  1. The 2022 BAM wizard pouch print certainly is more of a throwback to Majisto/Wiz the Wizard from 1995, while the smaller stars/moons are like the CMF wizard. More Wizards , the better
  2. Wow, those torso prints and alternate builds are very good. 3-in-1 remains my favorite theme overall, and this doesn't disappoint.
  3. To me, that turqoise torso guy looks a bit happier compared to the 90s variant of such face. But yes, if you take train driver face from that same set/era you get this :
  4. I think those torsos are great, LEGO using different colors this time, and multiple colors and different arms are nice at times as well. Not all torsos need to have waistlines or breast accents. And to me Pink/Purple or any color don't decide the gender. The big factor on how widely useful those torsos would be is if the backside does have some train related logo, it would limit it a bit, even while it would make perfect sense as a train conductor/driver. And before it's taken out of context, this is just 2 torso, I'm not saying that ALL future torso with suits/jackets need to be like this, if there will be more feminine suits with deeper v necks or waist lines , that's 100% fine. Example from 60134: People Pack - Fun in the Park which as a more feminine look to a business suit, and I think that looks good too.
  5. Certainly a cool set, LEGO trying different things like this is nice, the outside entrance facade / backstage adds so much more then just yet another stage set.
  6. Nexo Knight did get me back into LEGO (I didn't collect LEGO from 2001 onward until 2016), but I can see the perspective from LEGO fans that it was a big shift from the nearly constant Castle lines that were produced up to 2013/2014. (with some "weird" variants like Knight Kingdom early on, and some junior-ish early 2000s). However, LEGO should not try something like that for a forseeable future, especially now that Ninjago and Monkie Kid both have somewhat futuristic vehicles and mechs and both have various types of Monsters to battle with swords and shooters. Jestro's Volcano Lair was by far my favorite "classic" castle type of set, maybe it's the nostalgia to the Fright Knight Castle I never had, while it might not have been the bastion with a drawbridge or gate, the stairs going around to the top was quite a nice design, and the colors would still easily work as a lava castle in a traditional sense (maybe with the sawblade/monster things removed a bit) Knighton Castle wasn't bad at all either, Design wise it might not have a very realistic layout but as a playset with an open back, and a courtyard I think the design is still very suited to a Castle, with plenty room to set figures on the ramparts and towers. The majority of the theme were vehicles however, I think the theme should've had more locations, as even the story did have many areas, from villages, forests, cities, or conceptual sea monsters. That said, I hope for the forseeable future, Castle and Pirates will stay closer to their traditional roots, and the occasional side theme set like the Viking ship.
  7. Black Knights had dragon emblems on their shields/flags as early as 1988, but it wasn't until their spiritual successor 1993 Dragon Knights that actual Dragons were introduced. Then 1997 Fright knights continued using the green dragons, but also introduced black variant, and black or neon orange wings, Time Cruisers also used a bunch of Wings or dragon horse helmets. My biggest issue with experience at the time with those dragons were the clips were fragile. But design wise it was pretty clever, the way you could attach flame in the mouth (flames had little side pins the past), as well as the overlap between dragon and crocodile head/tail usage.
  8. Seeing how that Viking ship was found in a catalog with a discount on it already, gives me hope it's not as exclusive as the Castle was, and hopefully LEGO will stick to the €100 price as well (both the Castle and Pirate Ship started at 899DKK , only the Pirate ship did get the price increase this year) As for the ship design, I love it but I'm a big fan of those 3-in-1 colors , LEGO has been using combinations of darkblue/yellow/red/white/brown for multiple years now across many 3-in-1 sets. The serpent isn't perfect but I can forgive the color mismatch a bit due to the use of Ratchet Joint parts which are mainly made in those darkgrey/black colors. Can't really see how many weapons or shields the figures will have but there's at least 1 axe visible. Goat Boat has more useful minifig "shields" (stickered round tiles on holdable shields), the 3-in-1 shields look fine as decoration, but maybe some handle pieces are included to hold them Something like this:
  9. Probably around 2 more weeks until the usual "official" pictures 1st week of May (good quality City 2022 set pictures appeared 1st week of December)
  10. Well, I can agree that if they end up as people packs, they shouldn't be Fire or Police themed in the future, but hopefully this Water Police set can still bring some unique figures.
  11. Shaping on the ship looks great. Big question would be the price and exclusivity. While the price on the 3-in-1 Pirate Ship did increase 20% this year, the fact it's not exclusive, means it still can be found at around €85, while the Castle pretty much has been €100 constant since launch.
  12. The set is called "Mission: Water Police Investigation", so you're saying it's a shame if it has a police minifig ? The 2017 Beach people pack did re-use a Diver torso/leg print from 2015. The suggestion of LEGO possibily re-using the 2021 Police Diver wouldn't be that crazy, also it's only in 1 set, I'm not suggesting a people pack entirely made of recycled common police torsos.
  13. I'm most interested to see what those Mission sets will be. Mars Exploration , Water Police Investigation , Wildlife Animal Rescue The price is the same as the former People packs (supposedly $39.99 ), but those have more pieces. Wouldn't surprise me to be the new variant of people packs, likely with less minifigs but maybe more accesoires and small builds (higher piece count, small pieces) My guess is that Water Police likely will re-use the diver torso from the 2021 Police Boat set.
  14. As from Europe, I've just come to accept that MK is only sold on LEGO.com . (but I can understand hunting down discount in other regions that sell them more widely) I've been very selective on sets as well, only got the Dragon Horse Jet, Moon Cake Factory and Galactic Explorer, all 3 sets cover the "colorful cockpit spaceship" vibe for me. and don't really overlap with my existing Nexo or Ninjago sets (mechs/big wheelers etc)
  15. Online BAM site is already gone at the moment, I know it was a Beta, maybe they took it offline to keep up with high initial demand. Pick a Brick also notes they have a 5-6 week backlog for non-bestseller items.
  16. True, the cow horn did get re-introduced again fairly recently and this castle does happen at the same time as a City Farm subtheme, so this is the best time if anything for bringing back the goat and cow and maybe some other color of horse (beside Tan and Dark Orange)
  17. I doubt Ice Planet would be in CMF, while nothing has been confirmed, trans-neon orange has not been in seen in any 2021 or 2022 sets after Story of Nian, and LEGO did reference Ice Planet in 2 torsos in their Ice Festival set. LEGO even gave one of those figures an orange snow helmet that's new in that color for 2022. I think if LEGO still produced trans-neon orange it probably would've at least used 1 part in that color. Just my thoughts, hopefully I'm wrong and the color comes back, especially on the space cockpit from 76832: XL-15 Spaceship
  18. Horses should be the only focus on animals in a set like this. Sure, some other farm animals or a throwback to things like a grey parrot/falcon would be nice but Horses are too iconic to Castle to miss out on and something 3-in-1 theme doesn't provide. A King's carriage with 2 horses, a king's horse (or rival joust horse), and then some knights would be very nice to see in a big set , 3-4 horses in such a set wouldn't be strange, should at least have 2 minimum to have a joust.
  19. I love that they added this online BAM, €6,99 for 3 figures isn't bad (€2,33 per figure even if you add more) And it's seperate from the pick-a-brick so no service fees, just the regular shipping as ordering normal. I know those first offerings are older parts from like 2020, but that also gives people a reason still to go to stores if they wish for newer parts.
  20. Looks like something Ultimate Aaron from Nexo Knight would drive on the moon Anyway, great design, nice color scheme and good details, the front wheels being thin makes it look a lot more sleek.
  21. I only had experience with 1 raised baseplate 6278: Enchanted Island, while it did offer terrain and the print on it was amazing with the river, rocks and plants, it was quite thin and flimsy at the raised stud area corners. Also heavy multi-color prints like that could get scratched and permanently look bad For a €300+ set, I'd rather see terrain made of slopes and maybe some burps to form a cliff/cave/basement section. Some older Castles had various raised baseplates, some a lot better then others, it really depends how it presents, the year 2000 Castle being the worst imo, very junior, and just plopped on top of the baseplate, and the drawbridge being hollow underneath seems not very defensive at all. The 3-in-1 Castle makes good use of 2x2x3 slopes and the Olive color doesn't even look bad imo, so far it's only in Olive in that one set, but wouldn't mind seeing some in the big Castle. Also , a courtyard in the front, instead of a cliff, could work as well, it would be an area for some market and joust in front the castle.
  22. Yes Stability for Cave like builds or platforms can certainly be greatly increased via Burps. I loved them back then, and still do, early castle sets that didn't use raised baseplates greatly benefit from them. Old Castle sets didn't have a lot of small pieces , but the burps and panels still allowed varied builds. Recently there was a Brickset article about the Wolfpack Tower set and alternate builds. I felt the same way with the Royal Drawbridge set I had, with a similar design and use of Burps to form the cellar/cave/prison of the main build. https://brickset.com/article/74078/6075-wolfpack-tower-showcasing-what-can-be-done-with-one-classic-lego-set I don't mind burps at all, but I imagine AFOL would expect BURP to have some more detail via extra slopes in a €300+ set. Of course 3-in-1 Castle also kinda showed that rocks can be made with a mix of smaller panels and slopes, but BURP would still allow a good start for a cave/cliff with good stability in a much bigger build. Biggest benefit for BURP beside stability would be the fact they allow hollow interior space that would not be possible with regular bricks. Perfect for hiding some treasure or hollow rock/cave/trees/prison type of spaces.
  23. I agree, If I had a modern train (I still have an old 9V train) ,I'd like to expand it, not buy another one 4 year later to get more wagons or side-builds. I know you can make MOC and whatnot, but those train wheels/magnets still have to come from somewhere like parted out sets. I don't even want all electronic cranes or crossings, just an expandable system instead of waiting 4 years would go a long way into wanting to start collecting again. When people talk about 9V or 12V eras it's not strictly the rails and how they were powered , but the availabiltiy of multiple sets, or at least yearly sets to expand, with stations, cargo wagons, passenger push trains or crossings / cargo yards. LEGO has offered some train related things outside of the City line, the Hidden Side train set being the closest to an unpowered train with some cargo wagons that weren't Disney,Christmas or 18+ themed, outside of the Winter Village station the main focus is mostly locomotives or full trains, no seperate expansion material beside rails.
  24. Not to mention, Epic have the Unreal Engine, which is very suited for putting a lot of objects in a scene (unreal engine 5 nanites), LEGO blocks should be very suitable for that. Epic isn't just fortnite but maybe LEGO is working on a new attempt of a minecraft/roblox kind of environment "safe for kids" .
  25. Great build, love the modularity when it comes to Space sets. Nexo Knights certainly was a great source of trans-neon-orange in modern times. As for recreating other old spaceships with modern parts, can already see how people might use 2022 City space parts for some Futuron remakes, I know it's not trans-dark-blue but it seems nowadays the trans-lightblue is a bit darker with the new material (from building the 3 space sets recently myself)
