I am assuming that it is the gearbox from the Porsche because it has the Porsche stickers on each side of where the shifter is going to go.. In this underneath shot, you can get a glimpse of the other gears that connect the 16 tooth gears in the back.. -

They are going to.. It doesn't look like that part hasn't been built yet.. The 16 tooth gears on the bottom are both on separate axles(4L with stop) from the ones on top.. I had to do this same thing one time in the model I showed up above to make it work.. -

It is basically working like this linear design only with more gears to make the connectivity.. The Porsche is just a little more complex with more gears.. If you follow the ones on the Porsche gearbox, you'll see that it has 4 speeds... -

That would be the 4 speed linear transmission.. -

I am glad that you posted this, otherwise I would have never got to see this amazing model.. -

They are both built very differently, but they do share the same method for chaning the gears.. However this method was already around for several years before either model was designed.. -

I've actually seen rear wheel steering on a Porsche, and the turning radius is very minimal.. Could Lego have included it..? Maybe.. is it really that important..? I am not sure.. -

Considering that it is using the old style panels in lime green, I can't really see it being released anytime in the future.. It's probably just an old project that Uwe built in his spare time.. -

That is a good point.. That clutch gear will prevent any type of mishap that could potentially happen.. The one thing about Technic in the TLC, it's gotta be fool-proof.. -

It's probably a safety valve for when the car is in first gear.. It's no secret that a simple 4 speed set-up has some friction in 1st gear, and this complex set-up has a ton a gears, so I can see Lego using a clutch gear to avoid gears skipping if the friction gets bad.. Or it could be a safety feature if the car is in nuetral and some rolls it along and then engages drive or reverse while the car is in first gear.. -
LOL.. (Eric)Blakbird and I dropped more than twice that amount on Pocher sets.. I think without all of the bells and whistles in the packaging, this set probably would have been around $249.99 USD, which I think would have been reasonable.. I am sure we'll get several of these.. Can't wait to watch the wife build it..

I honestly cannot see Lego doing all of their official press release and videos using a model that was not finalized.. Especially with the release only one month away.. -

I actually came here to post about this.. They are saying the parts are Lava Orange and even edited the box photos to match the real color.. Now why would Top Gear go out of their way to edit the pictures and make these claims...? -
