  1. Since the end of the war, the occupying forces in the Nestlands have retreated. The Clans have pledged to support those who continue the resistance, but are not actively engaging Desert King forces. While the Horus worshiping Mountain Mummies still refute the Desert King's claim of the title of Pharaoh, they too are not actively combating his forces. The major concern of most of the Nestlands Clans is the return to production and trade. There is a hopeful feeling at the moment, with Sdair's quest underway, and two Ambassadors soon to take up residence in their respective Embassies. Many feel that the Armored Eagle Goddess will be reborn to flesh soon, and preparations are being made in the temples. One priest has begun reciting the Book of Confusion in the original Green Elvish, one passage every waking hour. When he finishes, he plans to start over, and keep doing so until Sdair's return.
  2. Great builds. Just about everything has been said about the details, and the story leaves just enough desired that makes us want to see the next chapter. The skin tone of the bride seems to suggest one of the eastern Kaliphlin cities.
  3. Welcome, Feliks and Nadine. The Begonya name is known in the far south as well. The Nestlands trade partner, Mitgardian shipping magnate Andrius Hierre, says he has had a couple of Begonyas on one of his ships. Their conduct gambling in Berigora, while successful, had caused quite a stir. The Nestlands Ambassador to Mitgardia, Icemaiden Ryssa Kend, has enjoyed their boisterous company, but expects their employment to be terminated at port in Thorshaven.
  4. In certain mythololgies, a banshee is supposed to have the body of a beautiful woman and the head of a rabbit with sharp teeth, clothed in rags. It is a herald of imminent death. It is never actually supposed to harm anyone. I wll be very surprized if Lego gives her a fanged rabbit face. The various translations gave us quite a good discussion around the Rocker Monster and Bigfoot. It doesn't surprize me that Grim Reaper might be a mis-translation. It seems that the original Czech list may have been a bad translation of a bad translation. Banshee is an English derivation of the original ban-sidhe, which refers to a dead fey spirit.
  5. About the Specter; think Casper the Friendly Ghost, without the licensing fees. The wispy leg piece would probably have been better swirled from white to trans-clear. I can think of a few uses, though.
  6. That white head reminds me of the "Scream" mask, which has become quite ubiquitous in Halloween costume aisles.
  7. Are you aware of this, this, and this from the Fright Knights theme? Flying machines are plausible in a fantasy theme. There are also a couple of Fantasy Era sets that could almost qualify as steampunk without the steam: this and this, both of which I purchased. I wonder if we might see a DaVinci style helicopter.
  8. Given that the sequel won't be out until 2017, I doubt there will be any more TLM set news this year.
  9. Now I am flashing back to a Black Adder episode. I believe it was in the second series that the Nanny character dressed in this ridiculous cow costume with lots of udders. Wasn't the Minotaur supposed to be the son of King Minos? The snake tail Medusa comes from the old Ray Harryhausen design in Jason and the Argonauts. The term for the this type of creature is gorgon. There were several women transformed like Medusa, but her ability made her a more remembered figure.
  10. That stove takes me back. I lived in a house with one of those stoves, though it was a double.
  11. Give it time. The movie doesn't come out till next year. Sets based on an unreleased movie could include spoilers.
  12. Wonderfully done. UoP DoH +1
  13. About the dalek in the Dimensions pack; the mini builds are designed so that they can be rebuilt, the instructions to be found in-game. The Ideas set may have a better fig-scale dalek, like the original concept.
  14. Does anyone else think the Cybermen fig's print look like a War Machine variant?
  15. Your welcome. And I also appreciate the use of my exact screename. Kai is right about freebuilds, but quality builds with clean photography are always appreciated. The points system holds less guild competitive importance than it did in the beginning. There used to be a regular running tally, but since the GOH popularity explosion, even a monthly accounting is a monumental task. I don't envy the people running GOH their task of sorting out this past challenge, given the volume of builds it generated.
  16. Did anyone else notice that some LOTR weapons have crossed into Ninjago? I had wondered how many of the molds created for that line would be available for TLG to utilize in other themes. That "elf sword" has always looked like a naginata to me, and this gives me hope that some of the more generic molds may actually show up in future Castle sets. In my Lego Club Magazine, Cole is wielding a weapon that includes the LOTR orc sword (possibly in pearl grey). This, I believe, bodes well for future fantasy lines. As to the possibility of steampunk elements in a fantasy setting, I would refer you to the writings of China Mieville (can't type the accent mark on my tablet). Sure, the books are very adult, but mixing fantasy and steampunk can work. There are some awesome design potentialities here if, for say, you are not hampered by the limits of medieval architecture. I eagerly await this theme.
  17. 1) This should be fine. There are builds that have done something like this. Last year there was a back and forth succession of builds that depicted a minor rivalry between Mitgardia and Kaliphlin that lead to the Naval Mini-challenge. 2) Guild thread ribbing is okay, as long as it is tangentially topical to the discussion and avoids personal attacks. Being abusive to members can get you banned. 3) Book 2 Challenge IV has just concluded. The prelude to the next challenge will depend on the Guild Leaders' timetable. The next challenge will be in Nocturnus.

  19. That is a Juniors set, and technically not part of the Castle theme. It is targeted at an even younger age bracket.
  20. Given that there are a number of classic Disney characters wouldn't work in mini-fig dimensions, I could see this as a mini-doll line. This would require several more body molds, but that is what the CMF line does quite often. Consider the idea that this CMF line is intended to be the characters that get represented at the Disney parks. If that is true, then it would make sense that these would be dimensionally compatible with the Disney Princesses figures. That would also make sense to make Chip and Dale full figure size.
  21. The arm itself looks like a smooth version of the rock monsters', and those were compatible with the standard torso (I did it once). The potential for parts is how I generally judge a theme, and in this I find a lot of potential, given the source material. Will likely buy for parts, and the bird figs might find their way into some GOH Nestlands builds. Hopefully I will have the budget next year.
  22. OMG!! If true, consider the possibility of a CMD series, to be compatible with Disney Princesses. If they are thinking of doing Clara, Goofy and Mortimer, those proportions would be accurate. Back on topic; I anticipate plenty of usable parts for my current build focus. The only two CMF figs I have kept as is for use are Spooky Girl and Egyptian Queen, and my purchasing has been selective for what I can use from the beginning. This series might actually have me buying most of them, posibly intentionally getting multiples (I don't go in for army building.)
  23. I have two embassies in the works: the one in Nocturnus (at 64x64) is nearing completion, and the one in Mitgardia (at 32x32) has the sidewalk and front landing laid out.

  25. I doubt the update will be 5.0 until Windows 10 has been widely released, as the LDD programmers will need to be sure any new functions will work in the new version of the OS. I expect to see some of the newer parts that have come out of Elves, Chima and Ninjago. Hopefully the mini-doll parts will be there as well. I have an idea for the head itself, but the part doesn't come in the color I'd need it in.
