LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Murdoch17 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'd prefer the flying sandcrawler with AT-AT legs (sand walker?) and jedi masters Cad Bane, Palpatine, and Jabba from Rebuild the Galaxy to that ship. Throw in the traitorous Han Solo for good measure. Because reasons! -
Great job @MrWayne! Love the color scheme for the house especially - the blue roof and white / light gray walls really pop!

I'm jealous. I've wanted that for a long, long time. Also, I didn't know Lucius Malfoy knew how to fly a plane!

Sinister Biplane - 70429 inspired Adventurers MOC
Murdoch17 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Originally the accent color it was regular red. Then I saw the plane from 7417 - Temple of Mount Everest. The black and yellow looked so good I went with that instead. But trust me - I agonized over this choice for a while @The Reader!- 7 replies

[MOC] Safari plane (inspired by set 60250)
Murdoch17 replied to The Reader's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You're right on the 9-wides looking odd @The Reader. If only there was a middle ground - I wish a 7 wide propellor existed... -
I love that this MOD of 10223 was recolored to match 7745! It just makes sense and I wonder why more people haven't done it. Keep up the good work @BillytheKid!

We don't speak of the Flash (staring the poster boy for crime sprees) or the mess known as Quantumania. Oh, and there is no Indy 5. So, in essence, a singing candy maker and a Belgian detective go up against the father of the atom bomb... I vote for the nuclear option. (sorry Wonka - please don't feed me to the giant geese!)

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Murdoch17 replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
@cdmv My god, that set 4954 is from 2007? That can't be 17 years ago - it's impossible! I remember looking into getting that set for my 13th birthday that year, but decided on that year's train station (set 7997) instead. ...I think I just aged into dust. -
Johnny Thunder and his friends better watch the skies - Lord Sam Sinister has a deadly new biplane! This former racing plane is armed to the teeth with two machine guns ready and waiting to shoot down the Island Hopper seaplane or strafe the Adventurers' tramp steamer. I really hope that Thunder has good insurance on all their stuff! In reality, this model is based on 2020 Hidden Side set 70429 - El Fuego's Stunt Plane. I recolored the model from dark blue / bright light orange to black / yellow, removed the AR play features, and added two guns by the cockpit, WWI style. I also have Lord Sam Sinister in his pilot garb standing by, waiting to fire up his plane to go after some hidden treasures! The plane seats one figure and has a control yoke in it's proper place. As previously stated, the plane is armed with two machine guns. The model will be built in real bricks soon. Thoughts?

Detective Office has my vote. I love the play features and storyline presented. That, and I love film noir stories like The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, Sunset Boulevard - even The Cheap Detective, so of course it gets my vote!

[Poll] What is Your Favorite Space Faction (1978-1999)
Murdoch17 replied to SpacePolice89's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Wow! In a shocking twist, Classic Space is now tied with Ice Planet 2002 for the top spot - I never thought I'd see that happen! -
So you've saying you've recently been converted to liking the Friends theme... So in essence, you've been Friendsified, is that it @Hive? But to answer your question: In short: Yes, Friends is fantastic. In long form: Yes, Friends is fantastic, and City is playing catch-up to a degree. And yes, the Friends sets are good MOC / modular fodder: I took the basic idea / look of the Castle B&B and made it modular, for example. But some CITY sets, like 60363 - Ice Cream Shop are good MOC material too. I think CITY is doing more modern or near-future architecture (as in sets 60414, 60365, and 60380, among others) while Friends scratches older building itch. (42620, 41748, 42638, etc.) As someone who likes older structures, these Friends sets make me REALLY happy, but someone who like ultra-modern buildings might like city more.

...And now for something completely different: a LEGO train layout that goes on a LEGO train layout. This specifically will go inside the toy shop modular building on the second floor, which will itself be placed on my LEGO layout once completed.

Lego Musical Instruments - info, new moulds & your wishlist
Murdoch17 replied to zinnn's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That already exists. Here it is @The Island Chronicles. -
I'm down to 585 parts in 90 types left to find for this build! I will hopefully be ordering the rest soon... as for the truck and inside details I showed off a while back, those have been finished already but they won't be photographed until the building is done in real life. As you can see, some color swaps were made to the model since the last time I showed it off. Thoughts?

Welcome to Eurobricks @GlennH! I'm sorry to be tell you this, but the user you're talking to (@Beck) hasn't been online in over a year, so I don't think they're going to see your post. Also, if no instructions are offered, they (generally speaking) do not exist. Most people don't make them as it is a very time consuming and labor intensive thing to create. I wish you luck in building Lego models of the locomotives your company uses, and I hope you find someone who can help you more.

Nice work @BlueJ73!

It's a amazing MOC, but an opera house without a resident Phantom!? Oh well, just be glad there is no chandelier for him to drop if he was there! Keep up the good work!

Hopefully when the passenger train / OE retire, they will get rid of the plastic axle wheels in favor of the reintroduced metal ones. After all, the 2023 Hogwarts Express and 2024 Downtown Streetcar have the metal ones! I wonder how much it cost LEGO in lost sales / customer complaints because of this folly!
