  1. LEGO typically uses such stickers for continuation of a stripe onto some prefab cockpit/tail section of a train/airplane/helicopter. In this case however with no stripe, the blue color mismatch just makes it worse.
  2. That city ice cream truck could very well be a bank/valuables/prison transport van with some color/window swaps and roof without cone, its generic enough. The 2014 LEGO Movie ice cream truck had the same colors so I assume LEGO wanted to reuse them here or at least used it as inspiration. Overall I like that the 2022 police sets use very generic vehicles for the criminals, ice cream truck, garbage truck, cleaner truck and mini tractor are useful in City outside of a cops vs robber scenario. The black/teal car in the chase set also is nice, fits well with the other car on the 2021 car transporter. Best of all not all those vehicles used by the criminals are bright red, gives me hope If lego does something like a bulldozer break in again that the vehicle could be yellow for example.
  3. Ideal warcraft sets to begin with would be the more basic architecture of the classic races and not things like legion/naaru spaceships and such. Steampunk or vehicles are fine, just would rather get a classic warcraft sailboat instead of a set like one of those purple zeppelins that MEGA made in a set. I'd prefer mounted minifigs over vehicles any day unless its like part of a siege machine vs structure. Also maybe some dungeon/raid/world boss focused sets (even blackrock mountain is super iconic with many different places by itself focusing on orcs, dwarf, dragons, elementals in different areas of it), lich king of course being another huge iconic villain + locations.
  4. I love the colors of that set, and the criminal figures look good. City figs of some years ago had many stereotype "angry" criminal faces, and this change is nice.
  5. What I meant with "old old" sets are like sets that have been produced long ago, but have been sitting in some storage for many years, so flaws like old weaker moulds, brittle colors or weak stickers is what worries me if they do that. A more interesting Option 2 would be restarting production. But then there are other issues like many retired moulds, different browns/greys/chrome, remaking prints/stickers/sails etc. Option 3 would be like barracuda bay style remakes but as close to the original as possible with current parts. But yes we'd be lucky if any of this even happens.
  6. True, I didn't even think of that, a (magnet) container crane could work for a cargo train for sure. The 2018 Cargo train did have it's own crane wagon with smaller containers , the 2014 and 2010 had overhead cargo cranes, and the 2019 space launch crane has retired in 2022. Cargo as a subtheme could be interesting if they combine things like train, ship and maybe mail/package delivery in the same wave. 2008 had mail and air cargo, 2013 had air and road cargo, 2017 had a road cargo terminal, so a 5 year gap would even fit in the timeline, and a post office/cargo transfer area could fit with the road plates design. The new bank set does have a mailbox ,and the yellow bike in the picnic set might make people nostalgic for the 1998 yellow bike mail set. Monkie kid kind of also does cargo with the mooncake set , packing cakes in boxes, then packing boxes into a vehicle (rocket).
  7. If the back catalog means more accesible older Castle/Pirates/Space/Creator sets etc, that could be awesome but of course depends on implementation. I didn't really follow LEGO from 2001-2015 and there were a lot of cool sets in that period. Even older sets like the 70s-80s-90s would even be more exciting but there are so many parts not produced anymore will those be sets sitting in a warehouse somewhere for a long time, or would they be actually "new" . However, I have a very reserved feeling about this back catalog as it'll likely be a very limited amount of sets. Newly produced old sets will have the problem of molds not existing anymore or will face redesigns. Old old sets will have old parts with flaws like some piece designs being more prone to breaking like thinner clips, especially when the parts are actually old.
  8. A train is still pretty much 99% expected , but it doesn't need to be those set numbers. (last 2 trains were $160 and $230) , main square was $200. But there are other things that could make expensive sets, like ship hulls(last big ship was $150), a return of harbor with road plates/large crane parts, or even magnet (the 2020 police helicopter with the magnet isn't retiring yet and there's a Sardine Factory + Container with new double doors in a 2022 Fire set) 2014 and 2010 had overhead train cranes so maybe an overhead crane is likely for a 2022 train , considering there will also be a fairly large wheeled crane in City, but could be interesting to see if they do more 6 wide containers.
  9. 60243: Police Helicopter Chase is like the only 2020 Police set not retiring, surprisingly , means the magnet pieces are still in production as well. I wonder if that piece will ever be re-used for other things, like a harbor/crane type of subtheme, the Sardine Factory set does have container with the new double doors. The rumored $180 set being a train is still more likely however. (the last trains were $160 and $230 in dollars) but there also have been $200 set like Main Square.
  10. 100% agree, I only ever got the 2018 and 2019 Calendar (I only started collecting City in 2018) and the 2019 Calendar was great, and older ones looked even better. 2018 wasn't bad as it was my first one, but it still has a lot more microbuild/toys compared to 2019. I wish LEGO would do Castle/Pirate Calendars again, but can't compare 2009/2010 to now, currently there are 5 calendars this year , Friends(2012-now)/Star Wars(2011-now)/Marvel(2021)/Harry Potter(2020-now) being added as calendar themes 2022 still is a LEGO City Adventures year, but I hope it's not the same microscale for a 3rd year in a row. Friends had some different types of calendars, with mixing up minidoll/microdoll scale builds like this year, and christmas tree ornaments other years.
  11. Just built 80020: White Dragon Horse Jet and it's even better in person then on images. Quite a heavy compact build with lots of great pieces for spaceships, and the vending machine that actually works can be easily added to some town.
  12. This, European LEGO.com does have the sets in stock except the ones that were supposed to retire, and those retired sets are listed as Sold out, not temporary out of stock.
  13. I agree, Warcraft could have so much potential for a fantasy theme, even the CMF 22 is somewhat a pseudo warcraft night elf and I mean that in a positive way. I'll leave the situation at Blizzard/Activision or the current state of the games out of discussion, Warcraft by itself just is a very varied fantasy universe, which has a special place as I did enjoy the games/books for a long time.
  14. I liked the Sky Police armored truck, it fit well with the Cobra looking helicopter and Fighter Jet of that "semi-military" subtheme, but this version from the Bank set looks great as well. The fact that 60210 was called Air Base further expanded the semi-military nudge to that theme. LEGO also made a YF-23 lookalike stunt jet for 2021 The original helicopter from that "bomb factory" might've looked similar to some design features of a Kamov KA-52 or Sikorsky S-69 (experimental) military helicopter's design, with the co-axial double rotors and long tail section, as co-axial helicopters aren't that common. Anyway, LEGO basicly made a completely new helicopter instead because the 2022 design helicopter looks very different , 1 rotor, landing skids and a rear cargo door and a new cockpit/nose part. Instead of bombs, Daisy Kaboom wearing a beard disguise uses a garbage truck this time to ram a part of a prison wall in the 2022 police station, the 2017 and 2020 prisons have a tnt feature, maybe after the cancelation of the bomb factory set, they wanted to stay away from TNT escapes at the moment. Also shooting ice cream or eggs is a nice comical approach to some of the 2022 sets. So far, however, I don't think set design has crossed a line in terms of military/police, what you mostly see now are cops running/riding after people with handcuffs or net shooters. 853570: Police Accessory Set from 2016 is the only set I know remotely close to a gun/nightstick lookalike police weapon : Other themes and weapons, that's an entirely different discussion.
  15. I'm still planning to make a custom build similar to that set at some point, if the time comes that my nexo knight display gets taken apart. I know it won't be 100% the same but nexo did have a lot of blue/darkblue with neon orange, and some other winter/chinese new year sets have had white angled plates. Also 2 new ice planet inspired minifigs in the 2022 80109: Lunar New Year Ice Festival set. I also still have the parts from 2 6834: Celestial Sled somewhere in my old collection, so I can at least have some of those white skis and printed slopes. I know this topic was about m-tron, and only had 1 set 6811: Pulsar Charger. As for biggest space ship, my family had a 928/497: Galaxy Explorer . My biggest ship was a 6907: Sonic Stinger from insectoids , which I also had a few other sets from, for the time, the figures and metallic printing was one of my favorite.
  16. The more I look at 31127: Street Car , the more I like it, it's nowhere near minifig/city scale, at 10+ wide , but in terms of parts, looks like a great selection of part types and colors. Wheels are big but it does come with fenders to allow smaller wheels at a smaller build.
  17. The main thing I don't like of 2022 ninjago is how few pieces are in the spinner sets compared to previous years especially 2019. I think the current wave does a good job at targeting a wide age range, and the variation of dragon heads is quite nice for dragon/dinosaur MOCs, and the 2 location sets have great parts to customize builds as well, as it doesn't really use extreme colors, and with just those 2 sets you complete a set of ninja + wu + pixal. I wish the head/hairpieces were in sets for all the ninja but that's maybe asking too much. Not sure why Cole doesn't get a hairpiece this wave.
  18. I'm interested to see what's in 41950: XXL supplementary set It looks to be a set like 2021 Lots of dots, but with quarter round bow tiles :
  19. I can understand the return of the yellow bike being nice, in my case, that 1998 yellow bike set was my only bike until like 2018 and didn't really think of it being rare, a lot of those small box sets were part of some promotions from a nearby supermarket at the time, 1997-1999.
  20. I don't think Construction will shift to flame-yellow, but maybe we'll see more blue/yellow like the crane, 2015 and 2017 construction trucks had blue cabs. And speaking of construction, really hope LEGO will do an excavator and dump truck that isn't 4+ soon. The darkred garbage truck from the Police Station looks great , it can dump trash into the truck via a hatch in the roof ,but I haven't seen if it has a dump feature through the open rear. Using those road plate ramps sideways could be an interesting way to form the sides of a dump truck bed. Could also be demolition if LEGO wants to re-use this part from Stuntz : I don't expect a Mining theme this year as the moon sets pretty much have the same discovery/geode function with the round boulders, however, maybe LEGO will re-use the mould in some cave exploration type of set, or bring back the 2019 geodes in colors like transparent purple (minecraft added amethyst and dripstone caves recently so kids know about it)
  21. Those are some danish firetrucks from Aarhus which have the neon yellow stripe, and also the water gun on the liftarm : For the Police car color scheme, some designs from Germany seem to be an inspiration for the 1-plate thick cool yellow/neon yellow stripe since 2020 : The Ambulance helicopters seem to be a inspiration blend of those , with the hospital helicopter being more white, and the helicopter transport more neon yellow. Those are just some vehicles that might have been inspiration for the color scheme, but I'm not trying to put City theme into the real world, I just tried to find some vehicles that have similarities. City isn't tied to a real world country/city in any way, it remains a fictional place with unbranded vehicles, ultimately the designers will probably know where the design choices came from. There are other themes anyway for licensed real-world vehicles, like Speed Champions, Technic, Creator Expert etc
  22. The side candles hang on this which has the bar inside a brick which is covered by https://www.lego.com/cdn/product-assets/product.bi.core.pdf/6332006.pdf
  23. I love that style , with the arches forming the basement, colors of parts used in that set are just nice overall so even with open back it still looks very stylish from the back. I ony have the Legacy monastery in terms of ninja temple locations so I can't really compare it to other sets experience but so far this set looks to have it's value, in many aspects somewhat reminds me of the Knighton Castle rear layout with a ninja/knight area on bottom, weapons/food mid-floor and throne/wu-room in center. Snake vehicle reminds of the the macy drill from Jestro's Headquarters. Training ground will make it feel somewhat more complete, and variable, I liked how the skull sorcerer dungeon and journey sets also added nicely to eachother.
  24. I like the neon yellow more then the pale yellow, the only thing that couldve been better is not to use a neon yellow panel for some of the fire trucks but use the red/silver panel flame instead like it is on the fire station. Right now it breaks the stripe, by turning a 1 brick high into a 4 brick high. On the police vehicles the 1-plate high is a lot more subtle but works well with the blue and white. If previous waves are an indication, the style of vehicles probably will change again in another 2-3 year when they reboot the fire/police sets. LEGO is an international company, and emergency vehicles are styled very differenty across countries/states or even cities and still change. 2022 vehicles seem to be a mostly a blend of european more recent styles, or styles that are proposed but not mass produced yet. World City, early City, LEGO Movie, and Prison Island were clearly US inspired with black/white color schemes and sometimes red/blue sirens. Of course people can like and dislike colors, not trying to excuse LEGO here
  25. That's quite an area you get with that 60321 brigade set, 2 16x16 plates, making it half a baseplate + 2 16x16 roads. Still, not sure which one I like more, the 2019 Downtown, or this one.
