It's not like spinoffs to JoTW are new , not even in the "West" One of the better known anime/tv show being Dragon Ball. But also many video game references, League of Legends/Dota (Monkey King character), Diablo 3 (Monk set), Overwatch (Event/Skins), Pokémon (Chimchar/Pignite and evolutions), and many more.

Lambo is fantatstic, blocky, but that's fine, its still LEGO and a retro car, those rims (printed round tiles I assume?) complete the look- 488 replies

Direct link the image url with the image type which ends in usually .jpg .png .jpeg (rightclick Copy Image Adress) , instead of copy link adress (which usually links to an imgur gallery instead of direct image) I saw your link in the technic page. Instead of using the imgur page : https://imgur.com/a/poMcyad Use direct image link https://i.imgur.com/c5LSLDb.jpeg Which then Automaticly embeds (double click can also resize the embed as I did here, still clickable for full size)

LEGO Creator 2022 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TeriXeri's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Only thing I can find on those is that Bricklink now calls them : New York Postcard (summer release) Beijing Postcard (summer release) -
Yeah I looked it up, Trans Bright-Orange (Brickset/LEGO name ID182) is the same as Trans-Orange (Bricklink name ID98)
-
It's regular Trans-orange but it looks a bit saturated in the product photos with the kids.
-
So the discussed rumours a while back in the Color thread ended up being true.
-
Something Ice planet would be nice for sure , the torsos are a good start. Brickset lists Trans-Neon Orange as Retired ? https://brickset.com/colours/status-Retired/type-Transparent , but that's probably only because there have been no parts for 2022, and the 2020/2021 sets with it have retired. Trans neon-orange is one of my favorite colors (I just recently sorted my transparent spare parts into a transparent sorting case) and in normal daylight, the neon orange, neon green, bright green just have this extra glow to it. Nexo Knight and later first wave of 2020 Monkie Kid used that color heavily, but after 2021 (1 snowflake part in story of nian) , it hasn't been used since. I'd be sad if LEGO did something ice planet with trans-orange, just isn't the same. As for Bionicle, I don't think it's something that defines 90 year of LEGO compared to something brick-based, but it still was a long lasting theme/genre that made a sub-section of LEGO community. Just for 2022 we got multiple references : - Classic Space figure in 80035: Monkie Kid's Galactic Explorer / 80036: The City of Lanterns (stickers) - Bionicle 80036: The City of Lanterns (sticker) - Znap 80036: The City of Lanterns (sticker) - Galidor wingsuit reference 80030: Monkie Kid's Staff Creations (box art) + build Hidden Side School bus had both Blacktron II (torso) and Bionicle (sticker) references in the school bus.
-
But City, Crocodile and Disney Trains (official retirement date 2022) , and Hogwarts Express if you class it as train, were still sold during 2021 , yes there were out of stock issues for sure, but LEGO does not always make trains each year. Ok Emerald Night, Maersk ,and Horizon Express were back to back sets, but then there was a big gap between train sets until Crocodile , and then some other sets inbetween like a re-release winter village train and a Hidden Side train aimed at kids. Not trying to deny train fans but being realistic. Biggest issue with trains during 2021 was the sets being out of stock a lot of the time, but global supply chain issues aren't LEGO's fault, especially when it involved the train electronics which are often made in other factories.

LEGO Creator 2022 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
TeriXeri replied to TeriXeri's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So far for 2022 beside the hotel there's the Vespa Scooter discussed here: Other 2022 sets would be : (source : https://www.promobricks.de/lego-2022-neuheiten/#ultp-id-1685d4d2 ) 10299 Estadio Santiago Bernabéu 349,99€ 03/2022 10300 Back to the Future: DeLorean 169,99€ 04/2022 10311 Orchidee 49,99€ 2022 Creator Expert type sets tend to get their own threads / discussion, I mainly made this Creator 2022 to house the smaller sets including 3-in-1, of course doesn't mean that Creator Expert can't be discussed here, but easier to focus discussion on bigger sets in their own threads when they already exist. Modular usually gets discussed in Town, a Train usually in Trains, and Creator Expert vehicles usually get topics in this subforum. -
I guess it depends how the MOC is made in the first place. If it's pre-planned, digitally especially, instructions should be easy to reverse-engineer from the digital build, or split in sub-assemblies. If it's an unplanned free-build from bricks, making instructions would be a secondary focus for me. I can understand the demand for instructions though, especially alternate builds are the type of MOC that intrigue me.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Ice festival has 100% prints, the other has stickers this year. Dragon Boat Race also had stickers in the first year. -
I wonder if the crystal pieces from Spinjitzu Burst will be re-used in some form, the pieces don't really position themselves well as the hinge is a loose type (which is logical as it's meant to flip open, and only held together by the rubber band), but still could work as armor plating on top of something. A new crystal piece that's more useful with a similar look might be better though, but at least it shows how a dual-moulded crystal could look.
-
I was a big fan of Nexo Lava and Stone monster and such, this season sounds very cool, and crystal samurai, crystal swords etc, sound like they'll fit in fine , including Season 13 Ninjago. Returning villains I don't mind getting a chance to get them as I didn't collect Ninjago until 2019. Crystal King and Temple descriptions sound great for sure, but the others as well. Most sets being (some 7+) 8+ , 9+ , 10+ gives me confidence in the builds.

Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
TeriXeri replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Which I think is a good thing, Monkie Kid and Ninjago need to stay somewhat different directions, or you'd get 2 themes that would be similar and compete with eachother. I know china and japan are very different things, but Monkie Kid going to the moon this time around, it would not make sense to ninjago to go to space at the same time. And LEGO has a bit more self-freedom with Ninjago. The Season 13 Skull Dungeon wave also probably would appeal to a different audience compared to let's say the Gaming or underwater subthemes (including person experience), so variation might get people into collecting it more. Monkie kid does have the Lady Bone Demon which is still very differently styled compared to the Skull Sorcerer. And with Legacy, I'm sure there might be new versions of older sets again at some point, I think if Legacy would've ended 100% it would be known. Sounds awesome and my type of subtheme, I did like the Nexo Lava and Stone Monsters, and Ninjago Season 13 was great , so I do like rock/crystal based things. Maybe this will appeal to Rock Raider/Power Miner fans too (I never had sets of those themes myself, Nexo still had some rock inspired vehicles and drills.) -
The shift from creativity to consumer fan base?
TeriXeri replied to mikaelsol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Some parts of the Internet has become very "demanding" claiming LEGO ignores everything, just look at any of the Trains, Space, Castle, Bionicle, Pirates, City Animal, CMF discussions here, there's an ever growing demand even in unlicensed themes. (or it just could be a very vocal minority) (I'm not saying that wishlisting is bad, wanting new sets, parts or animals is fine, I take part in those discussions too, and they are popular, but it's a different tone from making bold claims "LEGO ignores us for not making xxx") I'm not going to analyze LEGO from 2001-2015 as I wasn't actively following/collecting at that time. I admit 2016-2019 was a pretty dry period for Castle and Pirates (there was Elves and Nexo Knights but often are forgotten as they were different from the "Classic" norm) , Pirates just had a 2015 wave of sets but short lifespan. 2019 City space went in a somewhat different direction from usual, even had a people pack, and at the same year there was LEGO Movie 2 , most notably Benny's Space Squad 2020 was a Pirate year, 2021 a Castle year and 2022 definately a Space year again (Monkie Kid + City this time around) And the 90th anniversary thing isn't revealed yet. Now, with some big train sets (disney and crocodile) and barracuda bay retired in 2022 , it's going to be interesting what the future will bring, I do think that the shift to IDEAS/3-in-1 set is at least a new strategy compared to no sets at all. I do think 3-in-1 is a decent system to get multiple designs for older themes across, but it could've even been better if supported with figure packs or horses etc. Just in the last 6 years many non-licensed or semi-licensed themes came and went , like Nexo, Elves, Hidden Side, LEGO Movie 2 and recently Vidiyo. Elves and Nexo had pretty normal lifespans for themes, Hidden Side last wave was cut short , the LEGO Movie 2 sets lingered for a long time on sale ,except the last 3 sets, and now Vidyo got dumped at bargain prices and ended rather quickly. I'm not saying people cannot want themes/sets/nostalgia back, but it's simply the reality that LEGO cannot release their whole 3 or 4 decades of Space/Castle/Pirates/Trains or even Star Wars sets new on shelves at the same time, if we add every single theme, that's thousands of retired sets out of like dozens of different factions and figure/color/print/sticker designs. I'm also not trying to say "Want Castle ? get Harry Potter. Want Space? get Star Wars". And every time LEGO makes a new landspeeder, the community goes "another landspeeder" -
The shift from creativity to consumer fan base?
TeriXeri replied to mikaelsol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My statement of "not popular" was worded poorly. Just to clarify this, in many discussions about the back of box (and why they ended) a reason is brought up of "parents calling complaining at LEGO for lack of instructions". I think kids and AFOL now still mostly loved them. Out of personal experience however, never happened. LEGO had the "Remake" website a few year ago 2016-2019 as a project between Rebrickable and LEGO but I can't remember it ever getting big. 3-in-1 had downloadable instructions for a 4th or more models but 31088: Deep Sea Creatures from 2019 seems to be the last set that has it. -
The shift from creativity to consumer fan base?
TeriXeri replied to mikaelsol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Alternate build suggestions certainly help spark creativity, and while the lack of instructions wasn't popular, I think especially kids back then were inspired by it . Especially in the 80s and 90s before internet, where most of my LEGO related images either came from catalogs (some included in sets), and box art. 4559: Cargo Railway was my only train set, but the alternates of a steam locomotive, or cargo train that had a crane to carry/drop rails were great even without instructions it inspired me to make my own trains from that set. -
Monster Metal Castle was something that seemed pretty expected, given the theme of frankenstein type zombies + dragons and them using axes. Even while canned, at least it shows there's still interest for LEGO to make Castle stuff after the current IDEAS/3-in-1 sets. Castle could've meant a lot in vidiyo sense (see Candy Castle)

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
TeriXeri replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
How about a drone that shoots eggs , drone from 60319: Fire Rescue & Police Chase + egg splat . Then again, a custom drone could easily be modified from just the 60315: Police Mobile Command Truck set with the egg splats to begin with. Best 2022 drone in terms of set is the bank set drone as the suggestion for a minifig to both control and fly holding it while stealing bags of money is a nice one. -

Could do a farm / monkie kid / city crossover with the "secret sauce / reactors" in the fire sets, that might have made the bunnies super smart able to build a moon carrot rocket/mech and turned a pig into Pigsy. I know it's not official "lore" , but crossing over LEGO themes is fun imagination. -

It also can depend on what other companies do have on shelves, I think at least in this case : Playmobil started doing "playmobil figure scale" james bond DB5 and goldfinger sets recently and now a LEGO speed Champion 007 DB5 is rumoured which would be the first bond figure. If the rumour of the Speed Champion is true that is, if Speed Champion does make movie-based cars, an updated 8-wide DeLorean seems logical to follow, even while Playmobil currently also has BTTF sets. -
Road plates are the bad thing now because LEGO hates City builders using baseplates ? What about Blue rails era, to grey rail era , battery boxes, to central power pickup, to rail based pickup 9V, to IR, to Bluetooth. (much bigger changes the simple width/color changes of road plates during the same time) I understand people with large road layouts would be costly to replace it with new road plates, same thing basicly happened during the change from blue/grey to 9V sets, not only the power system was incompatible (9v can't run on grey/blue rails), they also officially don't connect. (old 12V trains themselves could still mostly run on 9V era rails using the mid-power system, not sure how switches were compatible, never had them, only 12 and 9V)
