Are the HA Bricks roller bearings good quality? In Britain obtaining the BrickTracks and BMR ones are pretty expensive to obtain and HA Bricks is closer to home.

[OcTRAINber MOC] LMS Articulated Railcar (1938)
Vilhelm22 replied to Hod Carrier's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Fantastic choice @Hod Carrier - a British prototype I never previously knew of. A shame it was one of a kind and scrapped, as it’s definitely noteworthy and therefore would today be considered ‘preservation material’ but oh well. At least we have the GWR diesel railcar in the NRM at York. There are some very difficult curves in this design as @XG BC points out, and you’ve realised them really well. I’m looking forward to seeing this come to life over the next couple of months! -
MOCs: Models of trains running in Hungary
Vilhelm22 replied to Ashi Valkoinen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Very nice as usual @Ashi Valkoinen! I love seeing all these prototypes so accurately built. My cousin lives in Budapest half the year, but I basically never go because they live in England the rest of the year and my house is halfway between the airport and theirs. Hopefully I’ll go one day though - but once in the last 15 years isn’t a fantastic start. -
Even if the new Hogwarts Express doesn’t fit on L-Gauge track, I think the one thing we can say is that XXL wheels now exist and I’m wondering whether they were produced solely for this set, or with future purpose elsewhere.
-
I may participate this year, but only digitally. Couple of quick questions: 1) I modelled a coach thinking it was real but turns out that paint scheme didn’t exist, only fictionally as an H0 model - is this unenterable? 2) In a digital model, do all the pieces have to exist in that colour in real life? Could I for example use dark red seats, despite that part not being produced in dark red? 3) Where would I enter a digital full consist? Say I was entering a full LNER Coronation service digitally, or something similar from elsewhere?

Topic updated in the description regarding the new set

Like everyone else here, I’m impressed…..but disappointed. It looks amazing, but why couldn’t it be standard gauge? On the subject of blind drivers, I’d like to remind people of how the large drivers come packaged. They are F-B-F, all connected as one piece, which you then split up into the three wheels by pulling apart. I obviously can’t guarantee it, but the new ones could easily be packaged similarly.

Sorting Custom Parts in Stud.io
Vilhelm22 replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
A shame but I guess good to know. Crossing my fingers for an update with this in the future! -
All very nice! I've got the aeroplane for which you used the parts in the first train, and it certainly makes it look extremely sleek! I've seen several MOCs using those parts but yours is by far the best I've seen. Those 6 wide versions also look extremely nice - like others on here, I particularly like the one using the helicopter nose. I was rebuilding a set using exactly that piece just the other day....
-
I've not been able to find a topic on this precise issue, so I've started a new topic. I've added a fairly large number of custom parts to my Stud.io at this point, which I use on a fairly regular basis. However, within the custom parts palette, I'd like individual folders (like bricks, plates, etc in the master). I don't want to make a whole new palette, as I'd end up with several tiny ones I don't need. Just as a few examples, I've got wheels, tracks, and couplers, all of which are currently in one long untidy list. There's probably a way of doing this and I may be being an idiot, but help would be appreciated.

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Vilhelm22 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Big Ben Bricks has the files on their website. Elsewhere, HA Bricks has solid and boxpok driver files as well - I believe they intend to start producing them later this year. http://www.bigbenbricks.com/ldraw/ldraw.html https://www.habricks.com/product-categorie/wheels/ The other railway related studio files I have (if you’re looking for anything else) are custom steam rods at Trained Bricks, knuckle couplers at BMR Shop, and wide radius curves and switches at Bricktracks. Many of these designers are on this forum if you look around, should you want them. I find all of these parts incredibly useful in Studio. https://trainedbricks.square.site/digital-resources https://brickmodelrailroader.shop/products/knuuckle-coupler-ldraw-studio-cad-files https://www.bricktracks.com/resources Hope this helps. That is a beautiful and immensely impressive locomotive there! It took me quite a long time to work out it wasn’t LEGO, particularly with it not being L-gauge. Huge congrats on such a masterpiece of a MOC - and, in my opinion, worth the two years you’ve spent on it!

A review of the first elements from the FX Track system
Vilhelm22 replied to zephyr1934's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Have we any idea when this will actually be? I'm guessing nowhere near now but is there any idea of the timeline of events from now on following what I'm assuming will be the fairly imminent release of these products.- 199 replies

He’s German and I can’t understand anything he’s saying because I don’t speak it but I watch it for the pictures - STEINeZEIT on YouTube. https://youtube.com/c/STEINeZEIT Bevins Bricks has already been mentioned which is another fantastic one. I don’t know if you consider this to be custom or not, but some people ‘blow up’ the modulars - buying several and combining them to create a much larger, more impressive buildings. Bricks4Chris and Hoosier Bricks were experts at this but both seem to have deleted their channels - this Beyond The Brick video is the only evidence I can currently find: The first part is less impressive but the giant GE, PC, CG, BB, and AS in the latter part of the video are pretty impressive imho.

WIP Portland's Union Station (Or)(will be 2 year project)
Vilhelm22 replied to Barduck's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Looking amazing as it continues. Even if not completely realistic, I can’t wait to see your City of Denver compared - are any side by side shots possible right now? Also, if I’m ever looking for tan 1x2 bricks or dark red 1x2 plates, clearly I know now who to blame…. -
I’ve been watching BW Chicago vlogs a lot the past week and your consist has really stood out in many of these. Bricksie (big Lego YouTuber) thought your train was beautiful if you’re interested - though I corrected somebody in the comments section who said it was SP 4449 rather than a P-10…

Now THAT'S what I calla proper train layout! And yes, like @HoMa says, it looks perfect running through it as the landscape is just what's needed. Fantastic work - every picture of this train I see you seem to have outdone yourself further.

What’s the track? Is it like @Masao Hidaka’s ones? He’s the expert on here for sure. This thread should be helpful:

Great to see it there! Unfortunately I can't get there myself, but one day..... Will you be running it on the LGMS layout? I'll probably be seeing quite a lot of photos of that considering the various things that I follow outside of EB as well as on here.

Very nice rendition of a classic locomotive @Vendral24 and welcome to Eurobricks! A very commonly done MOC, but an excellent version (I've seen some amazing and some absolutely horrendous ones and yours is on the amazing end!). Class A4 4468 Mallard is still one of my favourite locomotives and always will be - I've seen it on more than one occasion when visiting the National Railway Museum in York. On the stickers front, there are several people out there who print stickers specially for people's MOCs at their request - others will be more helpful in this regard - and you might also be interested in @zephyr1934 at Trained Bricks's piston rods for your personal real life MOC (though I realise this won't work in Ideas as unofficial Lego parts). One final point - I can see from your profile that you're from Australia. It may therefore be of interest to you that also in the same livery, another of the A4s (not preserved) was named Commonwealth of Australia. Five locomotives were selected to pull the Coronation service, named after different parts of the British Empire - the Dominion of Canada (preserved), Union of South Africa (preserved), Empire of India (scrapped), Dominion of New Zealand (scrapped), and Commonwealth of Australia (scrapped). For your own personal MOC, that may be of interest to you, but 4468 Mallard will be more successful on Ideas than 60012 Commonwealth. I believe the nameplate for 60012 is still in York preserved.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned here but Bricksie (Jordan) pointed out on his YouTube channel that the track spells out LOOP. The drop into the first loop is like an L The loops themselves are the Os The curve out of the second loop, round and back into the entrance platform is shaped like a P.

Very impressed! I didn’t expect it to be anything like as good, and they’ve done well to make one different from the original. Obviously there are new track pieces as well which are a bonus, and recolours, and I’m pleased to see its got the Fairground Collection branding. Presumably there’s a chain up the tower for the motorised mechanism. I don’t think we’ve ever got a hot dog stand before so that’s also new. One disappointment in my eyes is that there’s only one train but there’s not space for a siding like on the other so in a way I’m not that surprised. I like the word LOOP on the tower as well, particularly the Os. I can count 11 people total so I think that’s 1 fewer than the 2018 set but not a problem for me. Hopefully we won’t get the same issue as Mark and Boone on LEGO Masters USA S1E1.

I’ll miss Tube Map Central, particularly as a Brit like myself who clearly must live fairly close by some stuff he’s posted. Leaving with a salty reply as said above is definitely not the way to go though, and definitely doesn’t help his ‘dying forum’ hypothesis. Unfortunately a similar message was posted in the general forum over a like button idea, and there have appeared to be several other rather salty posts by him recently, so that aspect I won’t miss him for, however he’s a great MOCer and this community is really there for this purpose. However if you can’t be nice about it then you shouldn’t stay. I vaguely see what he means but on the other hand those people have appeared and disappeared. I joined nearly 5 years ago having stalked as a guest user for a year and it’s been up and down - I personally haven’t noticed any particular lull/death. I rather think of it as levels of normal and high activity rather than normal and low, though I try to be a glass half full type person when I can. I wholeheartedly agree with the positive replies on here, however, and as a great community I hope we won’t be losing any of the rest of you anytime soon. My activity is nearly all in the Train Tech, so losing you guys would be a sad day for many of us.

WIP Portland's Union Station (Or)(will be 2 year project)
Vilhelm22 replied to Barduck's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Very nice @Barduck! I always love people’s models of these beautiful, vast stations - how I like to think stations should be. It’s a dream of mine to do something like this one day and I hope to do so eventually… On a side note, you might want to specify that it’s Portland Oregon rather than Portland Maine - I believe both are the largest cities in their respective states, but Portland Maine is significantly smaller. -
Fantastic cars with your fantastic locomotive @zephyr1934! I was wondering - how do you get such a small indentation with the doors? I’ve been using jumper plates, but these give more indent than I want so I’d be interested to see your solution.
