This model was heavily inspired by the 2014 original eight-studs wide Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (set 21108) and a convertible MOD of that set I found on Rebrickable. I've been kicking this model around in my head since early September in several colors, (black, blue, dark gray, and red were among those considered) but green is the one I finally settled on. Instead of a late-50's Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance, it's now based on the (very similar) '59 Cadillac Eldorado. In the changeover, I added a hardtop (removable) roof, mirrors, and 1/2-stud offset side-by-side seating for two (with a third seat in the back row). I also changed around the wheels. I thought about putting a spare tire back here, but it proved to look stupid no matter what I did, so I left it off. The roof and rear windscreen are only connected by a few studs, making them removable. The car easily seats three figures total. Here is the original set 21108 I was inspired by, Ghostbuster Ecto-1 from 2014. Thoughts? EDIT 1/4/23: Real life photos added of finished model. Thoughts anybody?

Led by enigmatic eccentric Dr. Victor Strangebuild, the crew of Pioneer-74 is on a long-running quest to document the mysteries of deep space. Their goal is to explore unknown worlds, encounter fantastic creatures, and meet brand-new civilizations. Thus, they boldly venture forth into the great final frontier, never looking back towards home. THIS IS THE STORY OF PIONEER-74! So I built this spaceship Halloween in about two hours. I call it Pioneer-74 because I like naming things after old space probes (Pioneer, Odyssey, Voyager, etc.) while the "74" part of the name is because that's what year it was launched. (It has a certain retro look to it, almost like it came from Space: 1999) The brick separator solar arrays and engines have been built IRL for years with nothing interesting to tack them onto, so finally doing something with them makes me happy. The rest is heavily inspired by two CITY space sets (60227 and 60349, respectively) in orange for the LEGO Universe-inspired space theme, the Nexus Force. Pioneer-74 is completely modular, so it can be extended if I wanted later on. (This should also make transportation easier when built in real life.) A look at the vessel from above. NOTE: two figures are missing from the above picture... and it seems one of the finished ones has to get his head in the game as well! Credit where credit is due: @jan kusters ongoing space epic inspired this build, and to my brother for the two awesome renders! UPDATE 12/7/22: It's done! Sorry for the cruddy picture, it was the best I could do. It's far too long for my normal picture taking places! More pictures to come as soon as I can! Thoughts?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I heard it can transform into a giant robot. Also I wonder if it still has karate chopping action and laser beam eyes that can fry an egg at 10 feet, and who could forget built in A.I.! (I'm having too much fun doing this!) -

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
You are both wrong: I had a vision last night of a man (who looked very much like John Lennon) appearing on a flaming pie and said to me, "The next LEGO modular building shall be a music recording studio." He even showed me a picture: it had four-or-five guys playing instruments on the roof! (Another fellow who looked a lot like George Harrison then appeared on top of a flaming ice cream carton and said for John to stop messing with people's minds.) -

...some people just want to watch the world burn. Thanks to @Maaboo35 and @MxWinters, I'm going to need to bleach my brain to get this earworm of a song out! Anyway, awesome MOC, and a fitting name for it. -

7. Spaceships! LOTS and LOTS of awesome spaceships! -
I NEED to see that space Titanic done with set 10294. Somebody must've done MOD'ded it by now, right?

Maybe it's just me, but Who else is thinking about putting the 12th Doctor and a Egyptian mummy figures on the new upcoming "Orient Express" Ideas set? (It's not a space train, but it's close enough!) If we do get some more Doctor Who, I will buy every set I can get. I haven't bought any substantial 2022 official models, but this might (if this wish-upon-a star comes true) revamp my spending on sets instead of MOCs.

Could Lego "partially" melt if not used for a very long time?
Murdoch17 replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
He's kidding. Nobody does that... I don't think it's good for the bricks. -
Real world updates! This is about as far as I can build without ordering anything for this 10308-style clothes shop. A lot has changed since I last showed off the digital version on October 11th, such as the first floor's base has been changed from plates to bricks, along with the red front awning being discarded, and the second floor's main color has been changed to dark tan. The remaining 120 parts to be ordered next month. This is everything I could build on the '51 Hudson Hornet without the BrickLink order being here yet... which should be (hopefully) delivered today. Thoughts?

BREAKING: The Orient Express Train approved in LEGO Ideas
Murdoch17 replied to koraldon's topic in LEGO Train Tech
All aboard the Orient Express / hype train! (Now I just need to buy a mummy figure to go with my 12th Doctor Who figure to at least partially* recreate the "Mummy on the Orient Express" episode!) I just hope they don't pull and Emerald Night on us and make it one car per set... Anyway I can't wait for this to be revealed! *Yes, I know it was a space train in the episode. But stylistically, it was based off this steam train. -
What is the best way to display Lego inside a car?
Murdoch17 replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
People will steal anything. I've heard of people breaking into cars to steal a handful of loose change. If the general public thinks it could be it valuable, kiss the figs goodbye. Again, people will steal anything to get what they want / make a quick buck... without thinking twice. And if they can't get the item off your car, they might steal your entire car. Basically, not a good idea to do this, or with anything of any potential value. -
five vintage 1980's - 2000's Lego train building MOC's
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks! He has 90% of the the 9v trains lineup (and most freight cars in multiples) from 1991 to 1995 along with a few 12v era train cars from the '80's that he converted. The few 9v exceptions he doesn't own are 2150, 3225, 4532, 4512, 4513, 4514, 4459, 4560 / 4561, 4654, 10173, and 4565. Some sets such as 10027, 2126, and 10218 are also missing from his collection, though I owned them in mine at one point. (mine are long gone) Does this answer your question @Vliebricker? -
[RESOLVED] Whoever changed the font for this sub-forum
Murdoch17 replied to zinnn's topic in LEGO Pirates
It makes my head hurt if I read in this font too long. (I get ocular migraines so this style might be a trigger? I don't know.) It starts getting blurry for me after a few minutes and I'm on a desktop. ...Granted, I'm not in this forum that much, but it is an issue for me. (and possibly others who might not even have an account to say so) -
First post just updated with new car pictures and text! This fabulous 1951 Hudson Hornet was originally a @hachiroku design of a Hudson Hornet that I modified quite a bit to be Edna Mode's car. The reason for this specific design is I was struggling to come up with a good 8-wide 1950's / 60's car design for her for use with the tailor shop. Then I remembered I had this design of a blue Hudson Hornet, (extremely similar to the one in CARS) and it just clicked. The car fit the era nicely, and it was high-end enough for Mode to drive without it seeming too odd. You can find the original builder's version here. Thoughts?

Now THIS is pod racing! I love this model, I just hope the pilot realizes the only human ever to even finish a pod race (alive, at least) was a young force user with midi-chlorian levels off the charts! I sincerely hope this Classic Spaceman has his life insurance paperwork filled out properly...

They've done it before... set 8007, from 2001. It wasn't very good, even for a Technic set... too many stickers. This would be the same problem if they did it now: too many stickers, or too many drum lacquered parts to make it worthwhile. It just isn't feasible. And besides, which version would they make? "Classic silver leg" (EP IV - VI), "Red arm" (EP VII), "Naked" (EP I), "Backwards" (EP V) or something else?

@Josh06, that is part number 20597, Minifigure, Hair Short Tousled with Side Part and Lock Sticking Up. (The link is to that part on Bricklink.)

Digitally, yes. Real life, no. I did change a heck of a lot about it to suit my tastes (and I didn't have the instructions at the time, so things might be wrong), but yes - it has a 9v motor, @Dav1d.

five vintage 1980's - 2000's Lego train building MOC's

Sadly, it does not have a transfer crane in it, @Shiva. (though I wish it did!) It does look like a locomotive repair shed, though. -
five vintage 1980's - 2000's Lego train building MOC's
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks @Darkkostas25, they do have a look not seen in many builds these days... a kind of a quaint, old-fashioned charm. You got me @Toastie. Leg O. Bricks Root Beer really is a subsidiary company of the Soylent Corporation as they are slowly branching out from Soylent Red, Yellow, and Green to soft drinks of a "refined" taste. (It's also part of a partnership with Axis Chemicals) -
The following five models were originally built by my dad without the aid of Bricklink as it didn't exist yet. Only sets bought in stores or parts packs ordered from LEGO directly were used. (at least at first!) Some of these pictures are also quite old, so please bear with me on them. This old gray tunnel was built in the early 1990's. (I added the tan baseplate and RC tracks when I received it from him as a present.) This grain elevator model was around 1999 / 2000. Like most of his MOCs from that time, he built it before he had a BrickLink account. With this one he never finished it 100%, probably due to having us kids (including me) tearing it down and scattering parts every other weekend while he fixed it during the week. Eventually, he put them up out of reach except for special occasions such as the two weeks bracketing Christmas. This vintage model has been used by our family for layouts at his house at Christmas and other times for a long while, throughout most of my childhood up to 2012 or so when we stopped doing a tree + floor layout. These two finger-hinged doors hold the grain back until it is needed to be loaded. He eventually gifted this model to me about in 2021 because he built the Brick Train Depot version and it is better / bigger by like double in size. I added the conveyor belt and tan baseplates for the bottom, as it fits with the rest of my buildings better. This double track train shed was built before I was even born, in 1989. It was originally single track and used parts using quite a few copies of set 6380 (Emergency Treatment Center) from 1987. The rear of the shed. Around 2003, he rediscovered the model and decided to add a second stall to the engine shed, which he did (using a rather new website called Bricklink) He even added brick built re-railers to in-between the rails. The girder bridge was built in the mid -'90's and features the base-plate from set 6552 (Rocky Retreat) from 1993. The guard rails were added in the mid-2000's. This factory was constructed around the years 2001 - 2004 with parts from several Sand Red supplemental packs available at that time. It does not feature any interior, nor does it have a removable roof. But this thing is built STRONG: you have to really put your weight on it to press the roof together. It has never been determined what this factory made in-universe, though for my own purposes, I pretended it made beverages. What beverages, you ask? Why, Leg O. Brick's Root Beer of course! Thoughts on these five older MOC's?

Praise be to @Robert8: the King of Custom CMF's has produced another masterpiece! We are not worthy! ...Ahem. Really nice series, I love that you gave some of the more obscure (and needed IRL) characters a place in the series (Ventriloquist & Scar face, Phantasm, Mad Hatter) and some that we've gotten before but weren't quite right. (I'm talking about you, TLBM Clock King!) Although, if it were real, I think people might take issue with the international terrorist lady. (however fictional Red Claw may be!) Any other custom CMF or otherwise projects you're working on?

As someone who got to ride in a rumble seat of a 1930's model A for a few miles, I can safely say this is very accurate! I can also say they are incredibly unsafe (will catapult you in case of a head-on crash) and are very hard to get into or out of for adults / late-stage teenagers! (So I wonder how old-time grown adults got into the back in all those stiff, starched long-pants without ripping a seam!) Anyway: fantastic MOC!
