The title tells you my question. I've been on here more than five years, and though I've started numerous discussion threads across the various fora, I still haven't made and posted a single MOC. However, as I'm gradually starting to look into things, I'm interested to know - what colour sleeper do you guys think are best? The colours of tiles I see regularly are light bluish grey, reddish brown, black, and occasionally dark brown (though I believe this one is more expensive). Does anybody who's had experience with any of them recommend a particular colour? If it has any impact, I'm looking at building a terminus station. Best, William (Vilhelm22) @JopieK I just noticed I put this in the wrong forum - could you please relocate it to the Train Tech?

Very nice and unusual MOC! I actually like it best in the last photo, where I can imagine it as a wall mounted sign in a classroom. LEGO can be really good for maths and people have made some really interesting things - someone on LEGO Masters USA made a Fibonacci sequence tower. I personally would have the numbers reading clockwise as I at least find it easier to read that way - starting at 9 o'clock and going to 12, then 3 etc., but really it's what you think is best! Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Is there any rumour of a 2023 freight train in the vein of 3677 Red Cargo Train in 2011 and 60098 Heavy Haul Train in 2015? 2018’s trains with an absence of train station was reversed in 2022 - I’m wondering if this might happen again here and have a new freight train later in the year? -

Icons Landmark Buildings - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes, I agree there. It would be great to see my home stadium brought to life - which I pass every week on my way up to London on the train! Probably actually the only stadium I've got any interest in and would buy as I'm not that interested in the sport. If they're going to do a non-football stadium then what I'd really like to see is Wimbledon's Centre Court with the retractable roof, that turned 100 years old last year (though has been very heavily expanded from a simple court in 1922 to the nearly 15,000 seat court it is now).- 259 replies

Welcome to the Train Tech @cor82 and @NilsvN! I'm not a user of the PFx Bricks, but from what I've read elsewhere, no. Michael's been focusing on the release of the new Fx Track range, which is new 9v track, taking Lego to a model railway standard, and the development of the P40 switches, controllers and motor bogeys have taken a lot of time - not helped by their manufacturers being in Hong Kong and COVID in China recently has been chaos. You can see the fairly extensive discussion thread for this range of products here: I'm sure software updates will come, but it's not Michael's main priority right now. Hope this helps. Vilhelm22

Has anyone build a base plate anchored train spiral?
Vilhelm22 replied to Afolomus's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Also how much space are you allowing at the base? Are you doing R40s only or can you go bigger? At an extreme (though I realise basically nobody has space for this in their personal layout) scale, Monty Smith in the LGMS Facebook group proposed an R120 spiral, with 1 brick/segment. Of course by going for larger radius you can a) reduce the gradient allowing for smoother ascent/descent with less power required or b) reduce the number of spirals. The totally nuts option would be to use flex track! -
Monty Smith (aka Monty’s Trains) in the USA has a particular impressive opening one which you may be interested in - the LGMS Facebook group is probably the place to find him, or Instagram. I’m in the UK but follow him - contacting him via Instagram or Facebook messenger shouldn’t be difficult.

Fx Bricks (Michael Gale) announces Fx Track system
Vilhelm22 replied to HoMa's topic in LEGO Train Tech
For those to whom it applies (such as myself), Fx Track is now available in the UK from Techbrick (which also sells Trixbrix, SBrick and others): https://www.techbrick.co.uk/ -
It's rumoured $199.99 rather than the normal $119.99, which is bizarre, particularly considering there aren't even enough pieces to make a standard 48x48 set (2304 studs) - it's rumoured to have just 2099 pieces. I think @MAB might well be right here - 'falsifying' discounts. My usual source is JediJacPenguin, which is where I got this information - he's usually right but I suppose it's possible it that this time he's not.

Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I’m not saying it’s a CITY wave - I was thinking it might be a revamp of Juniors, with various basic sets linked with multiple themes (CITY, Disney, Marvel, DC, Friends etc). My thought process was that there might be fewer 4+ sets in CITY as they’d be ‘relocated’ to the Juniors theme. I’m not really thinking additions to CITY - more that these CITY 4+ sets might stop appearing. This set was one of several CITY- themed sets from the Juniors range back in 2014, along with various Friends and Marvel/DC sets with a 4+ target, all under the Juniors theme rather than split up between the main CITY, Friends, Disney themes they are now. I’m just thinking this might be reintroduced, meaning that 4+ sets under the CITY branding would stop as they’d have been relocated to Juniors if it returns. Obviously it’s pure speculation at this point, but I guess it’s less a rumour of what will be in CITY and more what won’t be. -
Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Nah that’s not the same thing - that’s all 76xxx. Also this is code name Sparkle, not Lemon, so they’re two separate things. This info was on the main AFOLs Facebook page - it was clearly new news today. It’s also on JediJacPenguin which I consider to be the best source of leaks and rumours so 99% sure this is a separate thing. -
Lego City 2023 Leaks, Rumours, Speculation And Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
So little is known about it I can’t confirm it’s CITY but I found a rumour in a Facebook group: New theme: Sparkle 10785: 58 pieces 10786: 130 pieces 10787: 130 pieces 10788: 497 pieces All sets 4+ Personally, I’m pleased to see an all 4+ series again. The sets being 4+ within series (take the recent CITY Wildlife sets for example) has really let things down recently in my opinion, where a set has been effectively wasted - compare the Wildlife Rescue ‘river scene’ set 60301 to the Jungle Exploration equivalent 60160 from 2017. Looking at various 107xx sets in order on Brickset, they’re all Juniors/4+ so hopefully it’s a return to this (far more suitable imho) style. 10781-4 and 10789-91 are “Spidey and his Amazing Friends” so it slots in that gap perfectly. Though these sets themselves may not be CITY, I’m wondering if the 4+ sets have been taken from the main themes (which include CITY) and returned to a revamped Juniors/4+ only theme? -
You could however, fix that problem using a technic brick 1x1x1 as a replacement for the headlight brick on the right.

Fair point. Hadn’t thought of that whoops. However I’d say 1 L is better than 2 M if you’re only looking at that power level. My solutions may not be the best on here - I’m aware that some people here are far more experienced than me!
-
I’ll be blunt, my experience is very little, but I’ve found if you can go larger, go larger, even if with fewer motors - so if you can fit 2 large then I’d definitely do that, and 1 may be enough. It also obviously depends on what it’s pulling - if you’re pulling a long heavy train it’s going to need more power! It may also be worth noting that train motors are designed to have a far higher RPM - the PU train motor’s RPM is 1760 and the L motor’s is only 315.
-
Actually saw this on Monty’s Instagram (which I follow along with so many other AFOLs, despite being English) first and was amazed by it - didn’t look at who made it but knew it wasn’t him. Amazing talent you’ve got here - I’m absolutely stunned. Did you just make one and gave it away or have you got a couple for yourself as well?

Botanical Collection - Rumours and Discussion
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The first 2023 Botanical Collection sets, released on February 1st, have been leaked now with box art: 10313 Wild Flower Bouquet - 956 pieces - $59.99/€59.99/£54.99 10314 Dried Flower Centrepiece - 812 pieces - $49.99/€49.99/£44.99 10313 definitely interests me far more than 10314 - maybe 10314 would look good on a wall?- 137 replies

Great to see the derelict station in more detail - I’m even more amazed than I was from the photos on Facebook. I love that abandoned locomotive so much as it’s just something so different from everyone else. You’ve definitely hit the LLMTC ‘standard’ as well in my opinion. P.S. In case you’ve not figured out, I’m the one calling it your ‘signature’ locomotive in a couple of Facebook comments….
-
Yes I agree - recently it’s been every 2-3 months I think. The only time I can think of that Ideas sets were released at the same time was when the Ship In A Bottle and Saturn V were both rereleased - but that hardly counts. I agree with @Matt Dawson on the release date being around then - it gives them at least a year to either make it amazing or to completely ruin it. I don’t know for sure, but a lot of recent occurrences actually directly linked with TLG I think have shown how much of a failure the Hogwarts Express has really been.

[OcTRAINber MOC] LMS Articulated Railcar (1938)
Vilhelm22 replied to Hod Carrier's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@Hod Carrier HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!!! I’ve been watching this thread very closely throughout its development, and have been impressed from the beginning. Being a Brit myself, I’m always intrigued by any unusual locomotive, and this in both its forms is I think a prime example of this. You’ve designed it perfectly at the right scale, with an amazing amount of detail, using very interesting angles and ideas - I fully agree with the judging panel at BMR that you are a very well deserved winner. Huge congrats again, and thank you for such an informative and interesting story to go along with it. Very jealous of your prize as well - these two will look amazing going through those R104 switches… Best, Vilhelm22 -
Well, @Ts__, clearly you have shown your genius again. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Your steam locomotives are some of the best I’ve seen, and the streamlined BR05-003 is no different. Brilliant work, and a very well deserved win. Best, Vilhelm22
