 30% off at Shop@Home, from £170 down to £119. If you want the tram and don't have it now may be the time - at retail it's heavily overpriced and isn't a particularly good set, so the tram is the only really desirable part.

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
Vilhelm22 replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Yes - the wider the radius of a curve, the less likely derailing is. The chances of train derailing on Michael's future R156 curves will be insanely low. LEGO's R40 curves might as well have been made for derailments - you can't even take most official Lego trains around at speed without them derailing. Compare that to the grand curves on the PennLUG layout... -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
My dream D2C set would be the Hogwarts Express, done in an expert style, with at least two coaches, and Hogsmeade or Kings Cross station. You could do something beautiful with those. I'm a train fan anyway, and knew that all previous ones have been very inaccurate, but seeing 5972 Olton Hall, known more often as Hogwarts Castle (or amongst British train fans, the Hall that thinks it's a Castle (2 GWR classes of steam locomotive were the Hall class, and the Castle, with each locomotive being named xxx Hall or xxx Castle) as just increased my anger. The Hogwarts Express deserves a better representation, and it's also a set from four years ago now. Also, the chances of a $469.99 Gringotts are very slim.
