Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion

Yes definitely. I picture it to be more like that Chinese New Year Meal set a couple of years back, but two stories in terms of size. -
Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks @Clone OPatra! This will make things a lot easier. Also - could you do the same thing for the Train Tech Train sets general topic? Only 10 pages this year after all. Yes, I see you a lot in those threads so I know exactly how you feel. For Chinese New Year modulars, I’d like to see a Chinese restaurant similar in style to the entrances of 80107. Maybe the guy with the food in 80107 could have got it from the restaurant? I’d also like a market, though I realise this was done recently. -
I’m really sorry if I sounded so angry - I just wanted to try and help, and I’m sorry I seemed angry to you. I completely understand your thought process now - my first response was because there are people who create an account here specifically to ask for instructions for another person’s MOC. I, and the vast majority of users on here, do not like this. But you are different. I look forward to seeing you present your MOCs on here soon! Kind regards and enjoy your MOCing, Vilhelm22 Also apologies to @Commander Wolf for saying all this in your thread created to display your MOC.

The one thing I will say is that no set was ever numbered 60199 - evidence that a station was planned for 2018 and cancelled at the last minute.

There are now 4 train sets that are set to be retired at the end of 2021/early 2022. As well as the City trains on their 4 year cycle, the Crocodile is set to be retired after only 18 months on the market. However, Stonewars.de specifically states that of the D2Cs set to be retired, this and Pirates of Barracuda Bay are the most likely candidates for extension (the Saturn V was set to retire and has been extended so it's not impossible). The fourth set is the Disney Train and Station, whilst the castle is still being sold - it didn't sell particularly well and received a lot of complaints around here I seem to remember (though it was 2019 and I haven't bought it myself). As a result it was heavily discounted during the Black Friday 2019 sales, and is therefore being discontinued now. Not a specific train set, but the current City town square set (which includes that decidedly average tram) with its ridiculous price is being discontinued as well - according to Stonewars.de it is on their list of D2Cs retiring the worst selling of the lot and a well deserved retirement which is pretty damning. I can't remember from previous years - was there a short gap or short overlap between the city train sets?
-
Thanks - didn't realise that though it was slightly before my time so it was an assumption in the first place (though I missed the Horizon Express by a whisker which still really annoys me. I've seen from the YouTuber Briq Foundation's coverage of retiring sets on Stonewars.de, that though 10277 Crocodile Locomotive is set to be retired at the end of this year, it may well be extended, having sold incredibly well (it was sold out for months, and it was even on backorder when I bought it in January, 6 months after release). The rerelease of the Saturn V was also set to retire, and has been extended so it's not impossible that this will be too.

Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion

These sets are built for their looks and not the experience. Owning the Taj Mahal, that's something I know very well! But it's worth it with the stunning results you get.- 259 replies

Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
As expected, it’s now been confirmed on Stonewars.de that the 2021 sets are being discontinued. Apparently 80107 has been one of the bestselling sets among AFOLs in 2021. For next year’s sets, I’d like a continuation of the modular type sets to go with 80107. I’d also like (though I highly doubt it will happen) a new model to put in place of the ox in 80107 for the new zodiac figure - what is it in 2022? Also, on a side note, @Klaus-Dieter I suggest you change this to a general Chinese New Year Rumours and Discussion thread like the Modulars thread and the CE buildings thread - that way we can seamlessly move from 2021-2022. I find it irritating in City and Speed Champions that there are 2021 and 2022 threads, and a lot of cross discussion so you have to read two threads. Just an idea though. -
Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion

Maybe if you buy it from Camp Nou itself - I know that 10234 Sydney Opera House was available at the real place, and the same for Tower Bridge.- 259 replies

Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hahaha just came here to post the same thing! It’s enormous! Also, at 5509 pieces, it’s the third largest landmark ever behind Colosseum and Taj Mahal. It’ll be the 8th largest set ever, behind World Map, Colosseum, Millennium Falcon, Hogwarts Castle, Taj Mahal, Ninjago City Gardens, and Diagon Alley, 4 of which have at some stage been the world’s largest Lego set.- 259 replies

@Union Pacific Productionz Not to push you away - you’re very welcome here - but there are two unwritten (or possibly written I can remember the Ts and Cs exactly having been here 4 years) rules: 1. Don’t bring up old topics not replied to in years - exceeding 2 years is generally too long. 2. Don’t ask for instructions or internal photos - if they have provided them that’s a bonus, but don’t ask for them. I’m really not trying to push you away - I just want to help you and these are just two things that are generally unpopular on Eurobricks.

Sorry - I thought I specified - as I’m talking about 18+ slots, I meant the Emerald Night, Maersk Train, and Horizon Express (2009, 2011, 2013). Trust me I’m aware of the city ones, owning every city set from the 2010 and 2014 waves. But as an Expert train clearly isn’t coming this year, unless it’s 10296, that means WV won’t be cancelled. Really good point there which makes perfect sense - hadn’t thought about that at all. Back to WV though, JediJacPenguin has confirmed there will be one this year. Also, with the leak of the recoloured 10271 Fiat 500, I wonder if there could be any WV recolours? Though imho I think it would only work on the included vehicles like in WVPO and WVS.

Press Release: 76391 Harry Potter Hogwarts Icons Collectors
Vilhelm22 replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not gonna lie I was expecting the ‘Icons Collection’ to be a series of sets, so I’m disappointed it isn’t. I would very happily buy an 18+ version of the iconic Hogwarts Express. If it’s not now, it’s got to be coming in the relatively near future. However, I still think this looks like an amazing set, but the choice of Hedwig as the main feature I consider stupid as we already have a smaller version, like @MAB said. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yes - you can’t get beds up staircases when there’s a person in them. I’m also wondering - Fiat 500 is getting a recolour - could modulars get that too? I’d like to see that on CC, GG, PS, and BS if it did, as the most realistic recolours in my opinion. -
Yeah I saw that yesterday on BriqFoundation’s YouTube channel. It’s a beautiful colour to redo it in but I’m still very confused why.
-
18 months isn’t long. However, I don’t believe any previous Expert trains were sold concurrently. I think the 2 year pattern may return, with one set not going up to the next release like before.
-
@mouseketeer’s MOCs are brilliant. Would love to see some of his ideas but LEGO versions of the sets - please note I would only support the taking of a set title but not the whole idea.

[MOC] 10277 Crocodile Locomotive Alternative Build
Vilhelm22 replied to Inyongbricks's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Beautiful, ingenious alternate build. The pieces used in trains and the hugely differing shapes of trains makes train alternate builds generally very hard to create and this is excellently executed.- 4 replies

Wow thanks for the quick reply! It wasn't a paint scheme I recognised, though admittedly I'm British so knowledge is less. It's good to know that they're bathrooms as that means I can go ahead with that process. I don't know if you own any modulars but Corner Garage shows a good example of how to build a toilet in a small space on the top floor - a simple design I'm planning on copying at least in part. In a first draft of my MOC on Studio I managed to fit a toilet and sink into a 3x4 space using this design. Maybe you can fit one in that way?
-
This piece of information is actually immensely helpful in terms of minimum curve - I'm planning on building some 80 stud long coaches so similar length and need therefore to know the track I need for it. Out of interest is it based on any particular train? Also, I feel I should know, but what are the white grilles? Are those toilets?
-
Thank god for that

Definitely one of the best buses I’ve seen! Brilliant MOC - well done! Hahahaha I always think of you as ‘the bus guy‘ on here so I understand that completely. Didn’t help that your profile pic was for some time a bus...

This will put a dampener on things - the IDEAS Home Alone House is set to come out late September, with a considerably reduced price of $100. This is unfortunately around the WV price point, and late September could be the VIP release with October 1st main release - implying it may be being treated as the WV set for this year. I still have my hopes up though - I also imagine LEGO would cause serious unpopularity was this the case. When have we found out about WV sets in the past?
-
Thinking about it, in the last 6 years we've only got one normal WV set which works by itself and fits in properly. Santa's Workshop, Gingerbread House and Elf Clubhouse are all fantasy - and thought they kind of fit in, I've always considered the train and station kind of separate - you can't have one without the other realistically. This only leaves the Fire Station. it's definitely time for another like the Bakery or the Post Office.

This is looking truly amazing! I’m extremely jealous... How long a locomotive can you fit?
