  1. What would putting a 1 x 1 liftarm do..? How would the driving ring rotate the axle going through it..?
  2. I guess this would considered "Non Vehicle"
  3. I have a feeling they might be available much sooner than that..
  4. Breaking the clips off fo the 3L driving ring is just a temporary solution until I get the sliding connectors from the Porsche.. The gearbox that I am building uses the larger driving rings. They are easier to work with since they are odd in length. Not to mention that using the 2L driving ring with a smooth connector is considered a somewhat "illegal" method..
  5. I did. It's much easier to break the little clips off of the driving ring..
  6. Lego has been using the hashtag #LEGOTechnicUltimate on their Facebook page every time they make an update about the Porsche.. They started doing this when they first posted the "911 Hours" teaser video back in April.. They have also been using #LEGOTechnicUltimateDad which is probably a good marketing strategy since Father's Day is June 19th.. I think there is also some type of contest for fathers to win a set..
  7. Toys R Us just had this set on sale last week for $103.99 which was a great price.. I wanted to pick one up and actually build it, but I waited too long and now it's back to it's regular price..
  8. I posted these here because only Technic people would most likely be interested in them and I feel much could be learned about mechanisms.. If they were posted in some obscure forum, the majority of the guys that frequent this forum would never see them.. If Jim or Eric want to move the thread now, that is fine..
  9. And Anio, I am just as puzzled as you.. I guess they just decided to go with what was most practical for them..
  10. Obviously this is the Fast & Furious version of the Porsche that allows the driver to continue to accelerate while driving backwards.. Seriously though, I was expecting reverse to just be it's own gear that bypassed the rest of the gearing in the transmission and went straight from the engine to the rear wheels..
  11. I found the train on Ebay from Europe, it is around $100 with free shipping.. I don't have a thread for that car.. Just click on the link, I have some more pics of it with a description.. I think it originally was, but there are various sellers from Ukraine that have it for sale...
  12. I know.. It had been brought up several times throughout the 80+ pages..
  13. It looked like he upshifted it about 7 times.. I am thinking that the fins from the driving ring and the clutch gear may have been been hitting each other on the downshift.. That happens sometimes when the parts are not moving.. Unless they have a failsafe stop in there somehow so you know when you reset it back to 1st gear.. Then again, you would think they would also do that to limit the upshifting after 4th gear..
  14. Eric, check out how many functions this truck has.. I am blown away.. At least these kits are pretty cheap..
  15. I know this isn't Lego Technic, but these are just too awesome not to share, not to mention that they are rather inexpensive.. I would imagine that much could be learned from these Amazing models.. You can buy them in the U.S. HERE
  16. My wife said earlier today that she is getting 6 of these to part out for her bricklink store.. I am getting 2, one to actually build(since my wife normally builds the sets) and one for parts.. You can also see them very clearly in the designer video with the light tan 3/4 pins inserted... I watched the video again and actually the steering doesn't seem too bad.. If the hubs were not so wobbly maybe they could have gone to a 1/2 pin instead for a bit more turning..
  17. I think the hubs are fine and look to have same geometry as the older ones, it is just that Lego is limiting the steering radius to prevent the possibility of the tires rubbing..
  18. If this is the case(which it appears to be) it is most likely going to result in some complaints...
  19. It's there to prevent possible damge to the gears if 2 speeds get accidentally or temporarily engaged at the same time while rolling it.. And possibly if rolling in nuetral and engaing drive while in first gear.. Hmm.. Maybe that is as far as it can steer without the tires rubbing something..? If that is the case, then why would they not have parts keeping the gear rack perfectly centered..? Why leave that little bit of space in there..? Looking at the underneath shot, it appears that those perpendicular connectors are still there..
