  1. Brendan Low managed to build the model in white using some help from a Decool Porsche set..
  2. You're right.. I am surprised no one has mentioned this before.. Instead of a black pin holding that 1 x 1 round connector in place, it should be a 3L dark blue gray axle pin so that the axle end of it fits into the bush end of the 3L black pin on the following page.. We added these parts( 1 x 1 round connector and black pin) at the very end(not even on my original build) because I was concerned that people may place the differentials incorrectly and then when they finished the model, nothing would be turning.. I am very surprised that no one has mentioned this before considering I have seen pictures of numerous completed models..
  3. nychase just informed me that there are orange #3 connectors in one of the new 2017 Nexo Knights sets.. So it looks like there will not be any type of shortage..
  4. You know that and I know that, but the average person(usually someone who knows very little about Lego) doesn't know this.. I can't tell you how many people that I have talked to at various shows that would ask: "Can you build me a 19XX >insert car name here<?" Then I say "Yes" And they say "How much would it cost?" Then I say "Well you're looking at least in the $400 range just for the parts and that doesn't count my time for the development" Then they say "That's Crazy" and walk away When I get emails about commissioned projects and reply back with the part cost, I usually never hear back.. But there are some people out there with the cash that don't care...
  5. Back when I was designing this model in the fall, I had no idea that the #3 orange connectors were going to be an issue.. When I checked bricklink back in like October/November, there were at least 150 sellers that had dozens of them, now there are under 80 sellers that have them.. Eric had told me that there was a kinetic sculpture that someone built and had instructions for that used over 70 of them.. I probably have about 50 or 60 new ones on hand, so if there is anyone in the U.S. that needs any, shoot me a message or email.. I can also help out my European brothers, but it may be cheaper to get them from a seller closer to avoid the shipping cost..
  6. Nice job Jeroen.. I can't tell you how many people have requested models from me over the years and when I told them a rough estimate of just the cost of the parts, they backed out... And we're only talking like $300 to $400.. There are people out there that have the money that want something unique, no matter what the cost..
  7. One of my German friends just sent me this link.. Someone built it with the wheels from the 8448.. I am not sure if they actually fit the hubs or not, but it looks pretty cool..
  8. Just use 2 of these And 2 of these I didn't realize those parts were so rare.. Axle color doesn't matter .. I purposely asked Eric to use the new colored axles in the entire drive-train so that people would use new axles.. During the process of the instructions, I had a 3rd chassis that wasn't operating as smoothly as the other 2 that I had built and it turned out the issue was an axle that was either slightly bent or slightly too long.. That area after page 24 needs to be built exactly like it is in the picture, including the Red #2 Connectors facing opposite ways.. That was something that I requested that we add to avoid any issues down the road.. You may also have wondered why there are 1/2 pins in the ends of the 9L liftarms that are being used to move the driving rings.. This is make sure that people don't use that last hole in the liftarm and then have to tear the model apart after they are finished to fix the problem.. Another thing we added were the pins and 1 x 1 sleeve connectors in the 5 x 7 open frames to make certain the differentials were facing the proper direction, otherwise I would get complaints that the gearbox wasn't turning when the car was rolled along... Many times when people are following the instructions, they are not following them closely..
  9. For anyone interested, Eric(Blakbird) and I have been collaborating over the past coupe months doing instructions for this new model.. Eric has a ton of time involved in these and we made dozens of changes throughout the process to enhance the building experience.. They are free to all.. All I ask is please share them with everyone as I know there will be thieves trying to make a profit off of them.. Happy New Year Everyone..! Rebrickable CLICK HERE FOR INSTRUCTIONS AND BSX File
  10. Don't be surprised if that steering set-up doesn't work as well when you start adding the weight of the car's body.. I used a similar method over a decade ago.. And while it worked, there was a lot of stress on the universal joints because of the weight of the car.. I try to avoid using bevel gears(meshed 90 degrees) as much as possible in the steering..
  11. One of the unfortunate downfalls of the new style red clutch gear is that it is not compatible with the 16 tooth end of that differential..
  12. My Toys R Us has some of the 2017 sets on their shelves already..
  13. The Porsche had 1 x 11 orange liftarms in it.. I used some of the 1 x 11 liftarms from the Porsche in a new car that I recently built..
  14. Can't tell if those are silver or not.. Could just be LBG.. Speaking of rare parts, I noticed that the 42060 set has the very rare 9L orange liftarms in it..
  15. Got the video uploaded... Also added it to the first post..
  16. Looking good..! Lots of great ideas..! I had to put 1/2 bushings in as limiters on the axle my gear rack slides on so that it stops right before the point where the CV joints begin to fail when steered..
  17. Those areas are flat because they are supposed to be flat as they are either connecting another curved panel or are transitioning towards one.... You also said it had "A lot" of Vampire GT DNA, so that is why I asked what other areas besides the angled panels in the front you were referring to. You're right though, everyone has their own taste.. For example, there are a lot of build techniques that you and some other builders use that I would never do..
  18. You think the body design feels too easy..? Seriously..? The only area of this model that remotely has anything in common with my Vamp GT are angled panels in the front.. The entire rest of the car is completely different and is using parts that didn't even exist when I designed the Vamp in 2012.. As far as having 3 beams stacked in a few areas goes, would you say this is something that you never do on your models..? Like that Ferrari that you recently posted..? I didn't use the rarest orange parts like bushings, 3L pin with bushing, or any 9L liftarms.. As far as instructions go, I honestly don't know.. I'll have to see if Eric is up for it..
  19. It's been a busy 2016 for me, but I managed to get a supercar completed.. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think that it is my best work that I've done so far.. It is based around the sequential 4 speed AWD chassis that I posted last month which has been redesigned for this new model.. I tried to come up with some new uses for the new panels from the 42056 Porsche.. Everything seems to work pretty flawlessly.. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=566867 Free instructions at ReBrickable.
  20. I would call it an 80 MPH RC car with a LEGO body.. If people are going to boast about their achievements with LEGO, then I would expect the conquest has been made entirely with LEGO(or at least the keys to that achievement have been accomplished with LEGO).. That LEGO air-powered-car is another fine example of tricking the masses considering the entire chassis and other parts of it are not made of LEGO...
