I'm going to be buying this, but these images still seem to be too unfinished. Raj's dog is a yorkie, and though the chihuahua mold might work, without the printing it looks wrong. I'm also betting the statue in Leonard's hand will be printed. What the print might be of will probably become something of a debate until pictures of the actual part surface. I may have to buy two, as I want the figs whole and parts for other figs.

Where do you see a tongue sticking out? All I see is the side of the neck being lit better than the face. I do like the micro Mystery Machine, though.

I'm sorry Blakstone, but that statement is quite out of date. In the eight years since, the Lego target audience has broadened. Lego niches have become more prevalent, since the licensed sets have drawn in non-FOL collectors. Since the end of LOTR/Hobbit, outside of the Dimensions video game, (IMHO) Lego is obviously hoping to hold on to a good portion of the buying public that were LOTR/Hobbit fans first as FOLs. I was a FOL first, and don't really get the display collector mentality. Also, for me as a kid, action play appealed less than creation play when it came to Lego. All that being said, I eagerly await the next Castle line. It is reported to be fantasy. I would actually like fantasy buildings in non-standard castle colors. If we finally get some non-fleshie/minidoll elves, the builds should be more outlandish.

Factory seconds is my guess. Parts that don't measure up to quality standards (yes, LEGO has them) and are supposed to be destroyed, but workers take them home to sell.

The Will to be Free [GA – D13 - HC vs. DK]

As always, wonderful detail and landscaping. I may have to mention this place in my next Quest for the Egg build. My wraith elf character's home is in an old quarry in the vicinity.- 31 replies

Remember that Fantasy Era got cut short, we now know it was because of development for LOTR. Since then a lot of new molds have been designed. If a relaunch of Fantasy Era is what we are getting, I could see many of the Chima, and some Disney Princesses, parts getting recolored. That exhibit may have been designed with prototype Kingdoms material. As it looks more like that than anything else. It is tonally similar to Fantasy Era, though, and apparently TLG decided to go in a different direction.

Should new castles have (raised) blaseplates?
gedren_y replied to Artifex's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I have a few ideas using the newish Juniors bases. Base height can be made by using small panel pieces under the primary base. With those, and the modularization of castle sections, castles of the same theme could have some variation. Small wall and tower sets made modular would be great, so they could be added to the large castle, or with multiples make a whole castle. -

About the possibility of Sideshow Bob: It is probable that they will do him, but how is the wonder. Will he have big feet? That is something particularly important, because of why he hates Bart. That episode was a pivotal for the series. I know Kristy didn't get the big shoes, but they are less intregal to the character. If they do Reverend Lovejoy, then they should be able to do Rabbi Krustofski.

Thanks, all. This was one of the easiest rockwork designs I have done. I'm quite happy with the result. Writing the story, though, took hours. Dialogue is hard. Especially for someone like myself who has to layer in characterization, even for just fig heads. Then I have to add the dialect for the Nestlands characters. I really wrote myself into a corner when I decided on hillbilly-speak for the Nestlands Clans. Aturl's dialogue is far easier. The buried idea is what struck first. Then I decided that these guys wouldn't have naturally came up with this idea on their own, so I had to set up that this was a spot that it had been done before. Additionally, Sdair wouldn't just leave someone to die like that, nor would he kill a defenseless prisoner. Scare them, yes. Kill them in cold blood, or leave them with no hope of rescue, no. About the bone leg: I was just going to just litter some skeleton parts around, but I had seen that too often. I figured it might be more impactful to see just a little of some other remains. What is depicted is torture, and I wanted it to be clear that treating someone that inhumanely is wrong. Anyway, that part is actually attached to a bar between two headlight bricks. The lime green was kind of necessary, as most of my green and dark green parts were tied up in other builds. Also I was running out of light bley 1x1 slopes.

UoP DoH +1 on all credits. To be clear, the tree credit is one of three, as you can claim only one tree credit per build.

Quest for the Egg Part 1 Quest for the Egg Part 2 Intelligence Gathering: Ever since making their way into the central Rakath Mountains, Sdair Zuuree and Kynkayd Hernbolnd have had to backtrack to avoid patrols of Desert King forces. Their search for the home of the wraith elf Driz Urdon, to further their Quest for the Egg of the Armored Eagle Goddess, has been seriously impeded. According to Sali Dahlib, Driz Urdon had once been a Drow, but the map including the elf's home he sold them wasn't very accurate. Today, though, events will put them firmly on the path once again. --------------------------------------------- Sdair and Kynkayd had passed this dense mud hole the day before, and viewed the remains barely buried here with a blase that was usual among their kind. The Nestlands Clans don't bury their dead, but generally leave them for animals to feed upon, hopefully birds. Kynkayd made an off-handed comment about the uses of a place like this. That evening they came upon two Desert King soldiers, one young and one older (clearly an officer). Both were sound asleep, and with just a few drops of restorative (for drunkards) each was bound and carted off with ease. The Desert King soldiers would sleep through being buried up to their necks in the mud hole of the previous day. The soldiers' effects were inventoried, important maps and correspondence were kept for later viewing, and the remainder was left at the soldiers' campsite. It was mid day before the soldiers were awake enough to be interrogated. Sober now, these men could fully appreciate their predicament. "A' 'ight now, lad," Kynkayd drawled, "'ere's de sitchiashun. Yer gonna die. Dere's no helpin' dat. Iffin' ye tell us whats we wants ta know, we kill ya quick. Iffin' not, we leave ya here. Maybe ya die o' da heat wit no drink. Maybe ya die frum de animals. Maybe ya get lucky an' die frum sum rain floodin' dis hole. It could be days afore ye die, though, 'cuz no-un's goona know where ye are." Kynkayd underscored his point by scratching the young man's face. Kynkayd's blade. enchanted to inspire fear, had the lad panicking to the point of urination, darkening the soil around him. "Please, please, anything," the young man whined. The older man growled at the breaking of the younger. "The lad is a new recruit," the officer scoffed, "He can't give you much, and I won't break so easily." "Aye," Sdair replied, "That much is certain." Kynkayd's threats were utter falsehoods. He and Sdair had no intention of killing these men. The animals and elements wouldn't get the chance either. The ground being cool, and their headdresses intact, mitigated them dieing from heat, at least for today. There were no clouds in the sky, so rain was unlikely. Furthermore, the patrol these two were to meet up with should be passing through here just after dark. If the men had realized this, they could be yelling for help, but it wouldn't help much. The mountains surrounding this hollow spot would bounce the sound. While Kynkayd was getting the lad to talk, Sdair decided on a different tactic. He began singing a quite lewd song in green elvish. Not three bars in, the older soldier began chuckling. "Aye," Sdair stopped singing to say, "Ah thought so. Ye tried ta recruit de wraith elf. Ye failed, so ye get stuck wit de lad." "Alright," replied the older man, "I met with him. What of it?" "Ye've got a proper map," Sdair encouraged, "Ye tell me which of dese it is, an' ye get ta live ta go soldierin' another day." It took the old soldier several minutes to make up his mind, but he eventually replied, "Alright, it's the map done in red ink. But I don't think he'll talk to you any more than he would to me." "Dat's it den," Sdair exclaimed, "Eh, Kynkayd, we've got what we need. C'm on, it's time we be gettin' dis quest done proper. Ye can use de speakin' stone ta relay what ye learnt dis evenin'." As Sdair and Kynkayd were walking away the old soldier yelled, "Hey, aren't you going to let us live?" Sdair turned around, and walking backwards replied, "Aye, ye are. Ah left most of yer gear at yer camp wit an arrow pointin' dis way. Yer Desert King's patrol should be dere by mid-affernun. Iffin' dey're smart, dey'll be here jus' after dark. Later." Sdair and Kynkayd were finally on their way to the knowledge they needed to complete their quest. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- More images: The look of the round stones made Sdair think there must have been some grand structure here once, possibly made by dwarves. The detail of the stone behind Kynkayd. Looks like some unlucky soul got buried the other way. -------------------------------------- CCC

Existing Castle parts in new colours wishlist
gedren_y replied to Artanis I's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
There is something I did in LDD; the long spear as a giant candle, white with a bright orange tip. I'd also like to see the oval shield in pearl colors, with or without printing. Redoing the Tudor panelling would be great, but I would prefer red and black or yellow and dark brown. Corners as well. Those more than the flat panels are what made the design work. -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
gedren_y replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
During the Kaliphlin Civil War reconstruction of fortress Kas'ret Vud into the Nestlands Embassy in Nocturnus has been halted. Hopefully the work crews will begin again soon. When sufficient accommodations have been constructed, Ambassador Neord Bloodmane will extend his invitation to Lord Vladivus to discuss matters of mutual benefit. -

It is all about lighting and viewing angle. If I were seeing this in person I would likely be more able to appreciate the details. The opening above the stairwell looks a little small for those wide brimmed helmets, lengthwise for figures going up and down the stairs.
