  1. Thanks! I didn't like the upper floor, so I changed it around a bit: I'm not sold on the red awning on this version, however...
  2. Get it while you can, because as soon as Halloween is over it will become Christmas time. I also honestly don't think there is gonna be a specific GWP purchase for this set. If there was, we would have probably heard of it by now. We are hearing bit and pieces about January's (apparent) Blacktron and Tahu GWP's but radio silence about anything WV related.
  3. Nice work! However, if you're going to build this in real bricks, you might want to see if all the parts actually exist before committing to it. (I don't think the red handle at the front and the black bucket used for the funnel exist in those colors, for example.)
  4. @Toastie first off, love the Alan Parsons Project reference, as I'm a big fan. (I've got their complete works on CD including the not-released "Sicilian Defense" album) I actually saw Alan Parsons in concert a few years back (pre-covid) at a Casino here in St. Louis. So, of course, they played the song you are referring to! Now onto your question: We were talking about potentially parting out the Queer Eye Fab 5 loft set as a parts draft at a future LUG meeting, with every element / color combo being sorted into a separate "lot" (ex: 85 white 1x2 masonry bricks in one copy set 10291) except for figures, which would be assembled into their own lots. Then, when the multiple copies (usually one per person participating) are done being sorted, we split the larger lots down (85 in my example is a lot for one lot, so maybe 10 get put in one smaller lot, and 10 in another, and so on.) to make it more fair, or pair weird single-digits numbers of parts together. Then, we draw numbers out of a hat to determine the picking order. The last person goes twice, as he goes first the second time through. Repeat until all parts are distributed. when it's over, whoever wants to can trade whatever they don't want for other things, as it's technically over at that point. (If I missed any of the rules of parts drafting, somebody sing out!) Anyway, I don't think it got much traction, as $60 per copy of the set is still a lot... and a lot more parts to sort through doesn't leave a lot of time for other things in a three-hour(ish) meeting. HOWEVER: we did do Boba Fett's throne room when it was on steep discount, so Fab 5 loft may be drafted, but I really don't know... it's a lot bigger than anything we've ever drafted before!
  5. You are 100% not the only one @Robert8!
  6. I think Lego is spreading themselves a bit too thin and is heading for the cliff. They are hooking onto franchises that's ship has sailed (who hears about Fortnite as much as a few years ago? But yet LEGO is apparently coming out with a battle bus!), have had issues with partner company's policies / ethics (Blizzard), are just plain head-scratching (Viydio with WB music), or just aren't selling period. (stadiums and the Fab 5 loft are on DEEP discount. My LUG was discussing parts drafting Fab 5 because it's so low priced EVERYWHERE.) Then there are the sad few themes with puzzling options were taken (No real DC sets this year?) or Marvel's cash grab of a set: the Black Panther bust, and the $500 Hulkbuster yet to come. My friends, we are heading for the bad ol' days again (1997 to 2003). They've apparently learned the wrong lessons from those dark times. After all, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger usually succeeds in the second attempt!
  7. Fortnite? Really? Ok, that's it, I'm calling it: LEGO has finally jumped the shark!
  8. Well, they've already got a good head mold from "Solo - A Star Wars Story" for the '68 version of the apes (even in the right color for Orangutan's)... As long as it's not the Tim Burton-version*, it could be possible. (*Man, that film sucked!)
  9. Update time! I had commented to my brother that the vehicle in Avatar set 75573 - Floating Mountains: Site 26 & RDA Samson reminded me of the Nexus Force "Talon" Dropships from the LEGO Universe video game while he was working on his version. So he made this dropship (Flickr link to it) for me in stud.io after making a Blacktron III model of it first. I plan on making one of these, at least. Check out his photo stream for more awesome stuff like this!
  10. I don't think the side-rods will be able to go around like they are with those claws sticking out on the sides, not to mention the side clearance issues involved if it were really built! Also, that mouth in the coal bunker is legit freaky.
  11. I don't think the trolley would be able to take R24, as the wheelbase is too long for it to turn without grinding / getting stuck. Also, a R24 wye doesn't exist yet anyway, @Doom2099. If I may offer an alternative solution - although I know it might not technically be what you're looking for - but what about a figure-eight style layout, with a X crossover at the center? You can enlarge the loops as needed with straight track to make straightaway's and add buildings on either the inner or outer side of the loops.
  12. ...Now that I found my lower jaw: Wow, that's very impressive! (You must've cornered the market on green bricks as well!)
  13. Ok, but how do you do that by "showing" autism in a non-speaking mini-figure on a town layout? They are called hidden disabilities for a reason, and that was the question at hand I was asking.
  14. As someone with Autism, how would you do that with a Lego mini-figure? The thing about autism or most neuro-divergent conditions is that it's invisible (I.E. not physical, like missing limb, or hearing aid, etc.) unless you talk to them or notice their quirks. So, I'm genuinely curious how you would do that or someone with down syndrome, without using harmful stereotypes...
  15. It's not a joke! It's a GWP: Thread here
  16. Thank you! If you want the LDD file, you can have it. A few parts are missing prints and some are absent entirely. I did just change the whole thing around though, just so you're aware! (see first post for more details on the updated model, or below for a quick look at both old and new.) Before ^ After ^ Thoughts, @Poodabricks (or anyone else)?
  17. Nice work on the skull and I love the streamlining near the cab! Although, you might want to put a wedge plate such as this under the front teeth to keep them straight, if there is clearance for it with the rails. Also, at long last, I'm not the only one one to build a 4-10-4 steam locomotive! It's so weird they skipped over this wheel arrangement in the real world... they did 0-10-0, 2-10-0, 4-10-0, 4-10-2, and 4-10-2, but not 4-10-4! It's so strange, considering they made 12 (and a single 14 driver) coupled engines. ...Anyway, awesome MOC, can't wait to see the future progress!
  18. I do that, yes. But I'm not sure if it's proper or not... we need a MOD to chime in on this one!
  19. @Supplement_Creatif If it's a topic you (as in, the author of the topic) created, I usually hold off on updates after a year or two especially if it's nothing major to say or the'res been no replies in-between then and now. With other peoples posts / threads it just depends. If it's something relevant, like poster asked a question question about how to do something in March, and nobody really answered until now in October, it *should* be fine to answer back and say, "this is how to fix XYZ problem". If you're posting a comment to say "Cool MOC!" on a model that's no longer on the first page of a sub-forum, that's generally not a good idea. Also, asking for instructions is usually considered rude too, unless the author offered it to whoever wanted it. @JopieK anything I'm forgetting or getting wrong on forum rules and regulations?
  20. Just thinking out loud, but if we get ANY "101 Dalmatian" sets from this 'classic animation' lineup, it better be Cruella's car and the devil woman herself! I could see it at the $19.99 price point, especially if it's comes like a 2 in 1 CREATOR-style set - damaged (roofless, flaming tailpipes) and regular version both in the same set, just swap a few parts to get from A to B. Just throw in Jasper and Horace figs to complete the trio of bad guys from the film, and presto, you've got a perfect set!
  21. This is getting quite a-ways off topic, but I remember Huw or a moderator being asked about it in a comment on a article about something maybe a year back. (not sure which one, it was quite a while ago and I read every article, so my memory fails me on this point) That was what they said "official sources", but not anything further. By the way: Brickset has only been wrong when the info being fed to them was "wrong" (changed)
  22. It's not "wrong", it's that Lego has said one thing and gone and something different before. A couple older modular buildings were supposed to end of line (EOL) around now, but are still being sold and the end dates got moved (I think, but don't quote me on that!) because they're still apparently selling strongly. Whereas some 2022 sets aren't selling well and will not get another production run as far as we know. What is true this month maybe not true next month, though! Remember it is a PROJECTED end date. Things happen to change that, like selling out the last stocks a week / month before the end date in your country, but in mine it's still around warming warehouse shelves until it get's EOL'ed.
  23. @ks6349 Brickset gets it's data from official sources, and as far as I know nobody has said who those sources are... but they've been right before, so they're trustworthy. LEGO themselves doesn't usually announce when things are retiring, they just go away with little to no warning. It could say "Retiring soon" or Hard to find" on the LEGO website for a few days or a couple months before leaving, or it could just go "out of stock" / "not available" one day... never to return.
  24. Man (enters room where woman is seated): "There's trouble at the mill." Woman: "Oh no, what happened?" Man: "somebody started rumors about the new Lego modular" Woman: "Isn't that what's supposed to happen at a RUMOR mill?" Man (exasperated): "I was simply told to come in here and report there was trouble at the mill, I didn't expect some sort of Spanish Inquisition! (with apologies to Monty Python for modifying their sketch, but this was too good to pass up)
  25. So, anyway, who here is combing this new WV Holiday Main Street set with the Hogsmeade Village Visit set? If you have, post pictures, I'm sure we'd all love to see them and how they compare! Also, has anyone who has got / will get the new Winter Village set planning on modifying it to be less Winter-y?
